Republicans protest in Wilkes-Barre, call for Pedri to resign after ballots discarded
WILKES-BARRE (WOLF) — State officials say the election worker who threw out nine military ballots in Wilkes-Barre made an error- but didn't commit intentional fraud.
That didn't stop a group of people protesting outside the county's board of elections office, calling for Luzerne county manager Dave Pedri to resign.
"Our veterans are fighting for our right to vote and look what happened to their ballots," one protester said.
"This temporary worker was not trained and threw out some ballots. Luckily it was caught immediately by the county election director," PA secretary of state Kathy Boockvar said.
Plus that temporary worker- fired.
Not good enough for these protesters, standing right outside the county elections bureau, holding signs calling for Pedri's resignation.
"Dave Pedri is the county manager… he's the person who's responsible for hiring those people. He should be on top of that," county councilman Walter Griffith said.
Seven of the nine ballots were for President Trump, disturbing to veterans in our area. Including Teddy Daniels, purple heart recipient and former congressional candidate.
"They're the ones standing on that wall at night making sure nothing happens to us. They take the time to send in their military ballot- and it ends up in a dumpster," Daniels said.
"The person at the top is accountable and should be held responsible for what happened," Daniels added.
Pedri did not return our multiple requests for comment.
