I spoke someone who works on these planes, apparently there was a fracture in one of the fan blades. So they will now look at the serial number and lot number of that fan, check all other planes in the fleet with the same lot number. Those that share the same number will have the part replaced, and an investigation will be conducted. The investigation will include every vendor who had a hand in the part right down to the metal fabrication. The individual couldn't be more specific, just general info.
Funny you should mention that because I did ask, the blades are made from titanium or aluminum. He said China would not be involved in those parts.
I agree, after the conversation, my first thought was to just keep eyes and ears open to see what comes out of this.
