I feel like I'm not necessarily an expert, but have enough experience working with those types of things.
It does look like a knot.
There's another knot to the left and down a bit which does have very similar features.
So, whatever wood was used to make the cabinetry stuffs appears to have knots enough to say that it's a knot.
But never-the-less, it does look like a "Q"
