Left Wing Conspiracy Theories Go Mainstream, All Others Banned – Going Down The Rabbit Hole

With just a few weeks to go before the 2020 presidential elections, politics are getting thicker than mud. The heavily politicized Coronavirus “pandemic” keeps dominating the news cycle – continuing lockdowns and mask mandates, with its subsequent devastating economic realities. Then came the Black Live Matter protest/riots that have rocked the nation – with the insane idea of defunding and eliminating the police with the lack of law and order largely supported by Democratic local officials. As a backdrop to this is all the ongoing investigations of all the malfeasance done by our politicians. And now an October surprise (perhaps not the only one to come), the diagnosis of President Trump’s COVID-19 infection. This political season has got everyone saying, “we have never seen anything like this before.”

All these events have driven many to speculate, and yes, driven many of the conspiracy theories (sometimes parading as truth) we see in the media. Who doesn’t like going down a rabbit hole for a really good juicy story? Part of investigative reporting does involve a bit of speculation (making a hypothesis and then seeking truth to prove or not prove), often called conspiracy theories. One can see the odd things in the news and try to smell “rats” to then expose them. So critical thinking on news events is not necessarily bad. However, one does need to keep a level head to find the truth and not use them to drive a political agenda. So all conspiracy theories are not necessarily false.

And now the latest left-wing conspiracy theory concerning the diagnosis of President Trump’s COVID-19 infection.

Left-wing activist Michael Moore has floated a conspiracy theory on his Facebook page that suggested that Donald Trump’s coronavirus diagnosis was fake. Moore justified his skepticism of Trump’s diagnosis by citing the supposed president’s many lies and incorrect statements.

“There is one absolute truth about Trump: He is a consistent, absolute, unrelenting, fearless, and professional liar. A serial liar. A factually proven liar. How many lies now has the Washington Post proven in these four years? 25,000? A lie at least twice during every waking hour? Think of all the bad people you’ve known in your life. Even the worst ones you couldn’t say that about.,” he wrote.

Moore then asked, “so why on earth would we believe him today? Has he earned your trust now?” He pondered why Trump would “all of a sudden just start telling the truth.”

Not to be outdone, MSNBC’s Joy Reid chimed in and gave Moore’s conspiracy theory even more oxygen.

To hell with public trust and personal example

The prime minister's complete silence over Likud minister Gila Gamliel's lockdown breach and her lies about it prove once again that Benjamin Netanyahu is not even capable of keeping up the façade of true leadership

Forget pink slips or a public reprimand, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not even capable of condemning his own minister's dubious actions.

As far as Netanyahu is concerned, everything is either a political or a party issue.

When Blue & White Tourism Minister Asaf Zamir resigned from the government Friday, Netanyahu immediately lashed out at him via his spokesperson.

It is obvious that Zamir could no longer stomach the stench emanating from the government to which he belonged. He could not stand being part of an administration whose main issue is to make sure people do not protest its decisions.

They have dedicated all their energy to stopping the demonstrations, while all around them the economy is collapsing, thousands blatantly ignore lockdown restrictions and the number of coronavirus sick and dying continues to rise day by day.

But Zamir is no Gila Gamliel. He committed the most heinous crime by leaving a Netanyahu government - not the simple act of lying during an epidemiological investigation, attempting to hide the fact you skirted lockdown rules, drove 150 kilometers to visit family and ignored phone calls by health officials trying to reach you for hours.

As of Tuesday, 48 hours after her escapades were revealed, Netanyahu had yet to say a word about the scandal involving the environmental protection minister from his own party.

During a cabinet meeting Monday, set to extend those same regulations Gamliel violated, Netanyahu seemed pretty reconciled.

"I suggest we wait until the investigation is over," the prime minister said.

Gamliel is a strong personality within Likud, and we must give her the respect she deserves - to hell with public trust and personal example.

After all, the minister has her constituents, the Likud is a family and one does not wash one's dirty laundry in the open. As we all know, the Netanyahus would rather have that done on foreign soil.

What Russia declassification looks like when bureaucrats get involved: a big black blob

One day after promise of no redactions, DOJ and NSC turn over a mostly blacked-out memo from Robert Mueller's Russia probe.

Back in 2019 and again this week, President Trump explicitly ordered federal agencies under his authority to declassify all documents from the discredited Russia collusion probe. "No redactions!" he demanded Tuesday night.

One day after that latest order, Trump's Justice Department released under the Freedom of Information Act a National Security Council email written by an analyst named Eric A. Ciaramella that was referenced in Special Counsel Robert Mueller's final report. The memo was declassified back in March. But it isn't really disclosed.

All but these three words of what Ciaramella wrote NSC strategic communications aide William R. Kelly on May 10, 2017 were blacked out: "Here you go:"

NSC, FBI and DOJ officials cited a variety excuses — including a potential claim of executive privilege — for why they couldn't release the contents. Remarkably, the version released Wednesday contains even less information than what Mueller's report provided about the email's contents a year ago. Fifteen of the redactions were requested by the NSC and two by the FBI.

You can view the memo here:

Final Response 10.7.20.pdf

The lack of transparency was not lost on the Southeastern Legal Foundation, the public interest law firm that filed the FOIA request and received the response on Wednesday. The foundation represents Just the News on several of its FOIA lawsuits.

"SLF was very disappointed, but not surprised, that certain members of the intelligence community are ignoring President Trump's declassification and production orders," said Kimberly Hermann, the foundation's general counsel. "The documents produced to SLF today are completely blacked out so that they hide both the truth behind the Russia-collusion hoax and behind Eric Ciaramella's involvement."

Spokespersons for the NSC and Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment Wednesday night.

In all likelihood, the redactions on the memo were made before Trump's latest order. But they demonstrate just how difficult it is for public information advocates like the Southeastern Legal Foundation to get any transparency for the American public.

The Ciaramella email has been of interest to congressional investigators and others in the investigation of the Russia investigators because it was sent a few days before a news media leak claiming that President Trump had told Russian diplomats he had fired James Comey, and called the FBI director a "nut job."

Ciaramella's email was cited by name in a footnote in volume II of the Mueller report, attached to this claim in the report. "In the morning on May 10, 2017, President Trump met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak in the Oval Office," the report said, citing Ciaramella's email.
