Over 11,000 Scientists Sign Petition Against COVID-19 Lockdowns

More than 11,000 scientists and medical practitioners have signed a petition against lockdown measures put in place to curb the spread of COVID-19 virus, saying that they are causing “irreparable damage.”

At least 7,000 medical practitioners, and 4,000 medical and public health scientists joined more than 100,000 members of the general public in signing the petition, which was created on Oct. 4 and co-authored by Harvard professor of medicine Dr. Martin Kulldorff, Oxford professor Dr. Sunetra Gupta, and Stanford Medical School professor Dr. Jay Bhattacharya.

“As infectious disease epidemiologists and public health scientists we have grave concerns about the damaging physical and mental health impacts of the prevailing COVID-19 policies, and recommend an approach we call Focused Protection,” reads the petition, which is titled the Great Barrington Declaration after the Massachusetts town it was signed in.

The petition calls for an end to current lockdown policies, saying that they are producing “devastating effects” on short and long-term public health.

Some of these devastating effects, the doctors wrote, including lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease outcomes, fewer cancer screenings, and deteriorating mental health. They argue that this will, in the future, lead to greater excess mortality, with the working class and younger generation “carrying the heaviest burden.”

“Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice,” the petition continues. “Keeping these measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed.”

They instead insist on an approach that instead focuses on protecting the most vulnerable, while working towards achieving so-called “herd immunity,” which they describe as “Focused Protection.”

“The most compassionate approach that balances the risks and benefits of reaching herd immunity is to allow those who are at minimal risk of death to live their lives normally to build up immunity to the virus through natural infection, while better protecting those who are at highest risk,” the doctors state.

“Those who are not vulnerable should immediately be allowed to resume life as normal,” the petition adds.

Hygiene measures including staying at home when unwell and frequent hand washing can help achieve the goal of herd immunity, the petition says. Young “low-risk” adults meanwhile return to the office rather than working from home, it adds.

“Restaurants and other businesses should open. Arts, music, sport, and other cultural activities should resume,” the doctors advise. “People who are more at risk may participate if they wish, while society as a whole enjoys the protection conferred upon the vulnerable by those who have built up herd immunity.”

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) owes President Trump an apology.

The FBI announced on Thursday during a press conference that it thwarted a plot by a so-called “right-wing militia” to kidnap and kill Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and overthrow the state government.

Early Thursday morning, federal agencies raided a house in Hartland, Michigan and arrested six men: Adam Fox, Barry Croft, Ty Garbin, Kaleb Franks, Daniel Harris, and Brandon Caserta.

Whitmer immediately blamed the plot on President Trump telling the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by.”

“Hate groups heard the president’s words as a rallying cry, as a call to action,” Whitmer said blaming white supremacists.

It turns out Brandon Caserta, one of anarchists who was arrested for plotting to kidnap Whitmer, actually hates President Trump and is on video calling Trump a “tyrant.”

“Trump is not your friend dude,” Caserta said.

He says Trump is “a tyrant” and calls President Trump an “enemy.”

Ex-RNC Fundraiser Charged With Failing To Register As A Foreign Agent

Conjuring flashbacks to the Russia probe (though actually it has nothing to do with that), Bloomberg just reported that Elliott Broidy, a former top political fundraiser for President Trump and the RNC, has been charged in the sprawling DoJ investigation into 1MDB, the Malaysian soveriegn wealth firm that was looted by a former PM after being seeded with money raised by Goldman Sachs.

According to the allegations, Broidy participated in an illegal scheme to lobby the Trump Administration to stop investigating the embezzlement scandal. Notably, AG William Barr recused himself from the investigation due to a conflict involving Goldman's top law firm.

Jho Low, the mysterious financier turned fugitive, paid millions to western "consultants" to wage a PR and legal campaign against the US government, which had started seizing assets owned by Low as part of the investigation, including yachts, jewelry and royalties from the movie "The Wolf of Wall Street".

As part of that campaign - which was once chronicled in the NYT - Low paid Broidy $6 million to lobby the DoJ to drop the investigation. However, Broidy never bothered to register as a foreign agent, a charg that political junkies may remember was also lodged against Paul Manafort.

To be sure, Low's lobby efforts started long before Trump was elected. In an indictment handed down in May 2019, federal prosecutors charged Low and former Fugees rapper Pras Michel with illegally funneling foreign money to the Obama campaign.

Former DoJ official George Higginbotham was caught up in the scheme and has already pleaded guilty as has Nickie Mali Lum Davis, one of Broidy's business associates.

The charges against Brody - who made his fortune as a venture capitalist - were outlined in a documented leaked to Bloomberg called a criminal information, which typically precedes a guilty plea.

Broidy's name might be familiar to political junkies, since the donor first found himself in the spotlight following reports that Michael Cohen once arranged a $1.6 million payoff to a former Playboy model who was allegedly impregnated by Broidy.

The financier also worked closely with another disgraced figure: George Nader, a Lebanese-American businessman and convicted pedophile who was once a close adviser to the UAE. Nader lobbied against Qatar during the 2017 GCC crisis. During that time, Nader, evidently successfully, persuaded Broidy to privately press Trump to take positions ever more in line with the interests of the Saudis and UAE regarding both Qatar, and their distaste for former Trump Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Whether or not Broidy’s appeals were instrumental in Trump’s decisions, it's notable that Trump has worked closely with the UAE and Saudi - recently clinching a major peace deal with Israel and the UAE - and embraced many of the positions lobbied by Broidy, who was said to have the ability to get the president on the phone.

Doctors Say Trump Will Return To "Public Engagements" Saturday; 4th White House Reporter Sickened

Update (1900ET): As Nancy Pelosi rallies Democrats to try and push for a 25th amendment removal of power from President Trump's hands, his medical team has just announced in their latest update that Trump plans to return to "public engagements" on Saturday, the 10th day since his symptoms began, at which point they say he will not be infectious.

We can't help but wonder if Trump's press team will later issue a "clarification" about Saturday being "day 10" since it's actually 9 days.

Rapper Tory Lanez Charged With Shooting Megan Thee Stallion

The rap artist known as Tory Lanez has been charged with assaulting Megan Thee Stallion in the Hollywood Hills earlier this year, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed.

Daystar Peterson aka Tory Lanez was charged today with one felony count each of assault with a semiautomatic firearm – personal use of a firearm – and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

His arraignment is scheduled for October 13.

On July 12, Lanez and the 24-year-old victim got into an argument while riding in an SUV in the Hollywood Hills. Megan Thee Stallion exited the vehicle and Lanez is accused of shooting several times at her feet and wounding her.

If convicted as charged, he faces a possible maximum sentence of 22 years and eight months in state prison.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, Hollywood Division.

A Sureños Gang Leader Was Released Under New York Sanctuary Policies. ICE Found Him.

NEW YORK – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement Removal Operations (ERO) officers took custody of Fernando Olea-Prado, 25, a self-described leader of the Sureños (Sur 13) street gang, in Corona, New York, Oct. 1.

ICE previously removed Olea-Prado, who illegally entered the U.S. at an undetermined time and location, on two separate occasions in August 2013.

On Sept. 11, 2020, New York Police Department arrested and charged Olea-Prado, an unlawfully present Mexican national, with three counts of robbery, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of stolen property.

After his most recent arrest, Olea-Prado had been released from local law enforcement custody despite being the subject of an active ICE detainer. Local law enforcement agencies routinely fail to honor ICE detainers as a matter of policy, which was adopted by the local city government.

“Where is the concern for the safety of the citizens that these local politicians were elected to protect?” asks Thomas R. Decker, ERO New York field office director. “It’s reprehensible that local politicians passed a law that allows a twice-removed, violent street gang member to be released from custody to commit more violence in this city.”

Decker went on to suggest that New York’s sanctuary city policies, which bar local law enforcement agencies from cooperating with ICE’s immigration enforcement activities, underscore the importance of ICE’s public safety mission.

“When you have a criminal alien, like Olea-Prado, who flouts U.S. immigration laws, coupled with his gang membership, and the safe haven granted by local politicians, it creates a dangerous situation for New York City residents,” said Decker. “That’s why ICE officers must continue removing violent criminals like Olea-Prado.”

Olea-Prado will remain in ICE custody pending the outcome of his removal proceedings before an immigration judge.

Report: Durham Using Grand Jury To Investigate Debunked Trump-Russia Allegation

U.S. Attorney John Durham has reportedly opened a new front in his investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe.

According to a report, Durham is seeking grand jury testimony from computer scientists behind an allegation that Donald Trump’s real estate company had a secret communications channel with Alfa Bank.

The Alfa-Trump theory was first floated in October 2016, but was debunked in the Justice Department inspector general’s report on the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign.

Durham is also reportedly seeking the testimony of Daniel Jones, a former Senate Intelligence Committee investigator who partnered with Fusion GPS and Christopher Steele in 2017.

The U.S. attorney investigating the origins of the Trump-Russia probe is seeking grand jury testimony from a group of computer scientists behind a since-debunked allegation that Donald Trump’s real estate company had covert computer contacts with a Russian bank, according to a report.

The New Yorker reports that John Durham, the U.S. attorney for Connecticut, has contacted the scientists in recent weeks seeking their testimony.

According to the magazine, investigators have told potential witnesses they are investigating whether two pseudonymous computer experts gave false information to the U.S. government regarding a covert communications channel between the Russian bank, Alfa Bank, and the Trump Organization.

Hillary Clinton emphasized the allegation of a possible link between Trump and Alfa Bank when it appeared in the press days before the 2016 election.

Durham’s use of a grand jury to investigate the allegations about Alfa Bank indicates a new front in his sprawling probe.

Attorney General William Barr appointed Durham in March 2019 to investigate FBI, CIA and other agencies’ Trump-related intelligence gathering activities. Durham has focused heavily on the findings from a Justice Department inspector general’s investigation into the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign.

A report from the IG addressed an allegation about Alfa Bank and the Trump Organization that first appeared in Slate magazine on Oct. 31, 2016. According to the Slate story, a computer scientist who went by the pseudonym Tea Leaves discovered suspicious computer traffic between email servers for Alfa Bank and the Trump Organization.

The Clinton campaign seized on the story at the time, saying that it indicated that Donald Trump was secretly conspiring with Russia.
