Think Judgement, but instead, evil acts make you disappear. The more evil, the less opaque you become. Similar to Marty McFly in Back to the Future, near the end when he's playing guitar on stage and he starts being able to see through his own hand.

This why forgiveness is so important, because it restores the persons' transparency. Depending on the situation, those affected have the choice to forgive, if they do, they become opaque again. If not, POOF, they're gone like a puff of smoke.
