TikTok Makes It Clear: QAnon Is Prohibited On The Platform

BY MATT BINDER

2 HOURS, 10 MINUTES

QAnon is running out of major online platforms where it can spread its conspiracies.

In a statement to NPR, the viral video app TikTok has confirmed that it bans accounts spreading QAnon disinformation.

QAnon is a far right conspiracy theory based on the unfounded belief that President Donald Trump is secretly battling a satanic global child-trafficking ring run by the Democrats and liberal Hollywood elites.

"Content and accounts that promote QAnon violate our disinformation policy and we remove them from our platform," a TikTok spokesperson said in a statement to Mashable. "We've also taken significant steps to make this content harder to find across search and hashtags by redirecting associated terms to our Community Guidelines."

TikTok had already updated its policies over the past few months in order to limit the spread of disinformation on the platform. The company began to impose stricter policies on what was allowed, specifically when it came to election and coronavirus-related misinformation. Those rule changes came about as the company struggled with its own battle in the United States, as the Trump administration sought to ban the app over its connections to its Chinese parent company, ByteDance.

As TikTok mentioned in its statement, the account ban policy isn't the first action the company has taken against QAnon. The company previously cracked down on the conspiracy theory by blocking hashtag trends and searches mentioning QAnon or related conspiracies, such as Pizzagate.

By blocking these hashtags, TikTok severely limited the ability to find QAnon content. However, there were workarounds, such as alternative spellings or new hashtags associated with the conspiracy.

"We continually update our safeguards with misspellings and new phrases as we work to keep TikTok a safe and authentic place for our community," TikTok's spokesperson told me.

Earlier this month, Facebook prohibited Pages and Groups that promote QAnon. YouTube also followed suit in banning certain types of “harmful” QAnon and other conspiratorial content.

Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat Goes Full QAnon on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

VERY NICE!

The Kazakh icon’s late-night appearance went swiftly off the rails quickly when his daughter demanded Jimmy Kimmel’s pants.

The last time American late-night viewers caught a glimpse of Borat Sagdiyev it was Election Day 2018 and the Kazakh icon was attempting to swing the midterms for Premier Trump on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Now, with the highly anticipated sequel to his groundbreaking 2006 film set to hit Amazon Prime Video this Friday, he has returned for a socially distant interview with his preferred late-night host.

“I have very great news,” Borat told Kimmel after taking the stage Monday night. “Kazakhstan intelligence services have make discovery this morning that there’s a virus. It come from a place called Wuhan, which is in Israel.” From there, he pulled a large cooking pan out of his sack and started smashing “coward” coronaviruses all over the host’s set.

“I do not feel comfortable starting this interview until I have done basic questionnaire,” he added. It included questions like, “In the last week, have you been in the presence for more than 15 minutes of any Jews?” and “As member of Hollywood elite, have you recently drunk any unpasteurized children’s blood?” When Kimmel answered no to the latter, he followed up with, “Really? Not in any pizza parlors recently?”

After trying to stick a thermometer up Kimmel’s “rear hole,” Borat asked Kimmel to “make liquid release” in a cup. Presenting previous samples from Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Fallon, he said, “I didn’t do an interview with him, he just gave it to me.”

Australia to join India, US, Japan in large naval exercises

By Brad Lendon, CNN

Published Oct 20, 2020 1:47:43 PM

(CNN) — Australia will join India, the United States and Japan in next month's Malabar naval exercises in the Indian Ocean, in a move that is expected to strengthen the military relationship between the four democracies amid increased tensions with China.

Conducted annually since 1992, the maneuvers have grown in size and complexity in recent years to address what the US Navy has previously described as a "variety of shared threats to maritime security in the Indo-Asia Pacific."

The participation of Australia means that all four members of the so-called Quad will be participating in the exercises for the first time since 2007.

The Quad, or Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, is an informal strategic forum for the US, Japan, Australia and India, featuring semi-regular summits and information exchanges between the four nations.

While not a formal military alliance like NATO, it is seen by some as a potential counterweight to growing Chinese influence and alleged aggression in Asia-Pacific. The collation has been denounced by Beijing as an anti-China bloc.

The Australian and Indian defense ministries announced the expansion of the drills, which had been long-speculated, late Monday.

Australian Defense Minister Linda Reynolds said the Malabar exercises were key to enhancing Australia's maritime capabilities, and showcased the "deep trust between four major Indo-Pacific democracies and their shared will to work together on common security interests."

Australia's previous participation in the drills in 2007 sparked diplomatic protests from China. Relations between China and Australia have since deteriorated, however, with the two countries locked in a series of long-running trade disputes.

Other members of the Quad have also seen tensions with Beijing spike in recent months. Indian and Chinese troops clashed along the Line of Actual Control — the de facto border between the two countries in the Himalayas — in June.

Japan and China remain at odds over the disputed Senkaku Islands, named the Diaoyus by China, where Beijing has increased the presence of its coast guard vessels.

The US meanwhile has increased the tempo of its naval and air missions in the South China Sea, while pushing back at Beijing's claims to the vast waterway.

In a statement Monday, India's Defense Ministry said the four participants "collectively support free, open and inclusive Indo-Pacific and remain committed to a rules based international order."

The exercises will begin in November in the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea, India said.

Malabar began as a bilateral exercise between India and the US. Japan became a permanent Malabar member in 2015.

Previous exercises have taken place in the Indian Ocean as well as off the coast of Japan a year ago, and around the US Pacific territory of Guam and in the Philippine Sea in 2018.

The 2017 exercises in the Indian Ocean involved aircraft carriers from the US, India and Japan in what were then described as the largest naval exercises in the region in two decades.

Indonesia rejected US request to host spy planes: Officials

20 Oct 2020 02:12PM

JAKARTA: Indonesia rejected this year a proposal by the United States to allow its P-8 Poseidon maritime surveillance planes to land and refuel there, according to four senior Indonesian officials familiar with the matter.

US officials made multiple "high-level" approaches in July and August to Indonesia's defence and foreign ministers before Indonesia's president, Joko Widodo, rebuffed the request, the officials said.

Representatives for Indonesia's president and defence minister, the US State Department press office and the US embassy in Jakarta did not respond to requests for comment.

Representatives for the US Department of Defence and Indonesia's foreign minister Retno Marsudi declined to comment.

The proposition, which came as the US and China escalated their contest for influence in Southeast Asia, surprised Indonesia's government, the officials said, because Indonesia has a long-standing policy of foreign policy neutrality.

The country has never allowed foreign militaries to operate there.

The P-8 plays a central role in keeping an eye on China's military activity in the South China Sea, most of which Beijing claims as sovereign territory.

Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines and Brunei have rival claims to the resource-rich waters, through which US$3 trillion worth of trade passes each year.

Indonesia is not a formal claimant in the strategically important waterway, but considers a portion of the South China Sea as its own. It has regularly repelled Chinese coast guard vessels and fishing boats from an area to which Beijing says it has a historic claim.

Spy chief personally warns MPs over Chinese manipulation

Andrew Tillett and Phillip Coorey

Oct 20, 2020 – 6.09pm

The nation's spy chief will warn federal MPs they are vulnerable to manipulation by foreign agents as part of efforts to ward off Chinese attempts to meddle in Australian politics.

And in a further boost to efforts to push back against Chinese influence, Australia will participate in joint naval exercises with India, Japan and the United States after a 13 year absence, cementing the burgeoning Quadrilateral alliance between the four countries.

The long-coveted invitation to Exercise Malabar came as Australian, US and Japanese warships sailed together through the contested waters of the South China Sea.

ASIO chief Mike Burgess told Senate estimates on Tuesday the spy agency had stepped up its investigation into foreign intelligence services that were "deceptively cultivating" politicians at federal, state and local government level to gain influence and curry favour.

"In the coming weeks I will write to all Commonwealth parliamentarians to warn they are attractive targets for those trying to steal our secrets and manipulate our decision-making," Mr Burgess said.

Mr Burgess said the letter would contain "high-level advice on what to look for and how they should handle it".

"Some good people may not even understand they're being manipulated in a way counter to our national interests," he said.

"I think generally countries' intent – and this is more than one country – is broad and it's a range of things. Foreign intelligence services are adept at understanding where they have someone in the cultivation stakes and therefore what they can potentially ask this person to do."

Mr Burgess' actions follow June raids on the Sydney homes of NSW Labor MP Shaoquett Moselmane as well as Chinese journalists over allegations a staffer was advancing Chinese interests. Mr Moselmane has denied any wrongdoing.

The ongoing concern about domestic Chinese interference came as New Delhi confirmed late on Monday Australia had been invited to participate in Exercise Malabar, the Indian navy's flagship maritime drills.

"High-end military exercises like Malabar are key to enhancing Australia's maritime capabilities, building interoperability with our close partners, and demonstrating our collective resolve to support an open and prosperous Indo-Pacific," Defence Minister Linda Reynolds said.

"Exercise Malabar also showcases the deep trust between four major Indo-Pacific democracies and their shared will to work together on common security interests."

Following talks in Tokyo, Senator Reynolds and Japanese counterpart Kishi Nobuo issued a joint statement criticising "any attempts to unilaterally change the status quo by coercion in the South China Sea" in another shot at China.

"They reaffirmed their serious concern about recent incidents, including the continued militarisation of disputed features, dangerous or coercive use of coast guard vessels and 'maritime militia', and efforts to disrupt other countries’ resource exploitation activities," the statement said.

Mao, QAnon namechecked in insult-filled debate for U.S. Senate seat

By Ross Williams -October 19, 2020

The top-polling Republican candidates in Georgia’s U.S. Senate special election traded barbs over their conservative bona fides Monday afternoon in an sometimes fierce online debate that featured Sen. Kelly Loeffler and Rep. Doug Collins sniping more at each other than at Democratic front-runner Rev. Raphael Warnock, the pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Loeffler, Collins and Warnock shared the virtual stage Monday with Democrats Matt Lieberman and Ed Tarver as well as Independent Brian Slowinski. Another 10 of the lower-polling candidates appeared at a different debate earlier in the day.

A January runoff in the race is a near certainty – an outright win will require 50% plus one vote, and 20 names appear on the ballot in the race. The candidates are seeking to fill the last two years of Sen. Johnny Isakson’s term. Isakson stepped down last year due to failing health.

A Quinnipiac poll puts Warnock at 41% with Collins at 22% and Loeffler at 20%, but a WXIA-TV poll conducted at the same time gives Warnock a much smaller lead with 30% of the vote, putting Loeffler in second at 26% and Collins behind at 20%.

Though President Donald Trump endorsed Collins to replace Isakson, Gov. Brian Kemp selected Loeffler to fill the seat until a replacement is elected.

Loeffler and Collins launched their bitter war of words soon after Collins announced his intentions to run for the seat, and their bad blood was on full display at the Atlanta Press Club’s debate Monday, with Collins painting Loeffler as a Republican in name only seeking to buy her seat with her vast fortune and Loeffler calling Collins a failed career politician, a liberal and a liar.

“Hardworking Georgians want the truth,” Loeffler said. “They’re tired of a campaign that has been filled with lies directed at me, let me tell you the truth. Gov. Kemp appointed me because I am the conservative in this race. Now look, you’ve said I have no place here, that I’m only here because of my husband, that I should do something I’m qualified for. But you know what, you’ve attacked my hair, my makeup, how I talk, my clothes, where I’m from, you’ve lied about me, you’ve lied about my family. And let me tell you, here’s the truth. I’m here because I’ve earned everything I got. I am the true conservative, I don’t have to have a record that I have to lie about and cover up.”

Collins called Loeffler’s remarks “the most amazing lies” and accused her of keeping a portrait of Chinese Communist Party founder Chairman Mao Tse-Tung in her home and refusing to remove companies owned by the party from the New York Stock Exchange, which is owned by her husband.

‘Seapower × 4’: US Navy’s Tweet On Malabar Naval Exercise

With India, Japan And Australia Amid Tensions In Ladakh

Goes Viral

by Swarajya Staff-Oct 20, 2020 01:45 AM

Yesterday (19 October), in a move that will bring the Quad countries together militarily for the first time in years, India formally invited Australia to participate in the Malabar naval exercise planned for later this year.

Welcoming the decision on Twitter, the handle for the US Navy’s Chief of Information tweeted “Seapower x 4” with the flags of India, the US, Japan and Australia.

The tweet, which comes amid the most serious standoff between India and China in Ladakh, was seen as an endorsement from the United States of India’s decision to invite Australia to the naval exercise.

The US Navy’s tweet has gone viral on social media.

Taking cue from the Navy Chief of Information, the US Navy’s Pacific Fleet, part of the US’ Indo-Pacific Command, also tweeted on the new development.

India’s move, experts say, is aimed at strengthening the partnership with the Quad countries to balance China’s aggressive rise.

The Quad countries had met earlier this month in Japan to discuss, among other things, ways to deal with an increasingly aggressive China. Beijing has been at odds with the four countries over multiple issues.

Ahead of the exercise, India and the US will hold the 2+2 dialogue between the defence and foreign ministers/secretaries of the two countries.

Documents appear to show Hunter Biden's signature on a receipt for $85 at a Delaware computer shop where he dropped off laptops that included details of his international business deals.

Last week a New York Post report claimed that Hunter Biden’s laptop was abandoned at the computer shop in April 2019 for months and was found to contain e-mails that purportedly implicate Joe Biden in his son's international business dealings during his time as Vice President.

The laptop's hard drive was later obtained by the FBI and Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, who shared its contents with the Post.

A receipt from The Mac Shop in Wilmington, Delaware, appears to show Hunter Biden’s signature signing off for repair work on three MacBook Pro laptops for $85, according to Fox News. However, the signature has not been verified.

The paperwork also notes Biden’s name in the 'bill to' section.

Other obtained documents include FBI paper work that reveals the bureau’s interactions with the shop owner John Paul Mac Isaac, who reported the laptop’s contents to authorities.

That document shows that Isaac received a subpoena to testify before the US District Court in Delaware on December 9, 2019.

One page appears to show the serial number for a laptop and hard drive that were seized.

The FBI and Delaware’s US Attorney’s office have declined to publicly comment on the incident.

Trump tells Arizona rally Biden’s lucky Barr hasn’t locked him up

Biden has dismissed the reports as a “smear campaign”

By Edmund DeMarche | Fox News

President Trump on Monday continued to try and portray Joe Biden, his Democratic challenger, as a “corrupt politician” and said the former vice president is lucky Attorney General William Barr was so fair because he knows people that “would have had him locked up five weeks ago.”

DOC'S SHOW ALLEGED HUNTER BIDEN'S SIGNATURE

“Bill Barr is a very nice man,” Trump told a rally in Prescott, Ariz. “And a very fair man.” He said somebody else wouldn’t take all that "crap and corruption.”

Trump was likely referring to recent reports about emails purportedly found on a laptop that belonged to Biden’s son, Hunter, that related to his son’s work with Burisma, a Ukrainian natural gas giant. Biden, who finds himself leading in national polls, has dismissed the reports as a “smear campaign.”

HUNTER BIDEN EMAILS, TEXTS REVEAL WILD LIFE, PAINED SOUL

Trump, meanwhile, seized on the emails as evidence that Hunter Biden used his father’s position as vice president under President Obama to benefit his business career. Trump has essentially accused Biden of selling access.

QAnon/8Chan Sites Briefly Knocked Offline

OCT 20

A phone call to an Internet provider in Oregon on Sunday evening was all it took to briefly sideline multiple websites related to 8chan/8kun — a controversial online image board linked to several mass shootings — and QAnon, the far-right conspiracy theory which holds that a cabal of Satanic pedophiles is running a global child sex-trafficking ring and plotting against President Donald Trump. Following a brief disruption, the sites have come back online with the help of an Internet company based in St. Petersburg, Russia.

A large number of 8kun and QAnon-related sites (see map above) are connected to the Web via a single Internet provider in Vancouver, Wash. called VanwaTech (a.k.a. “OrcaTech“). Previous appeals to VanwaTech to disconnect these sites have fallen on deaf ears, as the company’s owner Nick Lim reportedly has been working with 8kun’s administrators to keep the sites online in the name of protecting free speech.

But VanwaTech also had a single point of failure on its end: The swath of Internet addresses serving the various 8kun/QAnon sites were being protected from otherwise crippling and incessant distributed-denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks by Hillsboro, Ore. based CNServers LLC.

On Sunday evening, security researcher Ron Guilmette placed a phone call to CNServers’ owner, who professed to be shocked by revelations that his company was helping QAnon and 8kun keep the lights on.

Within minutes of that call, CNServers told its customer — Spartan Host Ltd., which is registered in Belfast, Northern Ireland — that it would no longer be providing DDoS protection for the set of 254 Internet addresses that Spartan Host was routing on behalf of VanwaTech.

Contacted by KrebsOnSecurity, the person who answered the phone at CNServers asked not to be named in this story for fear of possible reprisals from the 8kun/QAnon crowd. But they confirmed that CNServers had indeed terminated its service with Spartan Host. That person added they weren’t a fan of either 8kun or QAnon, and said they would not self-describe as a Trump supporter.

CNServers said that shortly after it withdrew its DDoS protection services, Spartan Host changed its settings so that VanwaTech’s Internet addresses were protected from attacks by ddos-guard[.]net, a company based in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Trump narrows Biden's lead in Pennsylvania: poll

BY JUSTINE COLEMAN - 10/19/20 10:14 PM EDT

President Trump has narrowed a lead by Democratic nominee Joe Biden in Pennsylvania, a key swing state that could help determine the presidential contest, according to a poll released Monday.

This week’s Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll found 49 percent of likely voters in Pennsylvania backed Biden, while 45 percent in the state supported the president. Biden's 4 percentage point lead falls right on the edge of the poll’s margin of error.

Last week’s poll showed the former vice president leading Trump by 7 percentage points, with Biden getting 51 percent compared to the president’s 44 percent.

Similar to national polls, a higher percentage of respondents – at 49 percent – said they expected Biden would better handle the coronavirus pandemic, while 41 percent said Trump would manage it better.

A majority at 51 percent said the president would better handle the economy, while 42 percent said Biden would manage it better.

Fifteen percent of the likely Pennsylvania voters said they had already voted in the election.

How An India-US-Australia-Japan Naval 'Alliance' Would

Fight Together

Vishnu Som Updated: October 20, 2020 1:52 pm IST

India's decision to extend an invitation to the Australian Navy to be a part of this year's Malabar Naval exercises isn't just about making a strong diplomatic statement to Beijing.

As China builds its Navy at an unprecedented pace, a Naval alliance composed of the United States, China, Japan and Australia may be best placed to counter Beijing's growing maritime influence in the South China Sea and Indian Ocean on the basis of their shared military capabilities.

This has a lot to do with the weapons, sensors and platforms that the four Navies use. In simple terms, the Navies of these nations have systems that increasingly "talk to one another" through electronic data-links and encrypted communication systems. These compatible systems, deployed on a host of platforms including helicopters, maritime surveillance aircraft, submarines and warships and would be of immense use in the event of joint Naval operations against a Chinese fleet.

The clearest example of this is the Lockheed Martin MH-60 "Romeo'' multi-role helicopter. This chopper, widely considered the most advanced in its class, is operated by Japan, Australia and the United States off the decks of their warships. The first of the Indian Navy's 24 US-made MH-60s, being acquired in a $2.6 billion deal, is set to arrive by the end of the year.

In joint Naval operations over thousands of square kilometres, MH-60Rs, being operated by these Navies would be able to electronically share information from their sensors on the potential location of Chinese submarines, box in the enemy target and engage it using torpedoes, if necessary. Each helicopter would not necessarily require to return to its "mother'' ship since they can, as easily, operate off the deck of an allied warship, where they can be serviced using common components, refuelled, and re-tasked for another operation.

It's the same story with India's soon-to-be-acquired Sea Guardian maritime surveillance drone. Capable of loitering over its mission area for more than 25 hours, a single Sea Guardian, manufactured by the US firm General Atomics, can be the eyes and ears of a combined fleet. Equipped with a maritime surveillance radar, an infrared and electro-optical targeting system and an electronic warfare suite, a Sea Guardian can detect an enemy fleet hundreds of kilometres away, information that can be instantly shared to a combined fleet through a secure electronic data-link.

Pompeo To Host Armenian, Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers

On Oct. 23

October 20, 2020

By PanARMENIAN

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan are scheduled to separately meet with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington on Friday, October 23, Poltico reports.

It’s not clear whether the foreign policy chiefs will meet with each other or whether U.S. officials will try to convene a trilateral session.

According to U.S. government documents, Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov will meet first with Pompeo on Friday morning. Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan will meet shortly afterward with the U.S. secretary of State.

In an interview on Monday, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to the United States, Elin Suleymanov, did not rule out the possibility of an encounter between the Armenian and Azerbaijan ministers during their Washington stay.

Azerbaijan, with help from Turkey and Syrian and Libyan mercenaries deployed by Ankara, started a war against Karabakh (Artsakh) in the morning of September 27. The Armenian side has reported deaths and injuries both among the civilian population and the military. Foreign and local journalists too have been injured in Azeri shelling of towns and villages.

Trump campaign's 2020 shot-for-shot remake of 2016

is flopping hard

Trump's attempts to manufacture the wild moments that led to his victory four years ago are keeping the sequel from catching on with audiences.

It’s rare that a blockbuster sequel lives up to the original, as President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign is learning in the final stretch of the election season. Even as it pulls out all the stops, using previously sacrosanct powers of the presidency in the process, the campaign — following the lead of the man atop the ticket — keeps falling back on the exact same shtick that got him into office in the first place, as the Associated Press accurately noted. If this were a film, it would feel more like “Caddyshack II” than “The Empire Strikes Back.”

It’s rare that a blockbuster sequel lives up to the original, as President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign is learning in the final stretch of the election season.

If we revisit Trump’s win four years ago, we can pull out four key elements in the lead-up to the twist ending: an influx of outside help from overseas; a timely reminder of Trump’s opponent’s historic levels of unpopularity; a flooding of the zone online in the run-up to the election; and a frenzied base ready to turnout over suppressed Democrat voters.

The result hasn’t quite got the same zing as the original. This time around, there’s no Wikileaks drip of emails stolen from his opponents for a receptive campaign to capitalize on. Russia is instead focusing its energy on just amplifying what Trump actually says and calling it a day.

Instead, we have a Rudy Giuliani-coordinated effort to push a set of alleged messages allegedly found on a laptop that allegedly belonged to Hunter Biden. The jury is still out on whether this operation is at all foreign influenced instead of a scenario where Rudy Giuliani got played yet again — the FBI is reportedly investigating now. But the possibility of this becoming the next “But her emails!” is fading by the day.

Churches knew of allegations against notorious

paedophile priests, royal commission says

The Anglican and Catholic churches missed crucial opportunities to stop them abusing other children, unredacted reports find

Melissa Davey

Tue 20 Oct 2020 01.52 EDT

The Anglican and Catholic churches knew about allegations against notorious paedophile priests years before they were convicted and jailed for child sexual abuse, missing crucial opportunities to stop them from abusing other children.

The findings were outlined in two unredacted and one previously unreleased report published by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse on Tuesday. The findings were previously redacted so as not to prejudice ongoing legal proceedings against the two abusers: the former Anglican dean of Newcastle Graeme Lawrence and the former Catholic priest Vincent Gerard Ryan.

Lawrence is the most senior Anglican church figure found guilty of child sexual abuse, after being convicted in July 2019 of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy in 1991 at his home at Christ Church Cathedral in Newcastle, New South Wales. He was sentenced to eight years in jail.

The commission’s report on case study 42, which examined the response of the Anglican diocese of Newcastle to child sexual abuse allegations, found the allegations that Lawrence was sexually abusing children were made on three separate occasions to the then Bishop Roger Herft.

First, Herft was told by leaders of a diocesan youth camp in 1995 that two boys had separately alleged that Lawrence had sexually abused them. In 1996, the commission found Herft was told by the then archbishop that Lawrence had been sexually abusing young boys. Then, in 1999, he was told by a bishop that Lawrence had been a perpetrator of child sexual abuse.

Herft told the royal commission that he could not recall these allegations being made to him.

“It seems extraordinary to us that the bishop of a diocese would have no recollection whatsoever of numerous people making allegations to him over a number of years that one of the most senior priests and powerful figures in the Diocese – the dean – had sexually abused children … and no recollection of discussing the allegations … We reject Bishop Herft’s evidence that he had no recollection of these matters.”

Herft also told the commission he had no memory of becoming concerned that there was a pattern of allegations against Lawrence. “It seems extraordinary to us that Bishop Herft would not have formed such a concern given the number of allegations made,” the commission found.

The commission also found that Lawrence was not a credible witness, and that his testimony to the commission was “on many occasions contradictory, evasive and implausible”. The commission said it was also satisfied that in 1981, when he was a senior priest in the Diocese of Riverina, Lawrence began “a sexual relationship with CKH, who was then 16 years old … Mr Lawrence continued to have a sexual relationship with CKH until around 1985, when CKH was 19 years old”.

The commission found Lawrence’s partner, Gregory Goyette, also sexually abused CKH, which Lawrence knew about.

“We reject Mr Lawrence’s submission that our terms of reference do not require us to make these findings,” the commission found. “It is correct that our terms of reference relate to the institutional response to allegations of child sexual abuse, but, in our view, it is highly relevant that one of the leaders of the Diocese, who was himself personally involved in the institutional response to certain survivors, sexually abused a child.”

Meanwhile the commission found in its report on case study 43, which examined the response of Catholic church authorities to allegations of child sexual abuse in the Maitland–Newcastle region, that Monsignor Patrick Cotter was made aware of allegations that Father Ryan had sexually abused multiple altar boys who were students at St Joseph’s primary school in 1975. At the time, Cotter was the priest in charge of St Joseph’s parish, and Ryan was the assistant priest.

LETTER: Pope says abortion not only voter concern

A letter writer speaks (9-26-20) of his need to decide his candidate based on the abortion matter. Pope Francis admonishes Catholics who would be one-issue voters, on precisely this subject.

In his 2018 Apostolic Exhortation Gaudete Et Exsultate, the Pope says:

“Our defense of the innocent unborn, for example, needs to be clear, firm and passionate, for at stake is the dignity of a human life, which is always sacred and demands love for each person, regardless of his or her stage of development.

“Equally sacred, however, are the lives of the poor, those already born, the destitute, abandoned and underprivileged, the vulnerable infirm and elderly exposed to covert euthanasia, victims of human trafficking … and every form of rejection. We cannot uphold an ideal of holiness that would ignore injustice in a world where some revel, spend with abandon and live only for the latest consumer goods, even as others look on from afar, living their entire lives in abject poverty.”

Base Link because tracking data, if you look you will find it.

The only reason the Vatican is against abortion is because

it historically dominated the Adoption industry.

1000's of documented cases of "poor" and "young" mothers

having their babies stolen from them and adopted out to "clients"

around the world.

This is why the VATICAN is against contraception as well.

A Business Model.

and before you say that the VATICAN is not a Business.

Please explain 3.5$ Billion in PPP small business loans to catholic

churches in America who lobbied to have the PPP loan rules

altered so they would qualify for SMALL BUSINESS LOANS.

Most, including many anons cannot imagine this level of Evil.

Huge fleet of 300 Chinese fishing boats is 'raping' Galapagos Islands'waters, pillaging food supplies and causing unprecedented environmental damage, officials say

Fleet includes fish processing plants, refuelling vessels and colossal trawlers

Boats raided the Galapagos Islands' protected waters throughout the summer

They have since moved south and anchored off Peru after international outcry

Islands are home to magnificent species first documented by Charles Darwin

The Galapagos Islands has accused China of 'raping' its vitally important fishing waters and stunning wildlife with a fleet of nearly 300 vessels.

The boats include fish processing plants, refuelling vessels and trawlers which raided the protected waters around the Ecuadorian islands in July and August.

They are understood to have fished thousands of tonnes of squid, tuna and billfish, vital resources for the local economy, and left a wake of polluting detritus which threatens the lives of magnificent species found nowhere else on Earth.

'This is an attack on our resources,' Ángel Yánez Vinueza, mayor of the Santa Cruz province on the islands, told the Los Angeles Times. 'They are killing the species we have protected and polluting our biota with the plastic waste they drop overboard. They are raping the Galapagos.'

MATTHEW 10:33-38

33 “We are not stoning You for any good work,” said the Jews, “but for blasphemy, because You, who are a man, declare Yourself to be God.”

34 Jesus replied, “Is it not written in your Law: ‘I have said you are god's?

35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and the Scripture cannot be broken—

36 then what about the One whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world? How then can you accuse Me of blasphemy for stating that I am the Son of God?

37 If I am not doing the works of My Father, then do not believe Me.

38 But if I am doing them, even though you do not believe Me, believe the works themselves, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I am in the Father.”
