Symbolism of the Lion
In the national monument to the forefathers there is a man sitting above the word liberty. Liberty won from the British monarchy, the symbol of which was THE LION.
If you'll notice draped over his back there is the head and pelt of a dead lion, worn like a coat. Victory.
