Faithless elector laws

I looked into this yesterday.

The trick is that many ballots are already cast.

So swapping the candidate only works if the electors are allowed to choose a person other than the candidate who received the votes on the actual ballot.

 

CA law included here, for example.

Colorado is much more strict, but some wiggle room.

Many states allow for the electors to choose someone else FROM THE SAME PARTY.

There may be other loophole used, and/or it would go to court (dragging it out).

 

Trump has to win by sufficient margin to make these games moot.
