As a side note, here in the UK, tried and tested OTC meds, ointments etc have been discontinued in favour of less effective substitutes.
Took me a while to work out that it's because the old meds work but they can't be patented. So they're withdrawn instead because they don't make zillions $$ for the pharmas.
I used an ointment called Morhulin for decades to treat minor burns or any kind of skin condition involving raw/damaged skin. It not only had fantastic healing powers but also acted as a barrier - really thick, gloopy stuff that stucks to the skin and resisted water. Ingredients were zinc and castor oil. Can't get it now. And the advised substitute is useless and ten times the price.
It's always about the money.
