St. Louis officials won't prosecute alleged trespassers involved in controversial protest

“… Protesters who were charged with trespassing on a Central West End street – that made for national news when they were met by gun-wielding Mark and Patricia McCloskey – will not be prosecuted.
St. Louis Deputy City Counselor Michael Garvin released a statement saying "prosecution is not warranted" against nine people who had been issued police summonses earlier this month.
Several hundred demonstrators on June 28 marched onto the private street where the McCloskey’s Renaissance palazzo-style mansion sits. The McCloskeys said the protesters knocked down an iron gate and ignored a “No Trespassing” sign. Protest leaders said the gate was open and the demonstration was peaceful.
Mark McCloskey came out with a semi-automatic rifle and his wife emerged with a semi-automatic handgun. No shots were fired. Missouri law allows homeowners to use force, even lethal force, to defend their homes.
Democratic St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner filed felony unlawful use of a weapon charges in July. President Donald Trump considered the charges an “egregious abuse of power,” his press secretary, Kayleigh McEnany, said…"
The gate was open after the protestors destroyed it!
