LIBERTARIAN CANDIDATE FOR INDIANA GOVERNOR NOW RUNNING TV ADS AFTER RAISING MORE CAMPAIGN FUNDS
"Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Donald Rainwater told IBJ this week he’s raising money to boost his name ID and could go on the air with a TV commercial soon. Plus, he has radio ads running across the state.
That’s pretty unusual.
What’s more surprising is that the Democratic nominee for governor, Dr. Woody Myers, said he might never make it to TV. In fact, he told IBJ that putting together a TV ad—just more than a month before Election Day—“is not my number one priority.”
That scenario would be “incredibly unusual,” said Andy Downs, director of the Mike Downs Center for Indiana Politics.
Sure, TV doesn’t reach all voters the way it used to. But it’s still powerful enough to be a top choice of most campaigns.
So what makes the Libertarian candidate for governor more aggressive in this way than the Democratic nominee?
Well, Rainwater believes an “awakening” of freedom and liberty is happening across Indiana—and he thinks his campaign is the one that can capitalize on it."
