Worked for VA once, was taken aside by others in the department and told to stop working so hard I was making them all look bad. I was just trying to clean my desk, move files, etc. I paid no attention, then a few weeks later was ordered in to the newly hired boss who took me to task on trumped up BS the others had complained to her about.
Shook the dust off my feet, took a job in the private sector.
Bureaucracies only grow, never shrink, unless forcibly pruned. Need to get out the shears.
