Three men rent a room.
Clerk tells them it is $30.00
Each of the three men gives $10.00
The Clerk later realizes he charged the three men too much handed a Bellhop $5.00 to bring up to the room.
On the elevator the Bellhop decides there is no way to evenly divvy up the $5.00 between three men so he pockets $2.00.
At the room the Bellhop explains to the three men how they overpaid and hands each man a one dollar bill. ( of-course he didn't mention the $2.00 in his pocket ).
Now…
Seeing that each of the three has been given back $1.00 that means that each of the three men paid only $9.00 apiece for the room.
The original price paid for the room was $30.00
3 x $9.00 = $27.00
Bellhop kept $2.00
$27.00 + $2.00 = $29.00
How did $1.00 go missing?
