St. Louis grand jury indicts McCloskeys for allegedly brandishing weapons, tampering with evidence
A grand jury indicted Patricia and Mark McCloskey for allegedly brandishing their weapons at protesters outside of their St. Louis home. The couple was charged with two counts each for exhibiting guns at protesters and tampering with evidence following the grand jury's announcement on Tuesday. Mark McCloskey condemned the grand jury's decision to charge him and his wife, while the protesters who had allegedly broken down the gate to enter their private neighborhood have not been charged. "They broke down our gate. They trespassed on our property. Not a single one of those people are now charged with anything,” Mark McCloskey told KMOV. “We’re charged with felonies that could cost us four years of our lives and our law license.”
The couple has maintained that St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kimberly Gardner acted with malice when she charged the couple, while letting most protesters and rioters who were arrested go free without charges. Some House Republicans have called on Attorney General William Barr to investigate Gardner's prosecutions. Missouri Gov. Mike Parson, a Republican, has already hinted that he would pardon the McCloskeys if they are found guilty of any crimes.
