America’s QAnon problem is infecting Canada.

What should we do about it?

By Emma McIntosh | News, US News, Politics | October 15th 2020

This is the third of a series of stories Emma McIntosh is writing as part of National Observer's special coverage of the U.S. election. Read the second story here.

In July, a heavily armed military reservist from Manitoba who had posted memes on Instagram about the QAnon conspiracy rammed his truck through the gates of Rideau Hall. Minutes away from Parliament Hill, Rideau Hall is the official residence of Canada’s Governor General, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s temporary residence is on its grounds.

In September, adherents to the far-reaching and baseless QAnon conspiracy — which falsely alleges the world is controlled by a Satanic cabal of pedophiles who are plotting against U.S. President Donald Trump — joined anti-mask and anti-vaccine protests in Montreal and Vancouver.

On Oct. 4, a political candidate in Saskatchewan resigned after clicking “like” on social media posts supporting QAnon. And a group of people that includes QAnon believers remains camped out on Parliament Hill after making headlines last month for attempting to place NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh under a “citizen’s arrest.”

The unfortunate cultural import from the United States has been kicking around Canada for years, though violent incidents with links to the conspiracy theory are still relatively rare. But QAnon has gained new prevalence here amid COVID-19 and the American presidential election, which presents a peculiar set of problems, experts say.

QAnon-promoting candidate Greene set to endorse Loeffler’s

Senate bid

POLITICAL INSIDER 39 minutes ago

By Greg Bluestein, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

U.S. Sen. Kelly Loeffler is set to accept the endorsement on Thursday of congressional candidate Marjorie Taylor Greene, a controversial fellow Republican who has spread baseless QAnon conspiracy theories and posted racist and xenophobic videos on social media.

Greene is expected to announce her support for Loeffler’s special election bid to fill the remaining two years of retired U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson’s term at an event in Paulding County early Thursday, according to multiple officials with direct knowledge of the plans.

Loeffler’s campaign hopes the endorsement gives her a boost in her brutal feud with U.S. Rep. Doug Collins. The two Republicans are trying to outgun each other for conservative votes in the 20-candidate contest, and polls show they’re in a tight race for second-place behind Democrat Raphael Warnock.

Whether Greene’s support is a difference-maker for Loeffler’s push to make a January runoff remains to be seen. But Greene has quickly become a force within some GOP circles, and she’ll soon represent a deeply-conservative northwest Georgia district that stretches from Atlanta’s outskirts to the Tennessee border.

Her backing comes with baggage. Greene has a history of peddling the far-right QAnon conspiracy theory that falsely claims President Donald Trump is secretly fighting a “deep state” that protects sex traffickers and pedophiles – a bizarre belief the FBI has labeled a potential domestic terrorism threat.

QAnon's latest wild conspiracy theory claims Queen has no right

to the throne

The royal claims of a man named Joseph Gregory Hallett are being supported by a loose coalition of Trump-supporting conspiracy theorists who think he should be King

By Michael Moran Audience Writer

11:34, 15 OCT 2020

QAnon has added a new dimension to its complex web of ideas about paedophiles, Satanists and alien invaders.

The bizarre conspiracy group is entertaining the idea that Queen Elizabeth II has no right to the throne.

Messageboards members are now claiming that Britain’s rightful monarch is a man named Joseph Gregory Hallett – referred to by some as King John III.

QAnon's interest in Hallett dates from April, when he published 34-page document claiming that the “illegitimate conception of King George V” means that every monarch since 1840 has been what he calls a “flat lie royal.”

Hallett’s justification for his claim involves, as all good conspiracy theories do, the Rothschild family.

According to him the great European banking dynasty bought the royal family’s “breeding rights” as part of a series of loans that Britain took out to finance the Napoleonic Wars.

While some QAnon cultists are supporting his claim, others are not so sure. Other anonymous commenters on the fast moving conspiracy message board scene claim Hallett has ties to Ghislaine Maxwell, the Nazis and even Satan himself.

China warning: Beijing orders US out of Taiwan Strait -

troops ‘on high alert’

CHINA has ordered the US to leave the crucial Taiwan Strait or Beijing may be forced to take action against the state.

By BILL MCLOUGHLIN

PUBLISHED: 11:06, Thu, Oct 15, 2020 | UPDATED: 11:06, Thu, Oct 15, 2020

The USS Barry sailed through the sea between China and Taiwan today, causing officials on the mainland to warn Washington over any “provocative” acts. A spokesperson for the PLA Eastern Theater Command, senior colonel, Zhang Chunhui also warned troops will do everything to maintain China’s territorial integrity in the region. The army official also claimed the US has sent several signals encouraging Taiwan’s independence movement due to its actions in the East China Sea.

He said: “We warn sternly the US side to stop its provocative and trouble-making words and moves in the Taiwan Strait.

“The troops of the PLA Eastern Theater Command will keep high alert all the time, resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity and firmly protect peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.”

Despite his accusations towards the US, Washington has maintained any actions in the area are under the guise of freedom of navigation operations.

The Taiwan Strait is an incredibly important waterway for global trade.

Hunter Biden story trips social media misinformation alarms

Axios Scott Rosenberg, Ina Fried

In 2016, hacked emails and foreign meddling shaped the political fight, and social media took much of the blame. Afterwards, the platforms designed circuit breakers to avoid a repeat in 2020.

What's happening: Those breakers tripped Wednesday at both Facebook and Twitter to stop the spread of a New York Post story that reported allegations about Joe Biden's son Hunter, based on what the paper said were emails provided to it Sunday by Rudy Giuliani.

Yes, but: The action by the platforms drew a swift backlash from conservatives — with the ironic result of drawing more attention to the material.

The big picture: For years, CEO Mark Zuckerberg has positioned Facebook as a free-speech champion. "When it's not absolutely clear what to do, we should err on the side of free expression," he said almost exactly a year ago in a speech at Georgetown.

Column: Joe Biden had this impeachment thing that was bleepin’

golden, but Hunter Biden messes it up

By JOHN KASS CHICAGO TRIBUNE | OCT 15, 2020 AT 5:00 AM

Isn’t it odd that Joe Biden and the Democrats have somehow forgotten to use their ultimate weapon against President Donald Trump in this campaign?

How to describe this super weapon? A Chicago Democratic political crook pardoned by Trump might say Joe has thing and it’s bleepin' golden:

Trump’s impeachment in December 2019, making him only the third president in the nation’s history to be impeached by House vote. Wouldn’t you think Biden and the Democrats would be raising that issue, relentlessly, in the battle for Trump’s reelection?

Yet you hardly hear of it anymore.

Democrats accused Trump of a quid pro quo — that he threatened to withhold aid from Ukraine unless it investigated various Biden family dealings there.

It was a terrible move by Trump to leverage aid for a political favor, on the verge of criminal. But I didn’t think it rose to the level of removal from office.

Cable news, all the news sites and social media were full of speculation 24/7. Though the Democrats didn’t have the votes to convict in the Republican-controlled Senate, they bragged that they’d use that impeachment stick and whomp Trump good in the campaign.

I had the feeling the impeachment was like an ax handle and they’d whomp him like some rabid critter you might find in your shed.

Yet now they don’t use it, one of the more curious features of this rather curious campaign.

So, what happened to the ultimate weapon?

Hunter Biden.

He had met business officials in foreign countries while traveling with his father, then Vice President Joe Biden. In Ukraine, Hunter Biden joined the board of Burisma Holdings, a large natural gas company serving that country, and records showed he began raking in more than $50,000 a month though he had little-to-no experience in the field.

Joe Biden says he never discussed business with his son. He wasn’t involved with Burisma. Joe didn’t know anything.

Trump threatened Facebook and Twitter again

after they throttled the spread of a dubious New York Post story about Hunter Biden

Isobel Asher Hamilton 2 hours ago

US President Donald Trump expressed outrage Wednesday when Facebook and Twitter decided to limit the spread of a dubious New York Post story about Hunter Biden, the son of Trump's presidential rival Joe Biden.

"So terrible that Facebook and Twitter took down the story of 'Smoking Gun' emails related to Sleepy Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, in the @NYPost," Trump tweeted Wednesday.

Neither Facebook nor Twitter took down the New York Post article.

The Facebook spokesman Andy Stone on Wednesday said the platform was "reducing its distribution" of the story while it gave its third-party fact-checkers time to look over the piece. The article appeared to be riddled with holes and red flags.

Twitter blocked users from tweeting links to the story, and a spokesman said this was because the article broke its "Hacked Materials Policy." Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey later said that the platform's communication about its actions "was not great" and that blocking users from sharing the article without any context was "unacceptable."

Trump added a threat to the tech platforms in his tweet, saying: "It is only the beginning for them. There is nothing worse than a corrupt politician. REPEAL SECTION 230!!!"

Or you could take the word of a used car salesman who associates with known cult's (Ramtha) who read a book written by a multiple felon, white supremacist who associates with known terr'rist org's (Army of God) and who is an Alex Jones Flunky aka Fritz Springmeier aka Viktor Schoof.

And you might also find it odd that once "SEAL TEAM 6" raided Osame/Usama bin Laden's hideout that they "found" a copy of "Bloodlines of the Illuminati" in his Library of books and they made sure that every media outlet in the nation published a list of these books usually with a picture of Osama beside "Bloodlines" and then the CIA published a copy as well!

That is a whole lot of info to digest at one sitting so maybe narrow it down a bit and make multiple graphics?

I tend to do both one large graphic and several smaller graphics.
