This debate will continue until the end of time. Raise your hand if you lost your virginity before 18 with someone nearly your same age?

The issue is when adults are trafficking in kids that (likely) never knew anything other than a life where they were introduced to sex as a means of exchanging favors or money. This is outright abuse; always has been. Other anons are correct, in a legal sense, this type of thing is allowed in some countries. Check your age of consent laws per country. In the Philippines, for example, it's 12.

12

Our own country and the states herein cannot even seem to reach a consensus on this, so you're going to get push-back from advocates of legalizing prostitution and "sexual freedom" saying "fix your shit, then let's talk". Lots of great ideas have been offered up, but we've been bombarded with issue after issue, completely consuming the news cycles, that most people don't even think about this on a day-to-day, or even yearly basis.

After we vote, then there are (eventually) round ups, there's LOTS to talk about and get through to get ourselves on the right path. This is a big one. The way I see it, 18 becomes the default age of consent, with Romeo and Juliet laws to protect minors (no more dads coming after Junior for hooking up with their daughters), and everything over 18 is adult interaction. People traveling from the US to other countries to get around this need to be held accountable to all laws in the country of their destination, as well as US laws. That way, cases could be brought against them, and they can be prosecuted.

Good luck with that, though. Could become a nightmare for those that like to travel abroad, and the court systems.
