Not a Sky Event - two defunct satellites safely passed each other tonight (likely within 100 feet) at a relative velocity of 14.7 km/sec - no collision

There was a possibility that two defunct satellites would collide tonight about 1,000 km above Argentina/Antarctica. The odds were put around 10%, with an estimated miss of under 100 feet while moving at a relative velocity of 14.7 km/sec.

The objects safely passed each other without a collision. This is great news, as a crash would have produced large quantities of space debris.

No indication of collision. CZ-4C R/B passed over LeoLabs Kiwi Space Radar 10 minutes after TCA. Our data shows only a single object as we'd hoped, with no signs of debris. We will follow up in the coming days on Medium with a full in-depth risk assessment of this event!
