Twitter says they will suspend users wishing death on Trump, but Facebook will allow it as long as he isn't tagged in the comment

Facebook said it wants to allow for criticism of public figures

Two major social media platforms had decidedly different responses to numerous death wishes being made against President Donald Trump after he said that he tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday.

When asked by Vice News about their policy related to death wishes against the president, Twitter said they would apply the same standard they have had about other death threats.

"Content that wishes, hopes or expresses a desire for death, serious bodily harm or fatal disease against an individual is against our rules," Twitter said in a statement on Friday.

Vice noted that Facebook makes a distinction between threats against public figures and those against private individuals.

Facebook has explained that the platform "distinguish[es] between public figures and private individuals because we want to allow discussion, which often includes critical commentary of people who are featured in the news or who have a large public audience."

To that end, they will take down posts that link the president in the comment containing a death wish, but not necessarily any other kind.

"For public figures, we remove attacks that are severe as well as certain attacks where the public figure is directly tagged in the post or comment," they said.

Twitter still allowed for the possibility of selective enforcement on the issue.

They added that they "won't take enforcement action on every Tweet," and instead will prioritize "the removal of content when it has a clear call to action that could potentially cause real-world harm."

Some less civil critics of the president have already taken to social media to wish harm on him and the first lady, while others have used the moment to crack jokes and quips at their expense.

The White House says the president and the first lady are experiencing mild symptoms from the coronavirus. Trump was sent to Walter Reed Medical Center out of an abundance of caution, and his live campaign events were canceled, or changed to virtual events.

Key Assange Prosecution Witness Part of Academic Cluster That Has Received Millions from UK & US Militaries

One of the U.S. prosecution’s key medical witnesses in the Julian Assange hearing, who claimed that Assange’s risk of suicide is “manageable” if extradited to the U.S., works for an academic institute that is funded by the U.K. Ministry of Defence and linked to the U.S. Department of Defense, it can be revealed.

Dr. Nigel Blackwood, a reader in forensic psychiatry at King’s College London (KCL), told the extradition hearing in London last week that Julian Assange was suffering only “moderate” depression.

U.S. prosecution witness works at Institute of Psychiatry funded by U.K. military although is not personally funded by it.

Witness leads research group which works “in collaboration” with centre set up with U.S. Department of Defense funding.

He co-leads the group with academic whose work is often funded by U.K. military.

Institute’s partner department is closely linked to the Anglo-American military and intelligence communities and created a course for British intelligence officers on behalf of the U.K. government.

Responding to Declassified, witness says: “I had no conflicts [of interest] to declare.”

Revelations come following end of Old Bailey hearing on Assange’s U.S. extradition.

Giving evidence as an expert witness for the U.S. prosecution, Dr. Blackwood rebutted other experts’ findings on the seriousness of Assange’s condition, adding his suicide risk was “manageable.” He told the court: “Mr. Assange has proved himself to be a very resilient and very resourceful man and he has underplayed that.”

At the request of U.S. prosecution lawyers, Dr. Blackwood examined Assange during two meetings in March. In his written submission to the court, he said that it would “not be unjust” to extradite Assange to the U.S.

Declassified has discovered that Dr. Blackwood’s professional work at KCL is linked to a cluster of academic groups which are funded by or associated with the British and American militaries.

Declassified has seen a contract showing that the Ministry of Defence (MOD) provided more than £2-million to KCL’s Institute of Psychiatry for the years 2013-16 for a project which KCL is forbidden to mention in public without MOD approval. It is likely the contract has been renewed and is still active.

Forensic Research

Dr. Blackwood told Declassified he had never personally worked with the KCMHR, adding that his “colleague” has “worked with” the centre examining post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the ex-service population.

That colleague, Dr. Deirdre MacManus, is the co-team leader with Dr. Blackwood of the Forensic Research Group and — according to the KCL website — a member of the KCMHR team. She is also part of the study team working on the MOD “wellbeing” contract.

MacManus, a clinical senior lecturer in forensic psychiatry, has been funded directly by the U.K. military to produce research. MacManus also appears to have published a number of outputsproduced from the MOD “wellbeing” contract alongside academic papers co-authored with, among others, a serving member of the British army.

Dr. MacManus and Dr. Blackwood co-authored an academic paper in September 2019 on the subject of PTSD in prisons, which “identified significant associations between PTSD and suicidality.” This was a subject on which Blackwood gave evidence to the Assange hearing.

Intelligence Training

The War Studies Department at KCL, which co-founded the KCMHR with the Institute of Psychiatry, is also linked to the U.K. and U.S. intelligence community.

The Department was in the mid-2000s commissioned by the “professional head of intelligence analysis” — working within the Cabinet Office’s Intelligence and Security Secretariat — “to develop a course for experienced [intelligence] analysts” in order to “enhance the analytic capability of the United Kingdom’s intelligence community.”

A study titled “Teaching Intelligence Analysts in the UK” and published in the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)’s in-house journal, notes that: “Exposure to an academic environment, such as the Department of War Studies at King’s College London, can add several elements that may be harder to provide within the government system.”

Co-written by David Omand — a former director of the U.K.’s largest intelligence agency, GCHQ, who teaches on KCL’s War Studies course — the article notes that “the CIA had recognized as early as 1960 how beneficial it would be to use universities as a means of intelligence training.”

The paper continues by noting that KCL “offers a containing space in which analysts from every part of the [intelligence] community can explore with each other the interplay of ideas about their profession.”

Facebook, Twitter, Google CEOs to Testify Before Congress in Late October

The CEOs of the most prominent social media networks are going to testify on Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which is designed to strip online intermediaries of responsibility for what is said/published by other people on their websites.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey have agreed to testify before the Senate Commerce Committee on 28 October concerning Section 230 of the US Communications Decency Act.

The announcement comes after the committee voted to subpoena social media CEOs if needed.

Twitter has posted that Dorsey is prepared to testify, noting that it will take place shortly before the 3 November election.

Zuckerberg's participation was confirmed by a Facebook spokesman, CNBC News reported, adding that the Commerce Committee confirmed the presence of all three CEOs.

According to Section 230, "No provider or user of an interactive computer service shall be treated as the publisher or speaker of any information provided by another information content provider".

Republicans, including President Donald Trump, have repeatedly accused Facebook, Google's YouTube, and Twitter of trying to censor conservative voices. Likewise, multiple tweets and retweets by President Trump have been marked as "manipulated media" or given a fact-check label.

It Needs to Be Asked: Is President Trump Safe from the Military Deep State at Walter Reed Hospital?

Is President Trump going to be safe in the Walter Reed Military Hospital? Who will protect him from the Deep State and his enemies in the military?

We’ve reported repeatedly on the rolling coup. The Deep State jumps from one crisis to another and attempts to remove this great President from office one way or another. The military was the next part of the coup.

We noted a couple weeks ago that the next option in the ‘rolling coup’ appeared to be coming from the military. We discussed this and more with Former Marine Helicopter Pilot, career JAG Officer and Chief of the Army Criminal Law Division, Col. Richard Black, (USA Ret.).

Col. Richard H. Black, (USA Ret.) has a storied history. He explained to us that he flew 269 combat missions as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. He also fought on the ground with the First Marine Division and was wounded with both of his radio men killed during an attack. Col. Black later went to law school and was a career Judge Advocate Officer (JAG) and eventually became the Chief of the Army Criminal Law Division in the Office of the Judge Advocate General at the Pentagon.

The colonel played a key role in deploying troops to quell the LA riots in 1992 and is well versed in the Insurrection Act as a result. He also served for 20 years as a member of the Virginia General Assembly where he spent time in both the Virginia House and the Senate. Colonel Black shared:

What appears to be going on is a concerted effort among some of the top generals and defense department officials to undermine the credibility of the President, to undermine his ability to deal with the violence that’s plaguing the cities of America today. And, there is a level of arrogance and independence among the military that I have never seen in my lifetime and I think it’s reaching dangerous proportions.

There are very top leaders of the effort and General James Mattis is one and General Colin Powell is another one and they are working together with an array of Generals who are not in my view being responsive to their oath of office and even to the requirements of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Pompeo Says Confident Croatia, European Countries Will Keep China Away From 5G Networks

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed confidence after meeting Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic that Croatia and other European countries will act to prevent China from accessing their citizens' private data via 5G networks.

Pompeo was speaking to reporters en route to Shannon, Ireland, after visiting to Dubrovnik, Croatia, where he also met with Foreign Minister Grlic Radman, and Defence Minister Banozic.

"I'm confident that many more European countries now, frankly because of just sharing information with them, they're going to make their own sovereign decision that says no", Pompeo said on Friday. "We don't want our citizens' data in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party", Pompeo said.

"I think every European country now understands this, is increasingly aware of it. And you'll see them start to take actions consistent with that, including in Croatia", he concluded.

Pompeo's week-long tour of Europe's Eastern Mediterranean region also includes stops in Greece, Italy and the Vatican.

The United States has signed declarations on 5G security with several European countries, including the Czech Republic, Poland and Estonia. Huawei, one of the world leaders in 5G communication networks has already been affected by US sanctions imposed due to allegations of corporate espionage and national security threats.

As an advanced wireless technology, 5G enables the real-time exchange of information at speeds of more than 10 gigabits a second, which is 30 times faster than the current 4G networks. The new technology is the next step in internet connectivity speed and, as experts believe, has the potential to transform various aspects of modern life.

Qld deputy premier Steven Miles ‘wishes Donald Trump well’ after disinfectant quip

The state’s health minister has issued a message to Donald Trump, hours after a controversial tweet that appeared to poke fun at the President getting COVID-19.

Queensland’s Deputy Premier has wished United States President Donald Trump “a speedy recovery” hours after he tweeted the leader asking if he had “tried intravenous disinfectant” after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

Steven Miles took the opportunity on Saturday morning to remind Queenslanders of the stark difference between the state’s dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, and that of the United States.

Speaking at a press conference, he said Queensland had reported no new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to Saturday morning. There are now just six active cases in the state.

In a series of tweets shared on Friday night, Mr Miles seemed to be criticising Mr Trump for the way he has handled COVID-19.

“Have you considered intravenous disinfectant?” he replied to Trump’s tweet in which he revealed he had tested positive.

In April Trump sparked outcry from medical experts after he suggested there should be research into whether coronavirus might be treated by injecting disinfectant into the body.

Doctors said it was dangerous and irresponsible.

Trump made the comments at a White House coronavirus task force briefing where US government research had found bleach could kill the virus in saliva within five minutes in saliva and isopropyl alcohol could kill it even more quickly.
