He begins by attacking Ratcliffe. Attack the person not the facts.
-
He continues the attack by attributing motives to Ratcliffe (aiding Trump).
-
He admits they're his notes from when he briefed Obama about what Russia was up to. He portrays the briefing as being about highlighting the USAs ability to spy on Russia.
-
He then mentions that 'if' what the Russians were discussing was true then it's still not illegal.
-
He's back to blaming Ratcliffe for selectively declassifying the info as its not illegal even if true. Calling it a campaign activity.
-
He then says he was blind to which party the info referred to. Not sure what that means.
-
He then gets into the memo that was sent to the FBI. He then blurs the issue by stating other memo's were sent highlighting contacts between the Trump campaign and Russians.
-
He ends by again attacking Ratcliffe saying he should declassify some of those memos as well.
In summary, he's protecting himself by falling back on the fact the the Russian info was unverified. The issue is, rather than verifying if the Russian intel was legit, they decided to assume Trump was colluding with Russia and push that narrative. Luckily, we had a lengthy investigation that revealed no collusion.
So know we're in this awkward spot, where a logical person might question whether the Russian intel was legit. For Brennan's sake, lets hope they didn't push Russia Gate knowing that it was all a ploy from the Clinton Campaign.
