Picked up an issue of National Geographic because it is all about Secrets of the Supernatural. Interesting but they mostly just skim the surface with tidbits of history. However, one part caught my eye. The Hammer of Witches.
"As the most used witch-hunters manual, Malleus maleficarum, The Hammer of Witches, became the go to text for both Catholics and Protestants. Published in 1847, by two German Dominicans, Johann Sprenger and Heinrich Kramer, it reveals the ways of witches and explains how to expose them, such as stripping them naked in public to search for the mark of the devil. Witch hunters also tossed the accused in water. If they floated they were deemed guilty.
