Everyone expects the system to just work because they know how it's supposed to work, but the system is broken and corrupt. You cannot begin to fight back without lawyers willing to take the opposition to court. Tell your friends to call every lawyer in the phone book and ask them if they are prepared to take on a pro bono case on this issue if it comes up, and make a list. With that list of lawyers, your friends are now the people to go to for 2nd amendment issues.
