"Dr. Jonathan Mann, who helped shape the campaign against AIDS, was traveling on the flight with his wife, Dr. Mary Lou Clements-Mann, to attend AIDS-related meetings in Geneva. A public health physician, he founded the Global Program on AIDS in 1986 for the World Health Organization. In 1990, he resigned in a protest against W.H.O.'s failure to move faster, and recently he became the first dean of a new public health school in Philadelphia.

Dr. Clements-Mann was an epidemiologist and vaccine expert who headed the center for immunization research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health in Baltimore."
