>Will the news outlets ever go back to the Cronkite days of just reading the facts
The "news" has always been comped. Since the pamphleteers during the revolution the purpose of the "news" is influence. Influence is power. Power is money. Money is more power.
Most boomers here got "woke" for real after the "free speech" riots and Vietnam. The Korean (not a war) vets, most of them WWII vets were pretty bitter. The greatest generation was gutted by war, their best years squandered for what we now know was just another move in "the great game".
By Vietnam, the Boomers knew the score from their parents. I was offered OCS in '66 and turned it down. I told the Officers Board that I supported America, took an oath to the Constitution, but could not support endless wars of attrition for the benefit of bankers and industrialists. I told them I would be the first in line to defend America, but Vietnam had not attacked us.
The Officers board, to a man, nodded their heads in agreement and resignation. Thanked me for my service and that was that.
The "news" is never going to be straight. That's what we do here. Enjoy it while you can.
