I responded to a post about checking voter rolls for voting in another bread. Went back to check on it and it was gone. Reloaded, etc., still gone. Number above and below were there. Whatever. People should understand the difference between voting and being registered to vote.
Checking the voter rolls at the polls is checking voter registration. You are registered to vote. Something you should check before you vote on your county/state site.
Being registered to vote just means you can vote- it does not mean your vote was received or counted.
IF states can do that cross check at the polls, fine. If I vote at the polls I sure don't want to see that I've "voted" when I go in.
Likewise if they can tell you your mail in ballot was received, I guess you will be considered to have voted. All that means is someone said it came in. You can't trace what happened to it once they do that. Was it counted? Was it swapped?
But again, simply checking the voter rolls (registration) does not mean you voted- it just means you can.
