I'll say again, nuclearopsfag here. The explosives stolen would be of little to no use for nuke sites, Ive worked at nearly every nuke in pa, and still work at one of them. TRUST me when I say, you are NOT getting on site, the only faily not protected item is river intake structures, at which point, if something did happen to them, the only outcome is a plant shutdown, nothing scary, happens every year for outages or unplanned on equip failures. It would take a large army to overtake, control, infiltrate, or otherwise damage the ability to shut down safely. The explosives stolen I can near 100% say are destined for something else. Or the people who took them are really stupid, and think hitting river intake will have consequences. Other than giving contractors jobs to rebuild it, no issue with plant. Security is no joke, believe me.

nukeopsfag here, dont go there. Without getting too specific, they are designed to take direct hits from things. If something like this happens, well, the world is pretty much shot at that point anyway so what would it matter? Primary containment is very strong, but I dont know enough about the weapons side to say what would happen there, nor do I want to.

Just know, the stolen explosives are not cause for alarm in the region in regards to nuke power.

Even renewables like the solar salt units use turbine-gens. The blades crack all the time in nuclear, but, we have vibration equipment to know when it needs to be shut down before failure, as well as heavy inspections during outages. Also exposed to not only heat and speed for their size, they deal with varying pressure and mostly dry steam. Still, most made by GE/westinghouse, and yes, they do fail, a lot, just caught before hand. The one failure I do recall sent a blade out of the building and into the parking lot a ways away. The failure on the jet yesterday is consistent with story, but do I believe there was no fuckery, hell no.
