SEATTLE — The ongoing unrest on Seattle's streets has prompted some residents and business owners to push the city on bringing in outside help to help quell the chaotic demonstrations.
Some Seattle Police Department officers admit that their resources are stretched thin because of the ongoing violence and destruction that has stretched for five consecutive days. During Sunday night protests, some storefronts were damaged during the violence.
“ I think there needs to be federal oversight or some federal assistance,” said resident Evan Dominick, a similar thought being floated by Capitol Hill residents.
“The state of Washington should have some role if things get out of control,” said resident Brett Bauer.
When interim Seattle police Chief Adrian Diaz was asked Sunday night if Seattle police would benefit from outside help. he suggested that his department doesn't need it.
>"At this time, we are managing through our resources," he said. "Today, we had a considerable amount of officers to handle, and not only be able to respond to 911 (calls), but if we have demonstrations that get out of control, we have officers to respond to that as well.”
