A&Fag here. Ur right on everything except I don't believe the turbine blades are moving supersonic. All the air moving through any air breathing engine is subsonic, even the sr71 at full throttle. The shock waves caused by supersonic speeds would tear the engine apart.

 

But the rest of ur post is correct.

Seen pics when I was in school for airframe & power plant license of one that blew apart in a test8ng rig. The blades were wedged into the cement walls on the one side & one of the blades even made it to the next building thru multiple nonconcrete walls. Nobody was hurt luckily.
