The South Korean government is feeling a new surge of hope after Kim Jong Un’s holiday speech this weekend, with the country’s Ministry of Unification expressing enthusiasm for the “possibility of resuming inter-Korean talks” on Monday.

On Saturday, the North Korean leader stood behind a podium and wished South Korea condolences over COVID-19. Donned in a grey, western-style suit, Kim added that he hopes to soon “hold hands” with South Korea once again.
