This was not written for Trump. All involved in this article know Trump is going to recover and get better and continue on. They know they're not going to dissuade him.

So why write it at all?

This was written to give Biden cover for quitting, and getting replaced with a Clinton/Obama ticket at the last possible moment.

Look for the switcheroo to happen in the later weeks of October.

(Oh, and look at that, Miss "CONDUCTOR WE HAVE A PROBLEM" Maggie Haberman herself).

>Mr. Trump’s positive test result posed immediate challenges for the future of his campaign against former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., the Democratic nominee, with barely a month until Election Day. Even if Mr. Trump, 74, remains asymptomatic, he will lose much of his remaining time on the campaign trail. If he becomes sick, it could raise questions about whether he should remain on the ballot at all.
