Got Q's about baking?

PLEASE COME TO TOMORROW'S TOWN HALL ON BAKING

Thurs night at 7 pm ET here:

Baking Seminar #35, >>>/comms/31580

We've been holding baking classes there since Feb so it's a comfy place to have discussions. Most of those who drop by are anons wanting to learn how to bake but we also get anons who have baking questions or concerns.

This week, we'll step back a little and talk a little more philosophically about baking - what the role is about, how bakers see baking, history on this board.

Also answer q's or address anon comments.

Not too different from what we normally do, except that the focus isn't on teaching baking techniques but how baking more generally.

_Someone asked why we're holding the discussion in the Baking

Class thread. Here's why__:

  1. Bakers have been having LIVE discussions there since Feb''' and it's proven to be a great place to just talk about baking in a lowkey, comfy environment.

  1. Shills and spam who only seek to disrupt the discussion can be kept out. Unlike on QR, BO/BVs are around to delete spam or posts designed to disrupt and temporary ban the '''disrupters (usually just the class is over).

  1. There is no reason not talk there. There is nothing at all wrong with /comms/ board despite what has been said recently. It's an board long used for practice baking by anons and baking discussions by bakers. There has never been any problem with that until recently. OSS has a gripe with comm's BO Rusty, that's all. Such gripes are common on the chans but are between individuals.

  1. The baking class thread has always had a "can-do" emphasis, so it's a good place to talk The focus in on the dough, the breads, and how bakers and anons can work together to keep this place rolling. Every ad for past classes says "All welcome."

>Re question about not allowing spam or obvious shilling

The purpose of this town hall is to have an open and friendly discussion.

What you circled in your cap is refers to the policy of ensuring that shills are not allowed to disrupt the discussion with spam or obvious shillery. An example of spam would be to post "hahahahahaha" as a block over and over again. STuff like like will be deleted and the spammer temporarily banned (just for the duration of class).

We always warn spammers first before banning them or removing offensive posts. But it's a rare problem. After 35 clases,we've only had to "kick out" posters or ban spam about 3 times.

Hope that answers your question,

That is correct, anon.

And there is nothing wrong with it.

Much like conservatives trying to deal with antifa trying to shout them down during meetings.

Good to know there's a way to make sure that open discussions are protected.

Spammers are warned to desist. If they don't, their spam is removed and they are temporarily banned.

Anons can see exactly what was done by checking the board log.

TOWN HALL MEETING

>Anyone is free to attend. But if your sole purpose is to initate disputes designed to break up the meeting, you are not welcome and will be asked to take it elsewhere.

That is a reasonable request anon.

Up to you whether you want to actually discuss as opposed to preventing others from discussing.
