"Virgin Hyperloop has chosen West Virginia to be a test track for its high-speed travel system. The transportation tech company announced Thursday that it will build its new, $500-million Hyperloop Certification Center on nearly 800 acres of land in Tucker and Grant counties.

Hyperloop is expected to move people and goods in wheel-less pods through a vacuum tube at speeds exceeding 600 mph, enabling travel from Pittsburgh to Chicago in 41 minutes or New York City to Washington, D.C., in a half-hour. Today's swiftest trains are less than half as fast.

Los Angeles-based Virgin Hyperloop formed in 2014 and began testing three years later at its track in Nevada. The company employs 500 people. In addition to a site in North Las Vegas, Virgin announced last year plans to build a site in North Texas."
