Priest Gets Federal Prison for Breaking into Navy Base

BRUNSWICK, Georgia – A 71-year-old Roman Catholic priest has been sentenced to federal prison for breaking into a Navy submarine base in Georgia with a group protesting nuclear weapons.

A U.S. District Court judge sentenced the Rev. Stephen Michael Kelly on Thursday to 33 months in prison. He's already served most of that sentence, as the judge gave Kelly credit for the roughly 30 months he spent behind bars awaiting trial and sentencing since his arrest in April 2018.

A year ago, Kelly and six fellow activists were convicted by a jury of trespassing, destruction of government property and other charges stemming from their arrest at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay.

The activists in 2018 took videos of themselves using wire cutters to enter a locked security gate at Kings Bay, the East Coast hub for Navy submarines armed with nuclear missiles. Inside the base, they spray-painted anti-nuclear messages and hammered on an outdoor display.

Defense attorneys had argued in pretrial hearings that the activists shouldn't be prosecuted because they acted on sincere religious beliefs. Judge Lisa Godbey Wood ruled they couldn't use that defense at trial.

Diddy Slams Donald Trump While Endorsing Joe Biden: White Men 'Need To Be Banished'

Diddy recently opened up about his thoughts on the upcoming presidential election and slammed President Donald Trump while officially endorsing Joe Biden.

Diddy joined Charlamagne Tha God to discuss the upcoming 2020 presidential election. During their conversation, the rapper said he believes Trump has divided the people with his racist comments.

"If Trump gets elected, I really do believe in my heart there will be a race war," Diddy said at the start of the video posted by Revolt TV.

"That's why this message is not just to Black people. I'm saying this message to everybody, this man is really trying to turn us against each other and puts us in a situation … America messed up."

Diddy went on saying there is no other choice but to get Trump out of office and put Biden in his position.

"When you look at it, we don't have no choice, you know what I'm saying? You can say what you want about Biden … I can't say I love to pick either, but hey, we got to get him in office and then we got to get him accountable," he added.

Diddy also shared a clip of their conversation on Twitter with the caption, "White men like Trump need to be banished." However, many people didn't like his message, and even questioned why he involved the issue of race.

"Saying people should be banished based on their race & gender is not very nice," one commented.

"really Diddy? they got u too? got some skeletons u are trading with? what a mess..i use to think u had brains, get Trump out of office? PLS WHY? ..&dont come here talking about race..cos u sat ur behind dr 4 years watching d killings in chicago & prisons swelling with ur brothers," another wrote.

"I thought diddy was one of the smart black guys in america but it's clearly obvious his too deep into that dark dirty money to stand for the truth," @JesseJe4444 commented.

Amy Coney Barrett ‘served as a handmaid’ for Christian faith group that expels members for ‘sinful’ gay sex

These people are trying too hard it's comical

The anti-LGBT+ past of Donald Trump’s controversial Supreme Court nominee is under scrutiny as the Republican-controlled Senate rushes her confirmation process, and several uncomfortable truths are now coming to light.

Among them is the fact that Barrett’s own Christian faith group, the Indiana-based People of Praise, insists on expelling any of its members who have gay sex.

In 2018 the group’s leader Craig Lent told the South Bend Tribune that anyone who engages in “ongoing, deliberate, unrepentant wrongdoing”, which includes consensual intercourse between someone of the same sex, faces immediate ex-communication.

The group also believes that sex should be reserved for married couples alone, and that only men and women should marry. “Homosexual attraction is not sinful, but acting on it is,” Lent confirmed.

These rules were reportedly tested when a lesbian member of People of Praise came out to the group after falling for a woman. An unnamed female member reportedly approached her and said other women in the organisation “were very uncomfortable that you were talking about that”.

“Either you never mention this again, or you leave,” the anonymous member told her.

The two-year-old comments came to light in a Guardian report on Wednesday (October 14), the third day of Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation hearing.

Barrett has never openly discussed her affiliation with People of Praise, but media reports have pointed out she appears to be a longstanding member based on several factors.
