CNN Legal Analyst Jeffrey Toobin Suspended by The New Yorker For Exposing His Penis During Zoom Call

CNN legal analyst and writer Jeffrey Toobin was suspended by The New Yorker for exposing his penis during a Zoom call with his fellow magazine colleagues.

Toobin told Vice in a statement: “I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera. I apologize to my wife, family, friends and co-workers.”

A spokeswoman for The New Yorker said, “Jeffrey Toobin has been suspended while we investigate the matter.”

The New Yorker has suspended reporter Jeffrey Toobin. Sources tell VICE it’s because he exposed himself during a Zoom call last week between members of the New Yorker and WNYC radio.

“I believed I was not visible on Zoom. I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video,” he added.

Toobin’s Conde Nast email has been disabled and he has not tweeted since October 13. He did, however, appear on CNN, where he is the network’s chief legal analyst, on Saturday. “Jeff Toobin has asked for some time off while he deals with a personal issue, which we have granted,” CNN said in a statement.

Toobin may have been suspended by The New Yorker, but he appeared on CNN on Saturday.

The temptations of CBDCs are not limited to excesses in monetary policy. I hope the leaders of the world’s central banks will approach this new financial technology with extreme caution, guarding against its overuse or outright abuse. It’s hard to be optimistic. Soon our monetary Pandoras will possess their own box full of new powers, perhaps too enticing to resist.

We bring all this up because earlier today, hot on the heels of recent announcements by both the ECB and BOJ which recently discussed their ongoing preparations to launch digital currencies, Fed Chair Jerome Powell spoke at a panel focusing on Cross-Border payments hosted by the IMF during its annual meeting, in which he said that the central bank hasn’t made a decision to issue a digital currency, citing the need for further work and "extensive" public consultation with stakeholders before doing so.

US Blacklists Chinese, Australian Citizens and Organizations Over Iran

On Sunday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Washington would sanction "any individual or entity that materially contributes to the supply, sale, or transfer of conventional arms to or from Iran" after a decade-long UN arms embargo on Iran expired.

The US has imposed Iran-related sanctions on five Hong-Kong shipping companies, one Australian entity and one Chinese investment group, the US Department of the Treasury said.

Delight Shipping Co Ltd, Gracious Shipping Co Ltd, Noble Shipping Co Ltd, Reach Holding Group, Reach Shipping Lines, Supreme Shipping Co Ltd were added to Specially Designated Nationals list, according to the statement.

The Treasury also slapped three individuals with sanctions for dealings with Iran.

On 18 October, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the US was ready "to use its domestic authorities to sanction any individual or entity that materially contributes to the supply, sale, or transfer of conventional arms to or from Iran." He added that if a country supports the fight against terrorism it "should refrain from any arms transactions with Iran."

Pompeo's statement came after a decade-long UN arms embargo on Iran expired, allowing Tehran to buy foreign weapons.

Food Shortages Hit China: There Is “not … enough fresh food to go around”

Over the past few weeks, I have been writing articles regarding a coming food shortage. I’ve been pointing out that the food shortage is going to hit the United States hard but that it is also going to hit the rest of the world.

A worldwide fit of hysteria over COVID, resulting in the shutdown of the world’s economy, interruption of the supply chain, and the destruction of food products, as well as international trade wars and natural disasters, are going to collide with one another and make this winter one of the toughest on record.

China is publicly acknowledging a coming food shortage.

But while many have dismissed my claims, I’d like to draw your attention to the fact that China is now publicly acknowledging a coming food shortage. (And as noted in this article, when they admit there’s a problem, it’s a BIG problem.) In fact, China even has an anti-food-wasting campaign going on across the country right this minute encouraging people to eat half portions or at least make sure to finish their plates.

In an October 5 article for the New York Times entitled “China’s mealtime appeal amid food supply worries: Don’t take more than you can eat,” Eva Dou writes,

On the surface, China’s campaign to encourage mealtime thrift has been a cheerful affair, with soldiers, factory workers and schoolchildren shown polishing their plates clean of food.

But behind the drive is a harsh reality. China does not have enough fresh food to go around — and neither does much of the world.

The pandemic and extreme weather have disrupted agricultural supply chains, leaving food prices sharply higher in countries as diverse as Yemen, Sudan, Mexico and South Korea. The United Nations warned in June that the world is on the brink of its worst food crisis in 50 years.

“It’s scary and it’s overwhelming,” Arif Husain, chief economist of the United Nations World Food Program, said in an interview. “I don’t think we have seen anything like this ever.”

Those are strong words, to say the least.

Right now, the food products in China that are facing the toughest situation are corn and pork. China’s pork industry was hit hard by African Swine Fever (at least we are told) and flooding ruined a large portion of China’s corn crops. But it’s not just those two products that are at risk. Fresh food of every kind is in short supply for the same reasons as the United States, i.e. insane shutdown policies.

NYSE Prepares To Move Operations Out Of New Jersey If Trading Tax Passes

The saga over New Jersey's trading tax continues, and in the latest installment the Mahwah-based New Jersey New York Stock Exchange told New Jersey lawmakers that it is prepared to move operations out of state should they impose a new tax on electronic trades via data servers, according to Bloomberg.

To prove that the NYSE is serious, in late September, Hope Jarkowski, co-head of government affairs for NYSE parent Intercontinental Exchange Inc., said that the world’s largest exchange by market capitalization conducted a test "for a wholesale transition out of New Jersey" noting that "from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2, we moved our production servers for our NYSE Chicago exchange out of New Jersey to our secondary data center."

The kicker: "Proximity to New York City is no longer relevant in today’s trading environment."

The latest threat to bail on the Garden State comes after state lawmakers announced they plan to charge a tax of a hundredth-cent per trade, down from an earlier proposal of a quarter-cent levy. The fee, which is set to begin Jan. 1 and last two years if passed, would be paid by "high-quantity processors of financial securities," or firms that collect and store data. Such operations exist in Mahwah, Secaucus, Carteret and elsewhere in New Jersey, where the NYSE, Nasdaq and CME all conduct operations, and whose proximity to Wall Street makes it conducive to fast electronic trades. But, as Bloomberg notes, "evolving technology is threatening the need for short, straight data lines, potentially allowing exchanges to operate well beyond their suburban tether."

While New Jersey has estimated that a trade tax would bring in $500 million in each of the two years on transactions involving stocks, futures, options, credit-default swaps, derivatives and other trades, market representatives disagree, and instead claim that such taxes enacted in France, Sweden and Italy have fallen far short of goals.

The strategy "will backfire," said Terry Campbell, vice president of global relations for Nasdaq Inc. "You will not get the revenue you predict."

Instead, according to those who have for years benefited from the legal frontrunning that is HFT, claim that individual investors and middle-class retirees would shoulder the burden, via higher transaction fees and costs passed on by pension funds and other investment managers. A coalition of exchanges and trading firms have been fighting the tax, with Monday’s hearing giving them another chance to warn lawmakers that the levy will hurt the state more than help.

People Need to Reclaim the Internet

No matter how much you dislike Trump, only a fool can fail to see the implications for public access to information of the massive suppression on the internet of the Hunter Biden leaks.

This blog has been suffering a ratcheting of social media suppression for years, which reached its apogee in my coverage of the Julian Assange trial. As I reported on 24 September:

Even my blog has never been so systematically subject to shadowbanning from Twitter and Facebook as now. Normally about 50% of my blog readers arrive from Twitter and 40% from Facebook. During the trial it has been 3% from Twitter and 9% from Facebook. That is a fall from 90% to 12%. In the February hearings Facebook and Twitter were between them sending me over 200,000 readers a day. Now they are between them sending me 3,000 readers a day. To be plain that is very much less than my normal daily traffic from them just in ordinary times. It is the insidious nature of this censorship that is especially sinister – people believe they have successfully shared my articles on Twitter and Facebook, while those corporations hide from them that in fact it went into nobody’s timeline. My own family have not been getting their notifications of my posts on either platform.

It was not just me: everyone reporting the Assange trial on social media suffered the same effect. Wikileaks, which has 5.6 million Twitter followers, were obtaining about the same number of Twitter “impressions” of their tweets (ie number who saw them) as I was. I spoke with several of the major US independent news sites and they all reported the same.

I have written before about the great danger to internet freedom from the fact that a few massively dominant social media corporations – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram – have become in effect the “gatekeepers” to internet traffic. In the Assange hearing and Hunter Biden cases we see perhaps the first overt use of that coordinated power to control public information worldwide.

The way the power of the “gatekeepers” is used normally is insidious. It is quite deliberately disguised. “Shadow banning” is a term for a technique which has many variations. The net result is always that the post is not ostensibly banned. Some people see it, so that if the subject of the suppression claims to be banned they look stupid. But it is in fact shown to far, far less people than it would normally be. So even members of my own immediate family find that my posts no longer turn up in their timeline on either Facebook or Twitter. But a few followers, presumably at random, do see them. Generally, though not always, those followers are apparently able to retweet or share, but what they are not told is that their retweet or share is in fact put in to very, very few people’s timelines. The overall audience for the Tweet or Facebook post is cut to as little as 1% of what it might be without suppression. As 90% of the traffic to this blog comes in clicks from these social media posts, the effect is massive.

Gov. Cuomo unveils NY COVID-19 vaccine distribution plan

NEW YORK – Governor Andrew Cuomo says that while there are many unknowns, the state has begun drafting plans to distribute coronavirus vaccines to New Yorkers.

NSW man faces 70 charges over alleged sexual and physical abuse of woman and six children

A man is facing 70 charges over alleged horrific abuse of a woman and six children over three years, including torture and grooming a child for sex.

A NSW man is facing 70 charges of alleged sexual and physical abuse of a woman and six children on the state’s mid north coast.

Detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad launched an investigation in June following reports a 45-year-old woman and six children had been abused by the man known to them over the three-year period between 2015 and 2018.

Police arrested a 61-year-old man at a home near Taree last month before he was taken to the local police station and charged with 70 offences.

These include, grooming a child under 14 years old for sex, stalking, intimidating, assault, aggravated sex assault, sexual intercourse without consent, torture, beating or seriously injuring an animal, driving furiously in a motor vehicle to cause bodily harm and failing to provide necessities for an endangered life.

Officers also searched a property at Taree last month where they seized electronic devices while police divers recovered firearms from the dam on the property.

The man was refused bail at Taree Local Court in September and will appear again on Tuesday.

Fox News Reportedly Passed On Publishing Hunter Biden Laptop Story, Citing Credibility Issues

Fox News reportedly passed on publishing the Hunter Biden laptop story after being approached by Rudy Giuliani due to credibility concerns, according to Mediaite.

The New York Post ultimately published the first in a series of articles allegedly regarding Biden’s laptop on Wednesday. The laptop is said to have been dropped off and abandoned at a computer repair shop in Delaware. It allegedly contains files ranging from “sexually explicit” videos and photographs to emails about Biden’s work with Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company, the Post reported.

The Daily Caller has not independently confirmed the contents of the laptop.

Guiliani first allegedly approached Fox News regarding the laptop after he was given a copy from the shop owner, Mediaite reported Monday. The network would reportedly not run with the story unless the legitimacy of the emails and sourcing could be examined, Mediaite added.

“But according to two sources familiar with the matter, the lack of authentication of Hunter Biden’s alleged laptop, combined with established concerns about Giuliani as a reliable source and his desire for unvetted publication, led the network’s news division to pass,” Mediaite wrote.

Fox News’ Bret Baier and Chris Wallace have both publicly questioned the laptop reports, with Baier saying Tuesday that “the whole thing is sketchy.” The anchor added that they “are digging into where this computer is and the emails and the authenticity of it.”

“I can understand the concern about this story,” Wallace said Friday of the report, adding that it is “sketchy.” “It is completely unverified and frankly, Rudy Giuliani is not the most reliable source anymore. I hate to say that, but it’s just true.”

Fox News did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller.

BRASILIA, Brazil—Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Brazil assists Brazil Federal Police in the capture of a dual Egyptian-Lebanese national for the smuggling of nine Yemenis nationals. The Brazil Federal Police received an anonymous tip on the whereabouts of Hussein Mohamed Sobbih Fatouh and a group of nine Yemeni nationals in the city of Assis Brazil, Acre, on Oct. 11, 2020. ICE HSI verified the identities and previous travel routes of the Yemenis nationals whom, except for one, were previously encountered and enrolled in the ICE Biometric Identification Transnational Migration Alert Program (BITMAP) in Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

“The arrest of Sobbih Fatouh is a major victory,” said ICE Attaché for Brazil and Bolivia Robert Fuentes. “Not only was the human smuggler apprehended, but we were able to identify nine special interest aliens who are a potential threat to our national security. We are grateful to our Brazilian partners for their strong partnership in combating transnational criminal organizations. ICE HSI is committed to disrupting human smuggling networks who undermine our immigration system and put countless individuals at risk while doing so.”

However, emails published this week by Peter Schweizer, a senior contributor at Breitbart News and president of the Government Accountability Institute, indicated just how important of a role Hunter Biden and his business associates, including Devon Archer, played in making the White House visit happen.

The emails showed that on November 5, 2011, a colleague of Archer’s reached out to suggest there was an opportunity to gain “outstanding new clients.” According to the email, copies of which were published exclusively by Breitbart News, the colleague told Archer that the CEC had been trying for some time to arrange meetings with high-ranking Obama administration officials when they visited Washington, DC, in mid-November.

“A tour of the White House and a meeting with a member of the chief of staff’s office and [then-Secretary of State] John Kerry would be great,” the colleague wrote.

Up to that point, the CEC had tried and failed to obtain access to the Obama administration.

“From the DC side as you will see below they [CEC] have written letters to several members of the administration and others and have so far not had a strong reaction,” the colleague wrote Archer.

Archer discussed the CEC’s request with two other associates, Gary Fears and Bevan Cooney. Fears, in particular, told Archer to follow-up on the request since the CEC delegation could be “perfect” for a fertilizer mining venture the trio was then pursuing.

Although it is unclear exactly what transpired after the emails reached Archer, only nine days later, on November 14, 2011, the CEC had secured its meeting at the Obama White House. Administration records indicate that a delegation of 30 CEC members received a tour of the White House and met with then-Commerce Secretary John Bryson.

The delegation also, according to its members, met privately with Hunter Biden’s father, then-Vice President Joe Biden. At the time, the vice president was playing a leading role in the Obama administration’s policy towards Beijing. Just that past May, Biden had taken part in talks between the U.S. and China on how to improve “strategic and economic” relations.

Exactly how Archer and his associates arranged the meeting for the CEC is unknown. Visitor logs, though, show that Zients, who was in charge of restructuring the administration’s trade agencies, was the official host for the CEC delegation. It is likely that any arrangement made by Hunter Biden or associates ran through him or the OMB.

After the meeting, Zients would go on to be promoted to acting director of OMB after his superior Jack Lew ascended to the position of White House Chief of Staff. In March 2014, Zients was appointed to lead the National Economic Council, a position he held until Obama left office in 2017.

Since leaving office, Zients appears to have kept in close contact with the Bidens. In September, Biden appointed him to co-chair the presidential transition task force, which will be responsible for staffing a potential Biden White House.

The former vice president’s campaign did not respond to requests for this story.

Cop Fired After Hackers Exposed Him as a ‘Neo-Nazi’ in a Group Tied to Over 100 Terror Attacks

Lafayette, IN — Thanks to anonymous hackers on the internet, a self-professed neo-Nazi, who was just hired as a cop in Indiana, is out of a job. Internet sleuths outed the now former officer Joseph Zacharek as being a “fully” vetted Nazi and “NatSoc” (short for National Socialist) engaging in a history of fascist and white supremacist plots.

To be clear here, this is not some internet hacker throwing around the term “nazi” to label people they disagree with politically. Zacharek literally described himself as neo-Nazi and participated in groups tied to violent terrorist attacks across the globe, carried out in the name of white supremacy and following in Adolf Hitler’s footsteps. The forum in which Zacharek was outed was known as the Iron March.

The Iron March was a self-described fascist web forum which — prior to being taken offline in 2017 — was linked nearly 100 hate crime murders and terrorist attacks. It was a forum in which people would gather to share their views on white supremacy and fascism and was home to literal neo-Nazis from all across the globe. It was essentially a recruiting ground for white extremist violence, which materialized into significant terrorist attacks and assassinations in multiple countries.

In 2019, the entire SQL database behind Ironmarch.org was posted on Internet Archives after anonymous hackers found it. The data, released by an unknown individual, includes private messages, user account information and the site’s forum posts. Guess whose name and email address were part of that data? None other than Officer Joseph Zacharek, hired by the Lafayette police department in June of this year.

Not only was Zacharek a card carrying member of the neo-Nazi web forum, but he was also active in discussions in which he expressed his views on why he thought the white race is superior to all other races. Below is his profile description from when he joined the site in 2016.

I would now say that I am fully NatSoc, and I’m especially interested in NatSoc economics as a way of throwing off the chains of usury and Jewish owned banking. Basically, I joined because I want to engage in higher level fascist discourse than goes on in /pol/, and I want to be part of a community of likeminded people with the same or similar worldview.
