Indeed yes, the closest instance I can think of is the English Civil War. The Commonwealth of England under Cromwell was worse than King Charles I. The restoration involved significant constitutional change that placed more restrictions on the King. In the end in 1688 with the Glorious Revolution was a clean slate. These weren't bloodless.

 

There does need to be vision, a restoration, of sorts. Where the English of the time, restored the monarchy with strict provision, there has to be something similar in restoring the constitution.

 

For the first in history, the companies are bigger than governments and have more power and influence than ever before. Nationalisation and bind them to the first amendment.
