CNN’s Tapper on Trump’s ‘Don’t Be Afraid of COVID’ Tweet: ‘There Are Children Who Don’t Have Parents Now’

CNN’s Jake Tapper critiqued President Donald Trump‘s tweet urging Americans not to be afraid of coronavirus on Monday’s broadcast of “The Lead.”

I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 5, 2020

Tapper said, “I want to take a second here. President Trump wrote on Twitter: ‘Don’t be afraid of COVID. Don’t let it dominate your life.’ Almost 210,000 Americans are dead from this disease. Meaning hundreds of thousands of people in this country are morning. Oh, look at that we just reached 210,000 since I’ve been on air. 210,000 Americans dead, hundreds if not millions of Americans mourning them. 7.4 million Americans have contracted the disease. Many of them are going to have health problems for the rest of their life. For President Trump, who gets the best medical care of anyone in the world to say ‘Don’t let it dominate your life.’ There are children who don’t have parents now because of this virus! Don’t let it dominate your life?!”

CNN chief medical correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta said, “Jake, this is so disrespectful, I’m not sure if I can speak about this in some sort of cogent way here. I know people who right now, family members who have lost people, and they watch our programming, and it’s incredibly disrespectful. Obviously not true in the sense he knows how serious it is, and how serious it is since the beginning of February. Just gone through this himself now. It’s a total, total cognitive dissonance even within his own mind what he believes and what he says are diametrically opposed at this point. Not to mention, don’t be afraid of it, encourages this completely dangerous non-scientific approach of herd immunity. What do you mean, don’t be afraid of it, is this it’s? Also, are you advocating people get infected? Nothing to be afraid of. We know if that’s the policy, the approach, 2 million people could die. Hospitals would become overwhelmed. It would responding to a comment like that. It’s gross.”

Tapper said, “I just want to say to anybody out there who’s lost somebody to the virus or is grappling with it or has somebody in their life who is grappling with it because I know young, healthy people who had this virus, who are still not fully recovered and may never be because of the damage to their lungs. I just want the to know there are plenty of us out here who understand that it’s okay to be afraid of COVID. It’s ok that it’s dominating your life because it has dominated your life! And the idea that the President of the United States is out there, because he feels fine, maybe it’s because of a steroid I don’t know, saying this, is so disrespectful to you and I just want you to know you’re not alone if you’re out there, just shocked that this kind of callous indifference would be relayed by the person who is actually charged with protecting you from this virus.”

Baltimore Private School Alums Outraged Over Headmaster’s Condemnation of Anti-Semitism

A group of self-described "white alums" from a historically Jewish private school in Baltimore excoriated the institution's leadership this week after they condemned anti-Semitism from black students, alums, and parents who demanded the school implement a wide-ranging series of reforms.

Baltimore's Park School, which was founded in 1912 by Jews who were barred entry into the city's existing private schools, vowed to work in partnership last month with a cadre of activists calling themselves the "Black at Park Organizing Collective." The group demanded the school change its leadership, curriculum, and hiring practices. It also accused the school of inappropriate "wealth hoarding" and "tolerance of Zionism"—prompting Park School leaders to condemn the collective's use of anti-Semitic language.

Former students calling themselves "white alums to the Park community" in an open letter this week scolded school headmaster Daniel Paradis for condemning the collective's anti-Semitic rhetoric. The alumni suggested that concerns about anti-Semitism are the product of "far right" media outlets, including the Washington Free Beacon, which first reported on the controversy in early September. "As white alums we stand in solidarity with them, doubling down on all of their demands with a renewed emphasis on the critical exploration of the links between Zionism, settler colonialism, and anti-Blackness," the alumni wrote in their open letter, which includes a link to the Free Beacon‘s report.

The unfolding controversy in Baltimore is playing out against the backdrop of nationwide protests by the Black Lives Matter movement against what it claims is systemic racial injustice. These efforts have been marred by the prevalence of anti-Semitism in the BLM movement, which has not shied away from anti-Israel activism. BLM activists across the nation have defaced Jewish establishments and feted notorious anti-Semites like Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.

The Black at Park group's initial September letter demanded "an examination of Park's history: its inception, early exclusions, culture of whiteness and wealth hoarding, its tolerance of Zionism, and its parasitic relationship to Baltimore City."

Park School headmaster Daniel Paradis, in a response to the activists, denounced the inclusion of "language and imagery that is, in its own right, rooted in hatred."

"Specifically, I am referencing the use of pernicious anti-Semitic tropes that have been applied throughout history—and you now apply to Park's history—including ‘wealth hoarding,' ‘tolerance for Zionism,' and ‘parasitic relationship,'" Paradis wrote.

INTEL SOURCES — Gina Haspel Banking On Trump Loss To Keep Russiagate Documents Hidden…

Multiple senior U.S. intelligence officials say CIA Director Gina Haspel has repeatedly lied to the White House about the status of key Russiagate documents and is personally banking on a Trump loss in November to keep key documents hidden.

Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director Gina Haspel is personally blocking the declassification and release of key Russiagate documents in the hopes that President Donald Trump will lose his re-election bid, multiple senior U.S. officials told The Federalist. The officials said Haspel, who served under former CIA Director John Brennan as the spy agency’s station chief in London in 2016 and 2017, is concerned that the declassification and release of documents detailing what the CIA was doing during the 2016 election and the 2017 transition could embarrass the CIA and potentially even implicate Haspel herself.

“Haspel and FBI Director Christopher Wray both want Trump to lose, because it’s the only chance they have of keeping their jobs,” one senior intelligence official told The Federalist. “They’re banking on Biden winning and keeping them where they are.”

Pennsylvania Cops Are Still Abusing Asset Forfeiture To Help Themselves To People's Cash

Asset forfeiture remains one of the most abused law enforcement practices in the country. While some attempts have been made to rein in this abuse, in most locales, it’s just considered a useful law enforcement tool with minimal downsides.

Pennsylvania has some of the worst asset forfeiture laws in the nation. And it shows. Law enforcement has occasionally been benchslapped by judges for traveling past the wide boundaries granted to it by local legislators. In one case, a judge stopped the state from seizing a grandmother’s house just because her son sold officers $140-worth of marijuana from the residence.

In another case, a judge excoriated officers for stripping a house of everything with possible resale value under the pretense that anything of value in it must have been purchased with drug money.

The Drug Task Force does not seize furniture or clothing, silverware, or other items that have low resale value. They focus upon items that have high resale value. That is not a problem in itself, until the police begin to ignore that there must be a nexus to drug dealing or drug money to seize those higher high value assets. […] In this case the Drug Task Force personnel ignored the need for such a nexus and engaged in a shopping spree, for the benefit of their budget, based solely on the property’s resale value.

The problems continue in Pennsylvania. Courts stop what they can when they see obvious abuse, but they never see most forfeiture cases because seizures require money and legal talent to challenge, which are things most forfeiture victims don’t have on hand.

Without a lawyer, people stand little chance. Of the 32 cases The Appeal and Spotlight PA reviewed, the state returned cash or property only when a lawyer got involved, according to case records from the Office of the Attorney General. Out of the $608,000 seized and subsequently prosecuted, the attorney general’s office gave back less than $60,000 after negotiating with property owners’ lawyers.

In more than 75% of the cases reviewed, no challenge was raised or the challenge was raised improperly. Both led to the same outcome: the state taking possession of the seized assets.

In some cases, Pennsylvania law enforcement has deemed seized cash to be "guilty" simply because it’s been in circulation. The article cites two studies detailing how much drug residue ends up on cash, which has the possibility of turning innocent people into suspects Pennsylvania cops have no interest in charging criminally. A 2008 study showed 42% of currency had trace amounts of meth on it. A 2009 study said nearly 90% of currency is contaminated with cocaine residue. If Pennsylvania cops can’t find another pretext to seize cash, they’ll test the cash itself for drug residue and go from there.

Out of 11 cases reviewed by The Appeal and Spotlight PA in which no charges were filed, the attorney general’s office justified seizing people’s money after testing the cash for drug residue in 10 of them.

ELECTIONEERING: Twitter CENSORS Sick Video of Creepy Joe Biden’s Gross, Inappropriate Comments to Little Girls in Florida

Earlier today Joe Biden told a group of young girls he wants to see them dancing in four years.

This was quite a statement!

Cassandra Fairbanks reported on the bizarre statement.

Creepy Joe Biden has struck again, saying that he wants to see young girls at his campaign stop “dancing when they are four years older.”

The shocking incident took place during a campaign stop at the Little Haiti Cultural Center in Miami on Monday.

Speaking with his back to the audience, Biden cracked a joke about how the “bad news” is that he is coming back.

“The good news is, for me, I’m here. The bad news is, for you, I’m coming back,” he said.

At this point, young girls standing off to the side of the stage caught the eye of the Democratic nominee.

“I want to see these beautiful young ladies, I want to see them dancing when they are four years older too,” he said.

Now this…

The creepy video clip is so gross that Twitter is not letting our readers view it.

Facebook breakup would be ‘complete nonstarter’: memo leaked ahead of antitrust report

Separating Facebook from Instagram and WhatsApp would harm consumers, cost billions and defy US law, the social media giant argued in a memo leaked to the media ahead of a congressional report expected to advise otherwise.

The 14-page document was reviewed by the Wall Street Journal over the weekend and amounts to a preview of Facebook’s defense against the pending report from the House Antitrust Subcommittee.

FB says breakup would be a “complete nonstarter” … as if theirs is the only view that matters. A breakup alone will not eliminate threat FB poses to democracy, public health, privacy, innovation, but it would be a fine place to start. h/t:@hoofnaglehttps://t.co/HnD50ubAJa

— Roger McNamee (@Moonalice) October 4, 2020

Facebook’s acquisition of WhatsApp in 2014 and Instagram in 2012 were examined and unanimously approved by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the paper argues. Since then, Facebook has made major investments to both platforms and they now share numerous integrated operations. Splitting them up would be nearly impossible, cost billions of dollars, weaken security and harm user experience, Facebook argued.

A ‘breakup’ of Facebook is thus a complete nonstarter.

The paper also argues that going back on the government’s approval of the mergers would “send a disquieting message to the business community.”

Facebook’s argument may yet backfire, however, as deliberately integrating the messaging and photo-sharing apps to prevent competition or forestall antitrust measures could bolster the government’s case for a break-up, noted one critic, Rutgers professor Michael Carrier.

I explain that when Facebook bought Instagram and WhatsApp, it promised to keep them separate. The antitrust question now is why they’re integrating them. If the only reason is to hurt competitors or forestall an antitrust remedy like breakup, that could present concerns. https://t.co/EWZ2ujWWKs

— Michael Carrier (@profmikecarrier) October 2, 2020

The FTC has reportedly been preparing a complaint against Facebook, and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg is suddenly finding himself with few friends in Washington. Democrats, who once lavished praise on the Menlo Park behemoth, have since singled it out for allowing President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign to leverage Facebook for voter outreach.

Republicans, meanwhile, accuse Facebook of trying to appease liberal critics by censoring, banning or blocking posts made by conservatives. Once considered an asset, Facebook’s massive reach – and outsized influence on US politics, real or imagined – seems to have transformed into a liability.

Pakistan’s ex-PM Sharif, daughter & party leaders face charges of ‘conspiracy against country’ after criticizing military

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and leaders of his party were booked in a sedition case on Monday, after police in Lahore registered a complaint against them lodged by a citizen.

The police report alleges that Sharif, 70, is involved in “conspiring” against Pakistan and its state institutions after making “provocative speeches” from his current residence in London.

“Instead of availing medical treatment in London, Nawaz is carrying out a planned conspiracy to malign the country and its institutions through hateful and provocative speeches,” according to the complaint filed with Shahdara Police Station.

The case has been registered under sections of the Pakistan Penal Code that include sedition and criminal conspiracy to wage war against Pakistan.

The police report also named his daughter, politician Maryam Nawaz, and over 40 other leaders of Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League party (PML-N), who reportedly participated in its meetings last week.

The allegations claim that the former PM made speeches on September 20 and October 1 in which he attempted to promote India’s agenda to “keep Pakistan on the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) grey list,” as well as isolate Pakistan internationally.

PML-N and eight other opposition parties last month accused the country’s military of meddling in politics – and of rigging the 2018 elections that saw Imran Khan become prime minister.

A long-standing critic of the military, Sharif left Pakistan last November to seek medical treatment after being granted bail from a seven-year jail sentence for corruption. He denies the corruption charges.
