Some American "founding fathers" were slave owners.
Indentured and penal servitude seem much the same as slavery. Each deprives other human beings of basic rights without compensation, and only marginally better than death, re physical and psychological harm.
Let's not get in to the subject of the genocide of Native Americans…..
