Looks like the pic was taken a few milliseconds after the shot was fired.

Pistol is returning to battery after full recoil, shell casing is still arcing up, grayish blast cloud can be seen in the reddish OC cloud with a point of origin a couple inches below the muzzle…where the bullet would've exited.

The scarf on the patriot's neck appears to be bunching up between the Adam's apple and right carotid and the necklace dog tag appears to not be hanging, but looks like it is moving in that direction as if the chain is being pulled tight.

Not sure where the point of impact was, but guessing r neck if anywhere. Otherwise the projectile is in flight or non-existent.

Interesting. So I guy with an RMR optic, high dollar light, suppressor height sites, two-hand thumbs forward grip was rolling with a malf in the pipe?

Not sure he could reaquire his grip before the slide returned to battery and I've carried daily for over 30 years, professionally for over 20 don't remember ever clearing at eye level and being back on the gun before the slide dropped back.

I'm thinking this was immediately post fire. I could be wrong…wouldn't be the first, but this doesn't look to trained eyes like right after clearing a malf. Looks like post fire with recoil and blast. Just saying.

I've long ago lost count of the dead men and women I've stood over. Bullets do strange things. That said as a general rule shotguns are extremely messy, rifles are messy, and pistols usually poke holes, but sometimes get messy. Hard to tell from pictures. He looks like he ate a bullet. The terminal ballistics arguments are pointless. WAY too many variables.
