Laundering Network: PDVSA Helped China to Steal Information from Multinationals

After awarding the tender to "shell" companies without experience or employees, the plagiarized projects are handed over to Chinese subcontractors

The Nicolás Maduro regime provided China with some ways to steal technology from large American and European multinationals. The victims of this plagiarism include Siemens AG, Superior Derrick Services LLC, and Solar Turbines Inc.

A report by OKDIARIO revealed that the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA helped the Asian country to take over data and technology from others through internal tenders to contract services. Chavista frontmen facilitated this modus operandi.

“PDVSA announces a tender for the purchase of machinery or technological equipment and invites a dozen large multinationals from the U.S. and Europe to participate. The candidates also include three shell companies, without employees or own manufacturing capacity, controlled by a businessman allied with the Chavista regime: on some occasions, Roberto Rincón,” the report states.

According to OKDIARIO, the scheme has been implemented since 2009 and “has served to rig dozens of public tenders for a total amount of more than 1.5 billion euros.”

PDVSA executives, acting as accomplices of the regime’s frontmen such as Álex Saab, Raúl Gorrín, or Roberto Rincón, stole everything from technical reports to execution programs from foreign companies that were bidding for contracts.

Russia among TOP 10 countries leading global digital banking revolution

A new survey by Deloitte has found that Russian banks are among the world leaders in terms of digitalization of their services, exceeding the global average in five out of the six key indicators.

The so-called global benchmarking study on digital banking maturity provided a comprehensive outside-in ’mystery shopper’ assessment of 318 retail banks in 39 countries.

According to the report, Russia is among the top ten countries leading the way in global digital banking, along with Japan, Singapore, Norway, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, Poland, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

The research showed that in terms of information availability to the client, the average value of the index in the world is 45 percent, while in Russia it is 51 percent.

Bags Full Of Stolen Ballots Found In Seattle Suburb

Another example of “safe and secure vote-by-mail” is playing out in Sammamish, Washington, a few miles east of Seattle.

Garbage bags full of stolen ballots have been discovered on opposite ends of the town.

KOMO news reports:

Sammamish Police are investigating potential mail theft after two garbage bags of mail, which included ballots, were found on the side of the road and several unopened ballots were found in incorrect mail boxes.

The City of Sammamish says USPS delivered about 90% of ballots to Sammamish residents on Thursday. Mail carriers were out delivering Amazon packages early Friday morning when they found two garbage bags of mail on the side of the road. There were several unopened ballots inside the bags of mail.

The City of Sammamish says Sammamish Police were also notified by the postmaster of reports of numerous ballots being stolen and placed in other mailboxes.

Cities of Portland, Oakland sue Homeland Security, Justice Departments, alleging unconstitutional federal overreach

The cities of Portland and Oakland have filed a suit against the federal Departments of Homeland Security and Justice, alleging both have engaged in unconstitutional overreach of federal law enforcement in response to social justice protests.

The suit cites the deployment of federal officers “either secretly or with little warning” to Portland, the continued authorizing of special deputy U.S. Marshal status to Portland police despite Portland’s objections, the deploying of federal law enforcement to non-federal property with “virtually limitless jurisdiction,” and the erecting of a fence around the Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse in a city right-of-way without a permit.

The cities allege the federal government under President Donald Trump has violated the so-called anti-commandering rule, which says that the federal government can’t require states or its officials to enforce federal law.

The 48-page suit alleges the federal practices mark a “monumental policy change” that harms the cities’ abilities to safely govern and police, and has only contributed to further civil unrest. Past local collaborations with federal law enforcement have been voluntary and consensual, the suit notes.

Report: COVID-19 used as pretext to crack down on internet freedom

Internet freedom has declined for the 10th consecutive year as governments around the world are using the coronavirus pandemic as a “cover” to expand online surveillance, crack down on dissent, and build new technological systems to control society, Freedom House says in a new report.

The Washington-based human rights watchdog’s annual Freedom Of The Net report, released on October 14, said the authorities in dozens of countries have cited COVID-19 “to justify expanded surveillance powers and the deployment of new technologies that were once seen as too intrusive.”

As a result, Internet freedom has worsened in 26 of the 65 countries covered by the report, while only 22 registered gains.

And just 20 percent of the estimated 3.8 billion people using the Internet live in countries with a free Internet, according to the democracy research group.

Why is Beto O’Rourke lining up a teaching position for the spring if Joe Biden is going to be president? Isn’t Beto supposed to head the gun confiscation task force or something?

Beto O’Rourke expected to teach at Texas State in spring 2021

Former U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke will teach Texas politics at Texas State in the spring 2021 semester, the Department of Political Science told The University Star on Oct. 15.

Pending finalization of his hire, O’Rourke will join the department as an instructor teaching a synchronous online class. Political Science Chair Ken Grasso says he discussed potential class subjects with O’Rourke, who he says gravitated toward Texas politics.

“He originally approached people in the administration… and expressed an interest in teaching,” Grasso said. “I was thrilled. He’s got a unique take on things with his experience as a congressman and as [a] senatorial candidate and even a presidential candidate. So we’re very happy to have him.”

Grasso says O’Rourke expressed a desire to connect with young adults as his motivation to teach, especially during such a “crucial time for the state and the country.”

He added that O’Rourke’s arrival will be an exciting development for Texas State’s political science faculty and staff.

Massie and Gabbard Introduce Bipartisan Resolution Demanding Julian Assange’s Immediate Exoneration

Reps. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) introduced H.Res.1175 last week, which calls for the U.S. deep state to give up its hostile prosecution of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

The resolution intends to defend press freedom against the national security state. The prosecution of Assange could criminalize journalism as we know it if he is successfully railroaded by the feds.

“Freedom of the press is a vital function of a free democracy in which the government is accountable to the people. Julian Assange published information that exposed lies and abuses of power at the highest levels of our government. Departments of Justice and Homeland Security Release Data on Incarcerated Aliens

94 Percent of All Confirmed Aliens in Department of Justice Custody Are Unlawfully Present

Today, the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security released the Alien Incarceration Report for Fiscal Year 2019. The data shows that 94 percent of confirmed aliens incarcerated in Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and United States Marshals Service (USMS) facilities were unlawfully present in the United States. Additionally, the report found that nearly 70 percent of known or suspected aliens in BOP custody had been convicted of a non-immigration-related offense, and 39 percent of known or suspected aliens in USMS custody had committed a non-immigration-related offense.

In January 2017, President Trump issued an Executive Order on Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States, directing “the Secretary [of Homeland Security] and the Attorney General … to collect relevant data and provide quarterly reports on the following: (a) the immigration status of all aliens incarcerated under the supervision of the Federal Bureau of Prisons; (b) the immigration status of all aliens incarcerated as Federal pretrial detainees under the supervision of the United States Marshals Service; and (c) the immigration status of all convicted aliens incarcerated in State prisons and local detention centers throughout the United States.”

At the end of FY 2019, a total of 51,074 known or suspected aliens were in Department of Justice custody, with 27,494 known or suspected aliens in BOP facilities and 23,580 known or suspected aliens in USMS facilities. Of those 51,074 known or suspected aliens, 27,266 individuals (53.4 percent) had been confirmed by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to be aliens who had orders of removal or who had agreed to depart voluntarily. 18,308 individuals (35.8 percent) were still under investigation by ICE to determine alienage, 3,691 individuals (7.2 percent) were illegal aliens who were under adjudication, and 936 individuals (1.8 percent) were legal aliens who were under adjudication. 873 individuals (1.7 percent) were aliens who had been granted relief or protection from removal.

Democrat Employees Outnumber Republicans by Nearly 13 to 1 at University of Pennsylvania

A Campus Reform analysis found that Democratic employees at the University of Pennsylvania outnumber Republicans by a ratio of nearly 13:1.

The analysis found that of registered voters with stated political party affiliations and who are employees at the University of Pennsylvania, 181 are Democrats, while just 14 are Republicans. The analysis also found that four employees are registered as independents, 83 undeclared, and 2,139 did not list a party affiliation on their voter registration.

Campus Reform obtained the data through an open records request.

The University of Pennsylvania is the only Ivy League institution in Pennsylvania, one of the key swing states that could decide the 2020 presidential election. President Donald Trump flipped the Keystone State in 2016 and, according to multiple polls, the president currently trails his Democratic opponent, former Vice President Joe Biden.

It is worth noting, however, that these polls failed to predict the outcome of the 2016 presidential election.
