New Florida Registration Data

Posted on October 16, 2020 by Richard Winger

On October 16, the Florida Secretary of State released new registration data, as of October 6. Here is a link.

All political parties except the Democratic Party increased their share of the registration, relative to the previous tally, which was as of July 20, 2020. The percentage of independent voters declined.

The new percentages: Democratic 36.72%; Republican 35.79%; Independent Party 1.13%; Libertarian .27%; Green .051%; Constitution .017%; Reform .0102%; Party for Socialism & Liberation .008%; Ecology .0063%; independent and miscellaneous 25.99%.

The percentages in July 2020 were: Democratic 37.20%; Republican 35.47%; Independent Party .91%; Libertarian .25%; Green .047%; Constitution .015%; Reform .0099%; Party for Socialism & Liberation .006%; Ecology .0056%; independent and miscellaneous 26.08%.

The Florida registration form lists a checkbox for the Democratic and Republican Parties, and for “no party affiliation”. Below that is a blank line if anyone wishes to register into any other party, qualified or not. The registration form does not list the qualified parties. It says if the applicant wishes to see a list of the qualified parties, to see the Secretary of State’s website, but anyone who does so will not find the list of qualified parties unless they know to choose the link “candidates and committees.”

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate began to look like the rest of the nation’s in September, taking another steep drop from its post-pandemic high as the labor force and payrolls grew, according to state figures released Friday.

In a survey of households, the labor force grew by an estimated 52,000 in September, closer to 6.4 million, still below the record high at close to 6.6 million in February. Unemployment fell by 141,000 while employment grew by 194,000.

Hardest hit has been the leisure and hospitality sector, which shed about 60% of its payroll as restaurants and bars were forced to shut down in-house service and shift food service to takeout or delivery.

Most sectors grew in September.

My 2 cents Don't let the flaps hit you in the ASS

He was "Born in the U.S.A.," but Bruce Springsteen says if President Trump wins another term in office, he'll be "on the next plane" to Australia.

The "Born to Run" singer predicted in a Thursday interview with Australia's Daily Telegraph that Trump wouldn't win his reelection bid come Nov. 3. But, the New Jersey native said, if Trump does win the White House again, he'll say sayonara to the U.S

Other stars have expressed a desire to flee the country if Trump defeats former Vice President Biden on Election Day. Last week, rocker Tommy Lee said of Trump's potential reelection: "Dude, I swear to God if that happens then I’m coming over to visit the U.K.."

In 2016, dozens of celebrities — including Miley Cyrus, Samuel L. Jackson and Lena Dunham, among others — pledged to flee the country if Trump won the presidential race.

Former Vice President Joe Biden appeared to lead President Donald Trump’s ratings during their dueling town hall events both televised at the same time on Thursday night, according to early figures.

While Mr Biden’s ABC News event reportedly received an audience of 12.7 million, the president drew 10.4 million viewers to his town hall on NBC News that was scheduled following the cancellation of this week’s second presidential debate.

The figures were subject to significant changes as new data was released from broadcast affiliate channels throughout the day.
