We’ve learned this year again that another entity is fully corrupted by the Democrat liberal left.

The Commission on Presidential Debates claims on its website:

The Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) was established in 1987 to ensure, for the benefit of the American electorate, that general election debates between or among the leading candidates for the offices of President and Vice President of the United States are a permanent part of the electoral process. CPD’s primary purpose is to sponsor and produce the quadrennial general election debates and to undertake research and educational activities relating to the debates. The organization, which is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) corporation, sponsored all of the presidential debates in 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016.

To meet its ongoing goal of educating voters, the CPD is engaged in various activities beyond producing and sponsoring the presidential debates. Its staff prepares educational materials and conducts research to improve the quality of debates.

The first Presidential debate was a mess with FOX News Chris Wallace destroying his career for good by being so patently biased during the debate. Wallace has always been a Never Trumper but he ruined his career with that one.

Next we saw the moderator in the Vice Presidential debate, Susan Page, ask the most outrageous questions of Vice President Pence and we find out she is working on a book with or about Nancy Pelosi.

Then the CPD announced the very next day on Thursday morning this past week that they have unilaterally agreed to hold the 2nd Presidenticial debate online without consulting the President of the United States.

The moderator for that debate, Steve Scully, who was an intern of Joe Biden sent out an anti-Trump message, deleted it and then said he was hacked. We found out he did claimed the same thing years ago.

Kristen Welker, White House correspondent for NBC News and host of the final presidential debate, suspended her Twitter account.

After another debate moderator’s Twitter account was allegedly hacked, a spokesman for NBC confirmed to the Washington Examiner on Friday that Welker suspended her account in order to be especially cautious.

Steve Scully, who was slated to be the moderator for the second debate, claimed that his Twitter account was hacked after his account sent out a tweet that read, “@Scaramucci should I respond to trump.”

C-SPAN, Scully’s employer, said that he “did not originate the tweet” and that the Commission on Presidential Debates was investigating the incident “with the help of authorities.”

The tweet in question has since been deleted.

The debate Scully was supposed to moderate on Thursday will no longer be taking place as scheduled. However, it is unclear whether that debate will eventually be rescheduled.

What a joke the CPD is. They couldn’t pick a more biased and crooked group of moderators if they tried.

China ramps up digital currency pilot testing with transactions topping 1.1 billion yuan

The People’s Bank of China (PBOC) said that 3.13 million transactions have been processed using the nation’s sovereign digital currency as part of a series of ongoing pilot programs in major cities such as Shenzhen and Xiongan.

According to the bank’s deputy governor, Fan Yifei, the currency has been used for more than 1.1 billion yuan ($162 million) worth of transactions. Pilots will also be conducted at the Beijing Winter Olympics in 2022, he said.

The pilot programs have made “positive progress,” with more than 6,700 use cases implemented as of late August for transactions ranging from bill payments and transport to government services.

“PBOC regards digital renminbi as an important financial infrastructure for the future,” Fan said, as quoted by the South China Morning Post.

The e-yuan is being used for multiple payment methods, including barcodes, facial recognition, and tap-and-go transactions, he explained. More than 113,300 personal digital wallets and about 8,800 corporate digital wallets have been opened as part of the pilot program.

Robinhood Users' Accounts Mysteriously Looted And There's No One To Call

In what is likely anybody's nightmare scenario, Robinhood users who have experienced theft from their accounts say they have nobody at the company to call and are not being attended to in a timely fashion, a new report from Bloomberg says.

Soraya Bagheri is one such example. She had 450 shares of Moderna liquidated from her account and saw that $10,000 in withdrawals were pending. She tried to alert Robinhood, but instead got an email back saying the company would investigate and respond within "a few weeks". In the interim, her money is gone.

The article notes that at least 4 other users have had similar situations and, because Robinhood doesn't have an emergency phone number to call, users had to sit back and "watch helplessly as their money vanished".

Bagheri says she contacted the SEC and FINRA alongside of three other users who had a similar problem. Two of the four users have said that the SEC has sought more information from them.

Robinhood also issued a statement to Bloomberg: “A limited number of customers appear to have had their Robinhood account targeted by cyber criminals because of their personal email account (that which is associated with their Robinhood account) being compromised outside of Robinhood. We’re actively working with those impacted to secure their accounts.”

“They don’t have a customer service line, which I’m quite shocked about,” Bagheri concluded.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) has been released from a New Jersey hospital after testing positive for COVID-19 diagnosis of last week.

Christie was admitted to the hospital last week, just hours after releasing the news of his diagnosis.

Christie, who is 58 years old, is overweight and has asthma, putting him at more serious risk than those without contributing factors who end up infected with the virus.

On Saturday morning, the former New Jersey governor shared the news on Twitter, writing, "I am happy to let you know that this morning I was released from Morristown Medical Center. This is Christie's first tweet following the announcement that he'd be checking into the hospital for treatment following news of the positive coronavirus diagnosis.

According to CNN, doctors prescribed the anti-viral drug remdesivir to assist in Christie's treatment.

Christie's positive diagnosis announcement came a day after that of President Donald Trump, who last week announced that he and his wife, Melania Trump, tested positive for the virus.

Trump spent the entirety of last weekend at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center for treatment. He was released on Monday.

Last week, the New Jersey Republican told ABC News that he had spent some time "off and on" at the White House and with Trump himself in order to help prep for the president's debate against Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Christie isn't the only Trump cohort who has tested positive for the virus after the president's positive diagnosis: White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany tested positive for COVID-19 last week, as did Trump aides Kellyanne Conway, Hope Hicks, Stephen Miller, and more.

CDC document bombshell reveals list of all vaccine excipients, including “African Green Monkey Kidney Cells” and fibroblast cells from aborted human fetuses … see the complete list

Almost no one has any real idea what’s found in vaccines. When they allow themselves to be injected with vaccines, they’re oblivious to the fact that they are being injected with aborted human fetus cell lines or African Green Monkey kidney pus cells harvested from infected, disease primates. The Netherlands is a party to the European Convention of Human Rights, article 10 of which states the following: "Everyone has the right to freedom of expression. This right shall include freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers…"

In its case law, the European Court of Human Rights has stated that Article 10 protects not only "the information or ideas that are regarded as inoffensive but also those that offend, shock or disturb; such are the demands of that pluralism, tolerance and broad-mindedness without which there is no democratic society. Opinions expressed in strong or exaggerated language are also protected."

What seems offensive is often extremely subjective…. Speech with which everyone agrees does not need protection.

In the light of the case law of the European Human Rights Court, which specifically protects the political speech of political actors and political campaigns, it is difficult to see how the question Wilders posed could legitimately be limited in accordance with article 10 (2). Wilders did not incite to violence, nor did he jeopardize national security or public safety or any of the other concerns noted as relevant to limiting free speech.

‘No, They Don’t’: Joe Biden Dismisses Idea that Voters ‘Deserve’ to Know Court Packing Stance

Joe Biden (D) said during an interview this week that voters do not deserve to know his position on court packing.

“I know you said yesterday you aren’t going to answer the question until after the election, but this is the number one thing that I’ve been asked about from viewers in the past couple of days,” the interviewer stated.

“Well, you’ve been asked by the viewers who are probably Republicans who don’t want me continuing to talk about what they are doing to the court right now,” Biden responded.

When asked if the voters “deserve” to know his answer, Biden said, “No, they don’t.”

“I’m not going to play his game. He’d love me to talk about — and I’ve already said something on packing the court, court packing,” Biden continued:

“He’d love that to be the discussion instead of what he’s doing now. He’s about to make a pick in the middle of an election — first time it’s ever been done, first time in history it’s ever been done.”

Biden’s claim, that it is the “first time in history” that it has ever been done, is false.

Nineteen times between 1796 and 1968, presidents have sought to fill a Supreme Court vacancy in a presidential-election year while their party controlled the Senate. Earlier in the week, Biden said voters would know his position on packing the court after the presidential election.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) has also refused to say if a Biden-Harris administration would pack the court, dodging the question during Wednesday’s vice presidential debate. She said last year, though, that she was “absolutely” open to the idea.

“We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it,” Biden said of court packing on Friday. “In the meantime, they should not be going forward with this vote.”

Centre-Right Dominates Czech Senate Elections, Social Democrats Wiped Out

PRAGUE (AP) — Opposition parties in the Czech Republic have cemented their dominant position in Parliament’s upper house after winning big in an election for a third of the seats in the Senate, as the ruling centre-left coalition government suffered a setback.

With nearly all the votes counted Saturday by the Statistics Office, the mostly centre-right opposition parties won 26 of the 27 seats up for grabs in the 81-seat Senate in the two-round election.

The senior governing party — the centrist ANO (YES) party led by Prime Minister Andrej Babis — won only one seat. Its coalition partner, the left-wing Social Democrats, won none of the 10 seats they were defending.

Their minority government is supported in Parliament’s lower house by far-left Communists who have no seat in the Senate.

The lower house dominates the legislative process, but the Senate plays an important role in passing constitutional amendments and approving Constitutional Court judges.

A grouping of mayors and independent candidates won 11 seats, followed by the conservative Civic Democratic Party with five and the Christian Democrats with three.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, face masks were required at voting places.

Quarantined voters had the option of casting ballots from vehicles at temporary polling stations across the country.

Those who were unable to use a car or venture out could ask a special electoral committee to send a ballot box to their homes.

Before the coronavirus pandemic, quarantined voters were not allowed to cast ballots, although their numbers were relatively low.

The Czech Republic, population 10.7 million, is seeing a record surge in new confirmed virus cases. Their number hit 8,618 on Friday, a new record for the fourth straight day.

The country has a total of almost 110,000 confirmed cases, including 905 deaths.

Muslim Imam Arrested in Huge Child Pornography Bust

A 50-year-old imam is one of 65 men who have been placed into custody after French police conducted a large-scale operation in multiple cities aimed at tackling child pornography.

The imam is said to preach at a mosque in the department of Eure in the north of France, and was found in possession of more than 400 indecent images of children. He told investigators that he was simply “curious.”

In total, the operation saw 65 arrests carried out by the French Judicial Police’s Central Office for the Suppression of Violence Against Persons (OCRVP), with 220 officers taking part on the operation, LCI reports.

Investigators say that four of the suspects, who were monitored for an extended period of time online, have admitted to raping two girls aged 7 and 14 following their arrest. Two others are said to have worked in careers that brought them in constant contact with children, including a teacher.

French investigators were aided by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the agency’s computer software was used to help identify the men and their connection to child abuse websites. Around 50 mobile phones and 100 computers were seized in the raids.

The case comes just months after a Turkish migrant falsely claiming to be an imam was sentenced to six years in prison for sexually abusing several children in 2012.

The underage victims were sent to the man by their aunt for “purification”. The Turkish migrant sexually abuse the young girls but neither came forward until 2015.

Child abuse in France, particularly child prostitution, is a major issue in some areas of the country, such as the Paris no-go suburbs of Seine-Saint-Denis where up to a third of the children being abused are under the age of 15, with some as young as just six-years-old.

Congressman Demands Harry and Meghan Be Stripped of Royal Titles for Interfering in U.S. Election

Republican Congressman Jason Smith has written to the British government, demanding that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle be stripped of their royal titles, claiming that the couple is using their royal status to interfere in the election against President Trump.

The Missouri lawmaker accused the royal couple of trying to use their titles to campaign against President Donald Trump’s campaign, violating the tradition of the British Royal Family to abstain from interfering in political matters.

In a letter addressed to British Ambassador to the United States, Karen Pierce, Congressman Smith wrote: “As you know, the British Royal Family has long observed a policy of strict neutrality in regard to political matters. I am therefore concerned by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s recent comments regarding the United States Presidential Election, especially given international conversations surrounding foreign interference in our elections and the Duke’s status as a guest of the United States.”

“I respectfully request the British Government ensure The Duke and Duchess of Sussex no longer attempt to interfere in our election or be stripped of all titles, styles, and privileges which they currently retain. I respectfully request you convey these concerns to both Her Majesty the Queen and to Her Majesty’s Government,” Smith added.

Prince Harry and Meghan resigned from their roles as working royals earlier this year in order to pursue private money-making ventures and to further their activist causes. The couple lost their HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles and their public funding, however, they retained their royal titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex as a courtesy.

In September, the Duke and Duchess released a video message urging Americans to vote.

“Every four years we are told the same thing, that this is the most important election of our lifetime. But this one is,” Meghan began, with the language of the message widely interpreted as a thinly-veiled call for voters to turf the incumbent President out of office.

President Trump responded to the couple’s video in a characteristically forthright manner, indicating that he was “not a fan” of Prince Harry’s wife and wishing him “a lot of luck” with her “because he’s going to need it.”

In one instance, the EWG were presented with a plan to advance pharmaceutical products in exchange for a tax on pharmaceutical profits. The proposal would make the WHO a drug pimp for the pharmaceutical industry and the drug makers would have to raise their prices to pay their pimp.

In the EWG draft final report, the financing mechanism included a new indirect tax on the consumer, taxation of repatriated pharmaceutical profits, and new donor funds for health research and development. In order to advance the WHO’s agendas, the final report gave five funding options from Big Pharma: funding via product development partnerships, direct grants to small companies and grants for DC trials, milestone prizes, end prizes, and purchase or procurement agreements.

Now controlled by the pharmaceutical industry, the WHO has been dictating all health information throughout social media and the news networks. Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo and other social media platforms will not allow any health information that is not approved by the Big Pharma-controlled WHO. The pharmaceutical industry is keeping the WHO funded, and is benefiting by using it as the ultimate authority on health, to dictate information on vaccines and drugs and to cover up industry crimes.

An agency that was intended to safeguard public health has been weaponized into a totalitarian dictatorship that not only promotes Big Pharma, but also seeks to eliminate any information or health solutions not patented and profited on by Big Pharma. The WHO has been weaponized and is involved in crimes against humanity. Member countries must work diligently to unravel the WHO’s Big Pharma conflicts of interest and to hold the agency accountable to ultimately restore the integrity of the organization and improve its operations.

The Campaign to “Kill” the BDS Movement Against Israel Extends Far and Wide

Israel is facing declining public support in the United States and sees the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions campaign as a key threat to its legitimacy. That’s why Israel is enlisting the US government, American university administrators, and even tech companies like Zoom and Facebook to try to destroy the BDS movement.

A day before a scheduled San Francisco State University lecture on “gender, justice and resistance” with Black, Palestinian, Jewish, and South African activists, the online meeting company Zoom announced it would not permit the event to take place on its platform. A spokesperson for Zoom cited concerns that hosting the event could violate “applicable U.S. export control, sanctions and anti-terrorism laws,” and the company ultimately threatened to cancel the Zoom account for the entire California State University system if the event went through.

Zoom’s decision to de-platform the event followed a staunch pressure campaign from right-wing Zionist organizations, who took credit online for its cancellation. Tech giants Facebook and YouTube followed suit, cutting the event stream and removing promotional materials from their platforms.

The incident sets a dangerous precedent for private tech companies to censor academic freedoms, university-sanctioned events, and social justice organizing. Dima Khalidi, director of Palestine Legal, explains that the incident is an attack on discussion of Palestinian freedom, “in response to a systemic repression campaign driven by the Israeli government and its allies.” The campaign to censor and de-platform the event exemplifies the growing, coordinated efforts to destroy Palestinian liberation struggles, which have been made even more complicated by the virtual organizing strategies that the COVID-19 pandemic requires.

In recent weeks, the US State Department has committed to “target,” “fight,” and “kill” the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement, a non-violent political campaign exercising free speech on American soil. The comments, made in a recent interview by a spokesperson for the State Department’s Office of the Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism, referred to the Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to squash the BDS movement, expanding what is already a multimillion-dollar campaign encompassing government and private actors, and deploying counterinsurgency tactics, lawfare, and surveillance operations against activists campaigning for equal rights for Palestinians.

The BDS movement, conceived by Palestinian civil society groups in 2005, seeks to exert pressure on Israel to finally end its more than fifty-year occupation of Palestinian lands, to recognize the right of return for displaced Palestinian refugees, and to grant equal rights to Palestinian citizens of Israel. The State Department’s commitment to “kill” this liberation struggle, a movement modeled on the international boycotts against apartheid South Africa, is part of a nationwide right-wing push to suppress criticism of Israel.

US State Department Special Envoy’s Elan Carr has claimed that attempts to “economically strangle the state of Israel” are unequivocally anti-Semitic and said that the department’s efforts to clamp down on BDS would include targeting even those campaigns which call for boycotting goods produced by companies profiting from the expansion of illegal settlements in Palestinian Occupied Territories.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Fire investigators looking into what caused a wildfire that killed four people in far Northern California have taken possession of equipment belonging to Pacific Gas and Electric, the utility reported Friday.

PG&E said in a filing with the Public Utilities Commission that investigators with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection seized some of its electrical equipment near where the Zogg Fire started Sept. 27.

The fire erupted in Shasta County during high winds and quickly grew, killing four people in the community of Igo, population 600. It later spread to neighboring Tehama County. As of Friday, it had scorched 88 square miles (nearly 228 square kilometers) and destroyed more than 200 buildings, about half of them homes. It was almost fully contained.

The utility said it does not have access to the evidence collected by Cal Fire, which has yet to determine a cause for the fire.

PG&E, the nation’s largest utility, recently emerged from bankruptcy stemming from financial fallout from several devastating wildfires caused by its utility equipment that killed more than 100 people and destroyed more than 27,000 homes and other buildings in 2017 and 2018.

Customers in the area where the fire started, near Zogg Mine Road and Jenny Bird Lane north of Igo, are served by a 12,000-volt PG&E circuit. On the day the Zogg Fire began, the utility’s automated equipment in the area “reported alarms and other activity between approximately 2:40 p.m. and 3:06 p.m.,” PG&E told regulators. The line was then de-activated.

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office identified one of the victims as Alaina Michelle Rowe, 45, who was found dead along a road on Sept. 28. The sheriff’s department said another victim was a minor but did not report the identity. KRCR-TV in Redding reported that Rowe and her eight-year-old daughter Feyla died as they tried to escape the fire.

More on the Anti-Semitism Scam: Jewish Students Get Protected Status

In both the United States and Europe there has been an increase in the passage of laws that are intended to protect Jews. Indeed, one might say that one of the few growth industries in Donald Trump’s United States has been the protection of Jewish citizens and their property from a largely contrived wave of anti-Semitism that is allegedly sweeping the nation. Even while potentially catastrophic developments both in the Middle East and the United States continue to unfold, the threat of anti-Semitism continues to find its way into much of the news cycle in the mainstream media.

A survey conducted last month in all fifty states was released with the headline “First-Ever 50-State Survey On Holocaust Knowledge Of American Millennials And Gen Z Reveals Shocking Results. Disturbing Findings Reveal Significant Number Of Millennials And Gen Z Can’t Name A Single Concentration Camp Or Ghetto, Believe That Two Million Or Fewer Jews Were Killed And A Concerning Percentage Believe That Jews Caused The Holocaust.”

The survey is based on the premise that detailed knowledge of the so-called holocaust should be an essential part of everyone’s education. Currently, 12 states already require holocaust instruction in their public school curricula, though that includes five of the six biggest states, and recently passed federal legislation will eventually fund holocaust education everywhere in the U.S. But, of course, the real back story that one must not mention is that the standard holocaust narrative is at least as much fiction as fact and it is employed regularly to create special benefits and protections for both Jews in general and also for the State of Israel. That is why the usual sources in the media become outraged whenever it seems that the propaganda is not effective.

The ignorance of the holocaust story inevitably received wide play in the mainstream media but there are a number of things that all Americans should know about the anti-Semitism hysteria that drives the process. First of all, the extent to which there is actual anti-Semitism and the background to many of the incidents has been deliberately distorted or even ignored by the press and by the government at all levels. Anti-Semitism is hatred of Jews for either their religion or their ethnicity, but many of the so-called anti-Semitic incidents are actually related to the policies advanced by the state of Israel. Organizations like the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which have a vested interest in keeping the number of anti-Semitic incidents high, deliberately conflate the two issues in their reports.

In its 2018 report, ADL reported “1,879 acts,” in the United States during the course of the year. It is not a particularly large number given the size and population of the U.S. and also with respect to what is included. There were certainly some physical attacks, including two shooting incidents at synagogues in Pittsburgh and Poway, but most of the incidents were much less kinetic, including shouting and name calling on university campuses between groups supportive of and opposed to Israel’s repression of the Palestinians.

Hillary Clinton Takes Shot at F-35 Program, Urges Retirement of Old Air Force Planes

In its quest to retire old weapons and aircraft, the U.S. Air Force has an unexpected advocate: former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

In a piece published in Foreign Affairs magazine Friday, Clinton, a former U.S. senator from New York and Obama administration official, proposed that the Air Force, and the military as a whole, hasten plans to "retire aging weapons systems or close bases that have outlived their usefulness" in an effort to free up resources to spend on future technologies.

"Among the highest priorities must be to modernize the United States' defense capabilities. In particular, moving away from costly legacy weapons systems built for a world that no longer exists," Clinton said in the piece, "A National Security Reckoning: How Washington Should Think About Power."

"Deep savings potentially hundreds of billions of dollars over the next decade can and should be found by retiring legacy weapons systems," she said. "New technologies such as artificial intelligence are rendering old systems obsolete and creating opportunities that no country has yet mastered but many are seeking."

She cited China as the primary competitor to the U.S. in this field.

Clinton took a shot at the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program, which has been projected to cost more than $1 trillion over its 50-year service lifetime, and said the Air Force should look to buy fewer F-35s in favor of the B-21 Long Range Strike Bomber (LRSB) program. The Air Force is the largest customer for the stealth fighter aircraft, with hopes to procure 1,763 of the F-35's A-variant.

The Pentagon "sank so much time and money into the project that turning back became unthinkable, especially since the F-35 is the only fifth-generation aircraft currently being manufactured in the United States," she said. "And because the plane directly and indirectly supports hundreds of thousands of jobs across hundreds of congressional districts in nearly every state, it has legions of defenders in Congress."

"The U.S. Air Force will have to focus less on short-range tactical fighter planes and more on long-range capabilities," she continued. "That means it won't need nearly as many F-35s as planned, but it should welcome the arrival of the B-21 Raider, a long-range bomber under development that is designed to thwart advanced air defenses."

In its 2021 budget request, the Air Force proposed retiring multiple aircraft, including a number of KC-10 Extenders, KC-135 Stratotankers and B-1B Lancer bombers, that need repeated structural work; officials have recommended divesting portions of these fleets early in order to avoid upkeep costs for old planes.

The Air Force plans to have 165 to 175 bombers in its inventory once the B-21 comes online. That future inventory is expected to be solely made up of the new LRSB and the B-52 Stratofortress. But some officials maintain that more are needed.

Gen. Tim Ray, the head of Air Force Global Strike Command, has often proposed a bomber force of more than 200 aircraft.

"We've said publicly that we think we need 220 bombers overall – 75 B-52s and the rest B-21s, longterm," Ray told Air Force Magazine earlier this year. The service plans on retiring its B-1s and B-2 Spirits in the early-to-mid 2030s.

"The size of the bomber force is driven by the conventional requirement, and then we manage the nuclear piece inside of that, based on treaty and policy. In the context of the National Defense Strategy and great power competition, 220 is where we think we need to go," he told the magazine in May.

Israel to massively expand settlements after UAE normalization

Israel is moving ahead with thousands of new settlement units in the occupied West Bank.

This represents a dramatic expansion of Israel’s settler-colonial efforts: The vast majority of the housing units are planned in “isolated” settlements outside the large blocs already eyed for Israeli annexation under President Donald Trump’s so-called “Peace to Prosperity” plan.

About 350 units will be added to each of the Beit El settlement, north of the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, the Geva Binyamin settlement, northeast of occupied East Jerusalem, and the Nili settlement, in the central West Bank.

Almost 1,000 new housing units are set to be approved in the so-called Har Gilo settlement, sandwiched between Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

Israel is also advancing plans for almost 700 new housing units in Eli settlement in the central West Bank.

Construction has already started and some units are being approved retroactively.

Another 140 housing units will added in Shiloh, a settlement between the Palestinian villages of Jalud and Quryut, which have filed legal challenges to the construction.

The Civil Administration – the bureaucratic arm of Israel’s military occupation – is expected to give the final green light for 2,500 units on Monday and initial approvals for thousands more.

All of Israel’s settlements are illegal under international law and settlement construction in occupied territory is a war crime.

However, Israel’s expansion of settlements beyond the so-called blocs signals a new confidence that it will face no consequences whatsoever for its actions.

UAE gives Israel a gift

This comes as the lead negotiators of the Abraham Accords – the normalization deal between the United Arab Emirates and Israel – continue to claim they achieved a freeze on Israel’s plans to formally annex large swaths of the West Bank in exchange for the agreement.

In reality, it was the United States that put Israel’s annexation plans on ice months before the UAE-Israel accord was announced in August.

Since the normalization deal was announced, Israeli leaders have repeatedly reaffirmed their commitment to annexation.

In a virtual panel between Emirati ambassador to Washington Yousef Al Otaiba and his friend Israel lobby billionaire mega-donor Haim Saban, the pair discussed behind-the-scenes preparations for the UAE-Israel normalization deal.

The panel was hosted late last month by the publication Jewish Insider and moderated by former Trump administration official Dina Powell McCormick.

Al Otaiba said the Emirati government tasked him with writing an op-ed in an Israeli newspaper in June warning that Israeli annexation of West Bank land would set back efforts to normalize ties.

Al Otaiba explained that annexation was going to be “dangerous to the region” and “dangerous for Israel,” adding that “more importantly,” it would be difficult for the “Americans to defend in our part of the world.”

He made no mention of how Palestinians would factor in, despite it being their land that was the subject of those negotiations.

“The idea came from Abu Dhabi. It was passed to me,” he said.

Tens of thousands nationwide protest against Netanyahu in over 1,000 locations

Reports indicate latest evening of rallies throughout country may be largest yet; Likud: ‘Left can continue protesting, Netanyahu will continue saving lives’

Tens of thousands of Israelis were protesting against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in over 1,000 socially distanced gatherings throughout the country Saturday, the fourth such event since the government instituted a ban on mass protests as part of the national coronavirus lockdown.

In months of protests against Netanyahu over his corruption charges and handling of the pandemic, Saturday evening rallies have drawn the largest crowds. Since the restriction was approved last month, tens of thousands of Israelis have staged protests on street corners and public squares near their homes.

Channel 12 and Channel 13 reported that Saturday’s protests appeared to be the largest yet. The “Black Flags” movement, one of the groups leading the demonstrations, said it believed over 200,000 people were participating in rallies, though its claims could not be independently verified.

Thousands of demonstrators gathered at Tel Aviv’s Habima Square, while appearing to make efforts to keep their distance from one another. Dozens of demonstrators filled neighboring streets, clutching signs saying “Let us go,” “Bibi, you’re destroying my future,” or, simply “Go.”

“We want a government that cares about the public,” said Itay Flicker, a Tel Aviv resident. “We are demonstrating because people are really suffering — in terms of health, the economy, and so on. But the government is totally detached from all that.”

Police officials said ahead of the rallies they would make every effort to allow all demonstrations while keeping to health regulations.
