When anon was a kid the wolf population had gotten so out of control that the gov put a bounty on them, $10 per set of ears. They were taking down people's cows. The "man from the gubment" would come to the feed store once or twice a month to collect the ears and pay out the bounty. People stored the ears they harvested in the freezer til he came. Virtually wiped them out to this day in anon's neck of the woods.
Hogs were almost none existent at the time the wolves were numerous. Now, the hogs truly are out of control, thry can be aggressive towards people, and are doing massive destruction. Why? Probably because no wolves to eat them. There still coyotes, but they arent as big as wolves.
