After David had raped Bathsheba, and plotted and murdered her husband Uriah, when he was finally brought to repentance by Nathan's exposure, David's response to God was,

>against You and You alone have I sinned

which has always stymied anon. What about his victims, Bathsheba and Uriah?

He still reaped the sum of his actions in the physical but not via the justice system.

When people do the right thing are they to receive accolades for just doing what they should have been doing in the first place?

Does it afford mercy or absolve them?

Could Hunter have gotten out before he did? Should he receive leniency in his crimes against others?

Was he caught, then flipped only because he was caught, or did he flip because of his own conscience and make the first move?

Anon is asking muhself these questions. Ayeyiyi.
