That's what I was thinking. It's impossible to predict which direction the fractured blade (or fan hub assembly, in the case of United 232) will go when it breaks loose. The hub spins at 4000+ rpm, blade tips are supersonic at 100% N1. Hitting THAT specific person, it's just too unbelievable. Effort to take down the whole plane, though? Yeah that's definitely plausible.
