IMF Approves $6.5Bln Loan for Ecuador, Ecuadorian President Says
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a loan worth $6.5 billion for Ecuador, Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno told reporters.
The loan program is set to last for 27 months.
"I announce that the IMF loan has been unanimously approved today at 10:30 [15:30 GMT]. Good news!" Moreno said on Wednesday.
Ecuador has registered they 137,000 million COVID-19 coronavirus cases so far, reaching a $62.5 million USAID support package for development.
Trump also enumerated the operations targeting the illicit drug trade in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific this year with 22 international allies led to the seizure of more than 80 metric tons of cocaine and other dangerous drugs, depriving transnational criminal organizations of more than $1.8 billion in profits, Trump added.
Moreno stressed that the funds would be used to support those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The aid package aims at the UN sustainable development goals and is intended to support civil society efforts to protect human rights, fight corruption, protect vulnerable groups, including indigenous peoples.
