> Did an impact or something cause this?

Wasn't an "impact".

We didn't always have a moon.

Once upon a time, the Earth did not rotate at all.

It used to be tidally locked, with the main landmass on the "far-side" of the planet.

Exactly like how only one side of the moon faces our planet.

During this configuration, there was no "Day & Night".

Sounds far fetched. But these conditions would've been exceptionally favorable for the development of life.

Especially, orbiting a red dwarf star, which are known for flaring up.

If all the water on Earth was situated on the "near side", facing the star, the water would reflect and absorb the radiation from the flares.

This would provide extremely favorable conditions for the "primordial soup" we always here about, but they never really explain correctly.

This would also trap heat in our atmosphere. Allowing for the far side of the planet to stay warm, at a rather stable temperature, without ever having direct exposure to sunlight.

Then. This one day. At Earth Camp…

I think you heard that one.

For the record. Another name for the moon is "Sin"
