After Partnering With ADL, PlayStation Releases Update to Spy On Users' Voice Chat For 'Violations'

PlayStation's latest update allows users to snitch on fellow players by recording their voice chat so they can be punished for speech "violations."

The move comes just a few months after PlayStation partnered with the Anti-Defamation League, a leftist group which advocates for online censorship and hate speech laws in the name of stopping "the defamation of the Jewish people," to pressure Mark Zuckerberg to ramp up censorship on Facebook (Zuckerberg dutifully complied).

From The Verge, "Sony will let PS5 owners record their voice chats and snitch on fellow players":

Some PlayStation 4 users who downloaded the latest 8.0 update got an unwelcome surprise this morning: their console informed them that Sony had the right to record their voice for moderation purposes.

Initially, the update’s release notes contained no mention of voice recordings. But at some point today, Sony clarified what the messages meant in an update to its official blog post.

Here is Sony’s exact language:

Following this update, users are seeing a notification about Party Safety and that voice chats in parties may be recorded. Voice chat recording for moderation is a feature that will be available on PS5 when it launches, and will enable users to record their voice chats on PS5 and submit them for moderation review. The pop up you’re seeing on PS4 right now is to let you know that when you participate in a chat with a PS5 user (post-launch), they may submit those recordings from their PS5 console to SIE.

To translate that statement, it seems that by joining a voice chat, even with the older PlayStation 4, your voice can be recorded and submitted to Sony for moderation by another user. This could certainly be invasive — in theory, anything you say in a voice chat could be sent to Sony without your explicit consent. But the feature could also be a useful tool to help people report bad party members that may be harassing them.

The Post Millennial reported earlier this month that EA had partnered with the ADL to "enforce social justice in gaming."

Sky News understands there has been a problem with Mr Morrison’s plane, leaving him in the state for an additional day, but the technical trouble is unclear.

National Cabinet is supposed to meet once a fortnight, but the leaders have not met for a month.

An exact date for next week’s meeting has not been set.

It’s understood Mr Morrison can’t conduct the conference call with a computer in Queensland because the meeting needs to be undertaken from a secure facility.

Top Black Citicorp Executive With High-Powered Allies To Leave Bank To Run For Mayor Of New York City

McGuire’s campaign will be co-chaired by Valerie Jarrett, the former close adviser to President Barack Obama

Film director Spike Lee is also expected to join McGuire’s campaign as a co-chair

At Citi, McGuire has advised on transactions valued at more than $250 billion

A top Black senior executive at Citigroup (C), with some well known supporters, is planning to ditch his job to run for mayor of New York City as a Democrat.

Raymond McGuire, 63, Citi’s vice chairman and chairman of its global banking, capital markets and advisory business, hopes to succeed current Mayor Bill DeBlasio, whose term expires on Jan. 1, 2022.

McGuire is considered one of the most prominent Black executives on Wall Street.

McGuire’s campaign will be co-chaired by Valerie Jarrett, the former close adviser to President Barack Obama, CNBC reported. Charles Phillips, the former CEO of Infor, an enterprise software company, will also co-chair the campaign.

Film director Spike Lee is expected to join McGuire’s campaign as a third co-chair.

“We’re in a war for the survival of this great city. Without a doubt we can do this. From the streets to the suites,” McGuire told CNBC.

McGuire said he was particularly affected by the death of George Floyd, the unarmed black man who was killed by a white policeman in Minneapolis earlier this year. McGuire characterized the incident as “cold-blooded murder.”

McGuire recently wrote a preface to a report issued by Citi titled, “Closing the Racial Inequality Gaps.”

In that preface, he wrote that even with all his accomplishments and credentials, “I am still seen first as a 6-foot-4, 200-pound Black man wherever I go – even in my own neighborhood. I could have been George Floyd.”

Phillips told CNBC that New York City faces its biggest “economic challenge in decades and we need to execute with purpose and efficiency. Ray is the right person to lead and unify the city to create something better when we get through this. He took the time to prepare and he’s more than ready to outwork everyone.”

McGuire has also called for better healthcare and reform of the education systems in low-income and minority neighborhoods, Bloomberg reported.

“Service is an important and necessary part of my journey and it should be an important and necessary part of all our journeys,” McGuire said at the Economic Club of New York in June. “Wherever I think I can be best and most highly effective, that’s the path that I will follow.”

At Citi, McGuire has advised on transactions valued at more than $250 billion, including Time Warner’s separation of Time Warner Cable and Conoco Phillips Co.’s (COP) acquisition of Burlington Resources.

Daryl Maguire was ‘surrounded by Chinese Money’

NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham says disgraced former MP Daryl Maguire was “surrounded by Chinese money” and Premier Gladys Berejiklian had an obligation to notify authorities as China could have used their relationship for political interference.

“He (Maguire) had been the beneficiary of travel expenses to China from two Chinese agents who had funded the late Labor MP Eric Fitzgibbon. Decades ago they also funded Maguire,” Mr Latham told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“Furthermore, he was a key player in what was called the Counsel for Reunification of China, which was a Chinese Government united front group chaired by Huang Xiangmo, the notorious Chinese agent.

“So Gladys Berejiklian went to those events with Maguire - incidentally they would have met up there.”

Mr Latham said Premier Berejiklian “knows her boyfriend is surrounded by Chinese money in these land deals, she knows that these people are Chinese agents”.

“She had an obligation clearly under the Turnbull laws of foreign political interference to notify the security authorities," he said.

“Most likely the Chinese knew of the relationship … and in the way of these things they would use that secret quite possibly to extract political concessions in New South Wales to the benefit of the Chinese Communist Government, that’s how it works.

“I know it sounds a bit James Bond but Chinese political interference in Australia is real.”

Destroying the Institutions We Inherited

In the 21st century, hallmark American and international institutions have lost much of their prestige and respect.

Politics and biases explain the lack of public confidence in organizations and institutions such as the World Health Organization, the Commission on Presidential Debates, the Nobel Peace Prize, the Pulitzer Prizes and the Academy Awards.

The overseers entrusted with preserving these institutions all caved to short-term political pressures. As a result, they have mostly destroyed what they inherited.

The World Health Organization’s director-general, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, is the first person without a medical degree to hold that position. Why? No one really knows.

In the critical first days of the rapidly spreading COVID-19 pandemic, almost every statement issued by Tedros and the WHO about the origins, transmission, prevention and treatment of the virus was inaccurate. Worse, the announcements predictably reflected the propaganda of the Chinese government.

The bipartisan Commission on Presidential Debates was formed in 1987 for two purposes: to ensure that during every presidential campaign, candidates would agree to debate; and to ensure that the debates would be impartial and not favor either major party.

Unfortunately, in 2020, the commission so far has a checkered record on both counts.

Conservatives have argued that the moderators of the first presidential debate and the vice presidential debate — Chris Wallace of Fox News and Susan Page of USA Today — were systematically asymmetrical in their questioning.

The moderators asked both President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence to explain prior controversial quotes and then to reply to critics’ accusations. The moderators did not pose the same sort of gotcha-type “When did you stop beating your wife?” questions to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden or vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

Although the vice presidential debate was conducted with proper social distancing, along with screens and testing to protect the candidates, the commission abruptly canceled the second live presidential debate for safety’s sake and insisted it be conducted remotely.

Yet White House doctors have cleared Trump, who recently contracted COVID-19, as both medically able to debate and no longer infectious.

The public perception was that a remote debate would favor the frequently teleprompted Biden, who has been largely ensconced in his home during the last six months, and would be less advantageous to Trump, who thrives on live, ad hoc television.

Susan Page is currently writing a biography of Trump’s chief antagonist, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif). The designated moderator of the now-canceled second presidential debate, Steve Scully of C-SPAN, once interned for Vice President Joe Biden.

The Nobel Peace Prize has been subject to criticism over the years for failing to adequately recognize either diplomatic or humanitarian achievement.

Azerbaijani President Aliyev Says Armenian PM Pashinyan is a Product of George Soros

In an exclusive parallel interview with Sputnik, Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have addressed the most pressing issues regarding the ongoing conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. Both leaders were given an equal amount of time and identical questions.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev expressed his belief in an interview with Sputnik that Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was a product of US billionaire and philanthropist George Soros, known for his generous donations to political causes.

"The collapse of the Soviet Union indeed started with separatism in Nagorno-Karabakh. That was the trigger. People often forget about those rallies, who organised all this, who was behind it," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev told Sputnik News Agency Director General Dmitry Kiselev in an exclusive interview.

"I often say that Pashinyan is a product of Soros, and I believe everyone would agree with that. Soros is not just an individual, he is a concept. I in no way rule out that such instruments were used back then to disintegrate the great nation. Just blow it up from the inside, sow discord, play off the people, and disintegrate the country."

Azerbaijan to Never Accept Nagorno-Karabakh’s Independence

“Our stance has always been based on pragmatism and I think that the ideas that already exist at the negotiating table show this clearly. As for the red lines, we have stated this clearly and the co-chairs of the Minsk Group know this very well — under no circumstances can the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan be compromised, under no circumstances can Azerbaijan agree to recognise the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh.”

Baku Sees Karabakh Conflict as War of Liberation, While Yerevan Views it as Conquest

“Any war means cruelty, victims, human suffering, loss of loved ones, but the difference is that this is a war of liberation for Azerbaijan and a war of conquest for Armenia. It is no secret — and it is something that international mediators are aware of — that there are no so-called armed forces of Nagorno-Karabakh. Ninety percent of the troops in the group that Armenia calls by this name are Armenian citizens. The Armenian military summons them and sends them to Azerbaijan’s occupied territories: Agdam, Fizuli, Gebrayil, Kalbajar, Qubadli, Lachin, Zangilan.”

Armenian, Azerbaijani Communities Can Coexist in Nagorno-Karabakh

At the same time, Baku believes that “the Armenian community and the Azerbaijani one can peacefully live and coexist in Nagorno-Karabakh in the future”, the president said.

Aliyev explained this was already the case in other areas of Azerbaijan, including the capital Baku, with its thousands-strong Armenian community, as well as in Russia, Georgia, and other countries.

“Why can’t we have it here?” Aliyev said.

Hot Mic Reportedly Catches Dianne Feinstein Comment About Amy Coney Barrett’s Religion

Democratic California Sen. Dianne Feinstein reportedly got caught on a hot mic making a comment about Supreme Court Justice nominee Amy Coney Barrett’s religion.

Feinstein reportedly commented about the fact that Barrett, a devout Catholic, was pro-life, according to Tré Goins-Phillips, an editor for Faithwire.

“She’s been pro-life for a long time. So I suspect with her, it is deeply personal and comes with her religion,” Feinstein reportedly said.

EU Commission chief von der Leyen leaves Brussels summit for 2nd Covid quarantine in a month

The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, left the EU summit in Brussels suddenly on Thursday, after it transpired a member of her office had tested positive for the virus.

The Commission chief left the summit less than an hour after it began, saying she was going into quarantine, in line with coronavirus health rules.

“I have just been informed that a member of my front office has tested positive to Covid-19 this morning. I, myself, have tested negative,” she tweeted. “However, as a precaution, I am immediately leaving the European Council to go into self-isolation.”

This is the second quarantine for von der Leyen this month, as she already self-isolated on October 5, after meeting a person who later tested positive for Covid-19.

EU leaders continued the meeting on Thursday as planned. Before her abrupt departure, von der Leyen met with Czech PM Andrej Babiš and Portuguese PM Antonio Costa.

Prior to the summit, von der Leyen said the discussions would focus not only on Brexit trade negotiations and other matters, but on Covid-19, because “citizens expect clear and effective answers.”

Speaking about the pandemic before the start of the two-day summit, she said the situation in Europe was “more worrisome,” but EU leaders had agreed on a “traffic light” to help member states identify whether to require testing or quarantine for non-essential EU travelers such as tourists.

Von der Leyen told reporters that the EU needed to establish common rules on quarantining and testing, instead of the current confusion of different regulations across the bloc. She also said the EU would help member states prepare their vaccination campaigns.

“If we want our vaccination to be successful, we need to prepare now,” she tweeted.

Arab League head DENOUNCES Israel's approval of over 2,000 new settlement units in occupied West Bank

Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit has condemned Israel's move to approve the construction of around 2,000 new housing units in the settlements of the occupied West Bank.

In comments released on Thursday, Aboul Gheit noted that the resumption of illegal settlement activity comes despite the Israeli government's claims that it is seeking peace in the region. The approvals remain a formidable obstacle to the implementation of a two-state solution to the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, he said.

"[The] Netanyahu government's insistence on moving forward with settlement activity to satisfy the extreme right wing reflects its rejection this solution and even its commitment to destroy the chances of achieving it in the future," Gheit said.

The latest approvals for new Jewish settlements in the West Bank come less than a month after Israel agreed to "suspend" annexation of parts of the disputed territory, envisioned by US President Donald Trump's administration as part of its plan for Middle East peace, in exchange for normalizing ties with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

Banks, Big-Tech, & Black Gold Bust As Bitcoin & Bond Yields Bounce

A 3rd day lower in a row for big-tech-heavy Nasdaq.

US equity markets tumbled overnight on the back of reaccelerating COVID cases and the concomitant lockdowns across Europe. Once the US cash markets opened, we were off to the races with Small Caps and Trannies ramped back into the green (and Dow & S&P tried their best). Nasdaq underperformed again…

On the week, thanks to today's buying panic during the day, S&P and Small Caps managed to scramble back into the green (Dow is red on the week while Nasdaq is holding gains for now, ahead of tomorrow's op-ex)…

Massive WHO Study Shows Remdesivir Doesn't Lower COVID-19 Mortality

Another speedbump has emerged in the drive to produce reliable COVID-19 therapeutics as a highly anticipated WHO drug trial called Solidarity found that Gilead's COVID-19 treatment, remdesivir, had no substantial effect on a COVID-19 patient's chances of survival. It also found that three other therapeutics were similarly ineffective.

The FT called the data a "significant blow" to efforts to find a drug that could help save late-stage COVID-19 patients. What's more, none of the drugs "substantially affected mortality" or reduce the need to ventilate patients.

Other drugs examined in the trial included hydroxychloroquine, lopnavir and interferon regimes. All of them had "little effect" on hospitalized patients.

Along with failing to lower mortality, the results showed the drugs had little effect on how long patients stayed in the hospital.

The disappointing results appear to contradict widely hyped results from an earlier trial in April which appeared to show that the drug reduced recovery time from 15 to 11. Gilead later released data suggesting the vaccine might lower incidence of death, but that finding has not been confirmed in randomized trials.

Traders will recall that Gilead's press releases touting inconclusive data helped pump the company's stock in the spring. Since then, the treatment has been given to President Trump, though the president credited an antibody therapy from Regeneron as the drug that made the difference, calling it a "cure".

Despite all this, the drug was given preliminary approval in both the US and the UK, and earlier in October the EU signed a deal to supply up to 500,000 treatments courses of the drug, with an option to add more. Now, it looks like the drug is potentially useless, showing the limitations of this strategy.

Gilead released the following comment to the FT.

"We are aware that initial data from the World Health Organization's (WHO) SOLIDARITY Trial has been made public prior to publication in a peer-reviewed journal," Gilead said in response to a request for comment. "The emerging data appear inconsistent with more robust evidence from multiple randomized, controlled studies validating the clinical benefit of [remdesivir]."

One expert quoted by the FT, which published leaked data (the WHO refused to comment on the grounds that the results hadn't been formally released), said that a trial as large as Solidarity would have discovered a therapeutic benefit "if one existed". The remdesivir arm of the trial involved 2,750 patients.

A US NIH study published last week found that the drug may have helped reduce hospital stays by as many as 5 days, but there was no discernible impact on mortality.

Minnesotans Face Months-Long Gun Delays in Obtaining Gun-Carry Permits

Local authorities ignore state law on wait times

Residents who want to carry a gun to defend themselves in Minnesota are facing unprecedented hurdles as permit wait times skyrocket amid record demand.

As many first-time gun buyers attempt to transition into first-time gun-carriers in the aftermath of rioting in Minneapolis, many are being told they will have to wait months just to turn in their application—well beyond the 30-day window set out in state law. Other Minnesotans are being told they can't renew their current permits until after they've already expired.

The backlog has caused significant consternation among gun owners—a key voting bloc in the pivotal swing state. If state officials are unable or unwilling to bring wait times down, it could motivate gun owners to turn out at higher levels in 2020 and beyond.

"The appointment time I received was over 90 days out," Jamie Darr, a Ramsey County resident who has had a permit for a decade, told the Washington Free Beacon. "That’s nearly four months to obtain a permit for a constitutional right to bear arms."

Gabe Stitzel, a 48-year-old IT professional from the Twin Cities, told the Free Beacon the earliest appointment he could get was in late November. That's a significant problem for him since his current permit expires about 50 days before then.

"I was tolerant of limited interactions when the COVID scare was at its height but my issue with the current situation is the counties and state have made allowances for other government applications but not this one," he said. "The appointment only process is burdensome to the large and growing population of permit holders in the state. Honestly, it seems petty as they know there's an issue."

Democratic governor Tim Walz did not immediately respond to a request for comment about whether he'd extend the expiration date on current permits or what his administration is doing to address the backlogs around the state. Local officials blamed the backlog primarily on demand.

Pompeo, DeVos Take Aim at Chinese Influence in American Schools

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos took aim at Chinese Communist Party influence in the United States' K-12 education system in an open letter to state education commissioners.

The letter primarily warned educators about the potential harms of Confucius Classrooms, the K-12 partners of college-level Confucius Institutes. Confucius Classrooms are Beijing-funded initiatives for American schools that ostensibly support cultural exchange and competency—while subtly propping up a pro-Chinese Communist Party agenda.

"The presence of an authoritarian slant in curriculum and teaching has never been more concerning, nor more consequential," the letter reads. "At any grade level, the presence in U.S. classrooms of instructors supported by an authoritarian regime poses risks to our democratic values."

Participants in Confucius Classrooms have noted that the programs restrict academic freedom. Program instructors often avoid discussing topics showing Chinese Communist Party in a bad light, such as the regime's Uighur concentration camps and political abuses against Hong Kong.

Other countries have already banned Confucius Classrooms from their education systems. In 2019, many local governments in Canada and Australia stopped the program, citing many of the academic freedom and human rights concerns that Pompeo and DeVos point out in the letter.

Congress has also shown support for the Trump administration’s effort to root out Chinese propaganda in education. Like the secretaries' letter, the House China Task Force's recently released report identifies Confucius Classrooms as a serious threat to American academic freedom and offers proposals limiting Beijing's grip on American education.

Task force chairman Michael McCaul (R., Tex.) tweeted praise for Pompeo and DeVos's letter.

"While it may come as a surprise that the #CCP has infiltrated US K-12 education, the threat is real & growing," McCaul wrote. "I applaud @SecPompeo & @BetsyDeVosED for taking steps to protect US classrooms & schoolchildren from the CCP's malign influence."

The American public appears to be taking notice of Chinese influence in education. A Thursday Washington Free Beacon report followed an ongoing movement to root out Chinese Communist Party influence at Tufts University.

Cheatin’ Cal Cunningham Voted to Prevent Jilted Wives From Suing Their Husbands’ Mistresses

Cheating husband Cal Cunningham didn't accomplish much in his career as a state senator, which lasted just two years from 2001 to 2003. He was newly married but still in his late 20s, and perhaps eager to see if the young women of Raleigh, N.C., were as attracted to power as his recently acknowledged mistress, Arlene Guzman Todd.

As it turns out, one of the votes Cunningham cast as a state senator was directly relevant to the situation in which he finds himself today—an admitted philanderer trying to run out the clock until Election Day while refusing to come clean about the existence of other mistresses.

In 2001, Cunningham supported legislation to abolish so-called homewrecker laws that allow a spouse whose husband or wife has an affair to sue the third party paramour for "alienation of affection" and "criminal conversation." The bill, which passed the state house but failed in the senate, enjoyed near-unanimous support among Democratic legislators.

Despite Cunningham's best efforts, those civil statutes remain on the books in North Carolina, meaning his jilted wife Elizabeth could sue Guzman Todd, and any other mistress who comes forward, for interfering with her marital relationship and violating her right to exclusive sexual relations with her husband.

In 2019, a North Carolina man won a $750,000 judgment against his ex-wife's lover after filing a lawsuit under the "alienation of affection" statute. That's nothing compared with the $8.8 million a North Carolina judge ordered another man to pay in tangible and punitive damages to the husband of the woman with whom he was having an affair for 16 months.

Cunningham's wife is not the only North Carolina woman named Elizabeth to be cheated on by a prominent Democratic politician. Elizabeth Edwards, the jilted wife of disgraced former senator John Edwards (D., N.C.), threatened to sue her husband's longtime staffer under the "alienation of affection" statute in 2010.

The aide, Andrew Young, was accused of helping the senator conceal his affair with former campaign worker Rielle Hunter, with whom Edwards fathered a love child. Young, who initially claimed to be the child's father, said Edwards had urged him "get a doctor to fake the DNA results."

Cunningham, who is threatening to unseat Edwards as the horniest Democrat in the history of North Carolina politics, has faced a barrage of attack ads from Republican-aligned groups, including one that concludes with the line, "We don't need another John Edwards in the Senate."

L.A. County Transfers up to $14 Million from Cops to Illegal Migrants

Well this certainly explains a lot…

Somebody posted up a video of a man filming what has happened to Venice beach, and the lack of police support cleaning up the tent cities…

In fact tent cities are all over California, right???

More Migrants means more tent cities and the lack of policing…

Good job California!!!

The October 12 vote by the five-member county board is intended to settle a lawsuit by multiple pro-migration groups, and it is being portrayed as a warning to other cities and counties.

The $14 million payout will go to people – nearly all illegal migrants — who were detained by local cops to help deportations by Immigration and Customs Enforcement {ICE} between 2010 and 2014. The payouts will range from $250 to 425,000, with an average payment of roughly $700. Many of the migrants were successfully deported and may not learn about their promised windfall.

California's poverty rate is worse than Alabama & Mississippi, says Census Bureau. The major cause of this huge change is immigration policy which spikes housing costs & shrinks wages — and delivers huge gains for investors in real-estate & corp. shares. t.co/mEjCP83Hkr
