Tucker Carlson: The American Media Will Never Be The Same After The Hunter Biden Hard Drive Story

Posted By Ian Schwartz

On Date October 19, 2020

Tucker Carlson delivered a monologue on the Hunter Biden hard drive story and how the media is complicit in the coverup on the Friday edition of his FOX News show.

TUCKER CARLSON, FOX NEWS: If you flipped the channel during our show Thursday night, you may have seen the president and his challenger making their respective cases to voters. But President Trump and Joe Biden weren't debating each other. That would have been too risky. There's a massive public health crisis underway, you may have heard.

So to avoid what doomsday hobbyists on Twitter like to call a "superspreader event," Trump and Biden held separate indoor town halls surrounded by people. They talked to partisan moderators instead of each other. That might seem like a loss to the country three weeks before a presidential election. But unfortunately, the science on this question is clear: Nothing could be more dangerous to America than a televised in-person debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

So the so-called debate commission made certain a debate couldn't happen. Who benefitted from that decision? Well, not voters. America has held regularly scheduled presidential debates for decades and we have them for a reason. The more information voters can get directly from the candidates rather than the media, the better our democracy functions, not that anyone's interested in democracy anymore.

Joe Biden doesn't care either way. He just didn't want to talk about Burisma. That's the scandal that vividly illustrates how, as vice president, Biden subverted this country's foreign policy in order to enrich his own family. The good news for Biden Thursday night was that he didn't have to talk about it. No one from ABC News asked him about that scandal for the entire 90 minutes.

As we've been telling you this week, the New York Post and a few other news outlets, including "Tucker Carlson Tonight," have published e-mails taken from Hunter Biden's personal laptop. They show that Hunter Biden was paid by foreign actors to change American foreign policy using access to his father, then the vice president. This is a big story. It is also a real story.

Friday afternoon, we received nonpublic information that proves conclusively this was indeed Hunter Biden's laptop. There are materials on the hard drive of that computer that no one but Hunter Biden could have known about or have replicated. This is not a Russian hoax. Again, we're saying this definitively. We're not speculating. The laptop in question is real. It belonged to Hunter Biden. So there is no excuse for not asking about it.

But they didn't ask about it. It was a cover-up in real time. No matter what happens in the election next month, the American media will never be the same after this. It cannot continue this way. It is too dishonest.

Nevertheless, we did learn a few things Thursday night. (It's hard not to learn when you watch Joe Biden try to speak for 90 minutes.) At one point, an activist told Joe Biden that she has an eight-year-old transgender daughter. She asked Joe Biden what he thought about that. Here's how he responded:

FLASHBACK: 2008 Obama campaign denied Biden vote influenced by payments to Hunter Biden

Then-Sen. Joe Biden was supporting a bankruptcy bill while his son worked for a company that pushed for it

Back in 2008, when then-candidate Barack Obama was running for the presidency, his campaign defended chosen running mate Joe Biden for backing a bill in the Senate despite his son Hunter working for a bank that supported the legislation.

Obama's campaign aides acknowledged to The New York Times that Hunter Biden's consulting work for MBNA – which earned him a $100,000 yearly retainer – was a subject they looked into when vetting the elder Biden as a running mate.

The bill made it more difficult for individual consumers to declare bankruptcy, which benefitted the credit card industry that included banks like MBNA. The bank was not only paying Hunter Biden from 2001 to 2005 – the year the bill finally passed in the Senate – but bank employees had donated to lawmakers from both parties. This included then-Sen. Biden, who by 2008 had received more than $214,000 in campaign contributions from MBNA employees, according to the Times.

MBNA, which was later bought by Bank of America, was also the largest employer in Biden's home state of Delaware at the time.

Obama aides defended Biden, telling the Times that he was not influenced by either the campaign donations or his son's work. Obama campaign spokesman David Wade said at the time that Biden worked hard for a bipartisan bill and sought changes to it that upset MBNA.

"He took plenty of knocks from the largest employer in his state because he demanded changes in the bankruptcy bill," Wade told the Times. "But legislating requires compromise. Senators cast tough votes. Congress worked on the bankruptcy bill for nearly a decade, over five Congresses, to forge a bipartisan compromise."

Connecticut paper runs editorial claiming every last Trump voter supports racism

'You can't support Trump without supporting the racism that forms the bedrock of his political persona'

The editorial board at the Hartford Courant officially endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden for president on Sunday — and in doing so called every last supporter of President Donald Trump a racist.

They said what?

"You probably think you can vote for Donald Trump but not support racism; here's why you're wrong," the story's headline stated, making no mistake about the argument to be offered below.

Then, after briefly stating that there are "many reasons" not to endorse Trump, the editors dove into the "one issue that demands a closer look as we approach Election Day … racism":

President Trump's views on race and his willingness to exploit deep-rooted divisions are well documented. He jump-started his 2016 campaign by equating Mexicans with rapists and drug dealers. When racist violence erupted at a Charlottesville, Va., white-supremacist rally, Trump said there were "very fine people on both sides." And most recently, when asked during a debate with Biden to denounce white nationalism, Trump said it was time for the militaristic hate group the Proud Boys to step back — but also to "stand by."

That alone should frighten you, but right about now is when some of you are probably saying that you don't subscribe to the kind of racist invective Trump uses to fire up his base. You believe in the free market and low taxes, or you're against abortion, or you just don't trust the Democrats.

But on race? You believe that all men and women are created equal. I see the person, you say, not the color of their skin.

Side note: The oft-repeated invocation that Trump referred to neo-Nazis and white nationalists at the 2017 riots in Charlottesville, Virginia, as "very fine people" is a flat-out lie.

The full context of the remarks, as reported by Politifact, show that Trump clarified during his remarks, saying, "You had people — and I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists because they should be condemned totally — but you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists."

As for Trump's "Proud Boys" remarks, he would later clarify that, too, saying that the "alt-right" group should "stand down and let law enforcement do its work."

Furthermore, despite the left-wing media's insistence that he hasn't, Trump has repeatedly condemned white supremacism.

It gets worse

Alas, moving on from their misleading portrait of Trump as a bonafide racist, the Hartford Courant editors insisted that all those who support him are racists, too.

"Politics is always about compromise," they acknowledged. "But Trump's racism isn't the same, not even close."

"The difference now, in 2020, is that Donald Trump doesn't just exploit racism, he revels in it," they claimed. "Trump wears his whiteness like a badge of honor and plays his affinity for groups like the Proud Boys and other agents of racial hatred for applause. Trump doesn't simply mine the racial divide for political advantage, he treats it like a worldview to be celebrated and adored."

As such, whoever votes for Trump is not an innocent party but a guilty participant in the proliferation of racist practices.

"You can't support Trump without supporting the racism that forms the bedrock of his political persona," the editorial stated. "You may not think of yourself as promoting racism if you vote for Trump, but you are giving comfort and aid to the hateful among us."

Bet you didn't know that, Trump supporters. You'll likely change your vote now.

Bill Gates: 'Shutting down' economy 'nowhere near sufficient' to stop climate change

The Microsoft founder also described climate change as "even scarier" than the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, said the coronavirus pandemic demonstrates that "simply shutting down" the U.S. economy won't bring about net zero carbon emissions to fight climate change.

Gates said the emissions reductions from the pandemic were "quite modest," despite the drastic drop in air travel and car travel.

"Simply shutting down is not going to get to our goal, so just as we need breakthrough innovation for COVID-19, we also need that to get rid of emissions from all the different sectors and bring down climate change," Gates said during the annual meeting for the National Academy of Medicine. "This crosses many areas — how we make electricity, how we make industrial products, grow food, cool our buildings and all of transportation."

Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, said the pandemic has taught humans a lot about climate change, emphasizing that decreased air and auto travel hasn't made a huge impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero.

"The change in behavior, like driving less or flying less is helpful but nowhere near sufficient — 2020 is a great example of this," he said. "We've cut down carbon emissions … but the reduction in emissions is actually quite modest. When COVID-19 hit, air travel effectively stopped. Car travel last April was half what it was the year before, and even so the international energy agency estimates that the global emissions only dropped about 8% this year."

Characterizing climate change as "even scarier" than the COVID-19 pandemic, Gates predicted that climate change could result in 3 times more deaths than coronavirus.

"As bad as COVID-19 has been, the damage of climate change will be even worse, and there won't be just an intervention like a vaccine to bring it to an end," he said. "Just changing our behavior will only take us a limited distance. We have to have advances in science and innovation to solve the problem."

Gates said the kind of innovation and cooperation that brought the world together after World War II would help fight climate change.

"COVID has been incredibly devastating," he said. "We can't even measure all the negative effects. Climate is the same. It's even scarier."

Joint Chiefs members cleared to return to work at Pentagon after self-quarantine

WASHINGTON — The nation’s top military leaders have been cleared to return to work at the Pentagon after having self-quarantined as a precaution following the positive COVID-19 test of a senior Coast Guard official in early October.

The go-ahead to resume work from the Pentagon was given last week, in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines and after members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff had multiple negative tests for the virus, officials said Monday.

Some members of the Joint Chiefs happen to be away this week on personal business unrelated to the virus.

The chiefs began working remotely two weeks ago after learning that Adm. Charles W. Ray, the vice commandant of the Coast Guard, had tested positive. Ray had attended a meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff days earlier.

Top military leaders have robust communication systems installed in their homes as a routine matter, and many have sporadically worked from home during the pandemic for a variety of reasons. Some stayed home after having been previously exposed to the virus, and other military leaders have self-quarantined for a short time after returning from travel.

Mike Pompeo Calls Twitter's 'Non-Viewpoint-Neutral' Worldview 'Dangerous'

Allegations regarding corrupt business dealings surrounding Joe Biden's son, Hunter, in Ukraine, have circulated on social media in recent weeks. Due to the unconfirmed nature of the story, social media giants have restricted its availability.

Mike Pompeo in a Monday interview with the Washington Examiner, suggested that Twitter's "non-viewpoint-neutral" position on global events was "dangerous".

The interview with the US secretary of state, the central point of which was the signing of a peace treaty between Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Israel, pivoted to a story of corruption allegations involving Hunter Biden that were published by the New York Post and blocked by Twitter.

“This is dangerous. It is dangerous when a powerful force like the communications tool which is Twitter adopts a non-viewpoint-neutral view of the world", Pompeo said.

The Trump-appointed foreign policy chief then praised social media companies for removing posts by terrorists, in cooperation with the US government, and stated that the tech companies cannot “allow disinformation.”

“They have to make a choice. Either it's going to be viewpoint neutral, they can let a thousand flowers bloom, or they're going to make a different decision,” said Pompeo. “And that decision can't be based on whether it is supportive of this administration or attempting to undermine America. That's just inappropriate".

The allegations of controversy, surrounding the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, emerged from a story in the New York Post concerning Hunter Biden emails that were claimed to have been acquired from his laptop while it was in a repair shop in the US state of Delaware.

The emails allege that Biden discussed business dealings in Ukraine with his father. While Twitter later reversed its decision to restrict the story, social media giant Facebook maintained the decision to prevent the availability of the article as the claims have not been confirmed by the FBI or any other authority.

This is not the first time that Twitter has been criticised for clamping down on "misleading" material surrounding the 2020 US presidential election campaign.

Morgan Stanley: 10% Correction Coming After Failure To Breach 30 Year Resistance

Back on September 2, when stocks hit an all time high, we asked if it "could be this simple" when showing the long-term resistance of the S&P:

Well, at least so far, the answer appears to be yes and is also the reason why in his weekly focus note, Morgan Stanley's chief equity strategist Michael Wilson writes that last week's failure to break through technical resistance for second time "suggests the correction isn't over."

To that point, last month and shortly after our initial observation, Wilson laid out his view that long-term resistance in the S&P500 around the 3550 level would be very difficult to surpass prior to the outcome of the US election and passage of CARES 2. As he explains "this view was based on very strong long-term technical resistance going back to the late 1980s."
