This morning, Varney [Fox Bus] spent quite a bit of time covering Senators Menendez and Blumenthal
regarding how they are opposed to Pompeo as SOS and are being very LOUD about it.
Here are two articles regarding their rationale for being opposed to Pompeo.
Senate panel divided over Pompeo for secretary of state

On Wednesday, the committee's ranking Democrat, Sen. Bob Menendez of New Jersey, became
the latest to announce his opposition, raising concern that Pompeo failed, in their private
conversation, to disclose his recent trip to North Korea to meet with President Kim Jong Un.
-
"I don't expect diplomacy to be negotiated out in the open but I do expect for someone who is
the nominee to be secretary of state, when he speaks with committee leadership and is asked
specific questions about North Korea, to share some insights about such a visit," Menendez said
in a talk at a Washington policy think tank.
-
Pompeo is still expected to have enough votes in the full Senate to replace Rex Tillerson, who was
fired by Trump. But as support peels away, his confirmation may come down to a handful of senators.
The backlash ahead of the committee's vote is a rare rebuke for such a high-profile Cabinet pick.

Blumenthal Opposes Pompeo’s Nomination for Secretary of State, Citing His Stance on ‘Reproductive Rights’

Blumenthal told "Morning Joe" he believed Pompeo's confirmation vote would likely go to the floor with an unfavorable
vote from the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.
-
"I will oppose that nomination," he said on MSNBC. "I believe that Director Pompeo has shown a disdain for diplomacy,
putting military action at a higher priority. He has devalued religious tolerance and women's reproductive rights and
health care, not only in this country but around the world. I think he sets a poor example in terms of American values."
