Lincoln Project Appears To Have Helped Iranian Disinformation Effort Go Viral
The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump political group, appears to have helped an Iranian disinformation effort go viral.
Federal authorities concluded that Iran was behind a string of threatening emails targeting Democratic voters in swing states, The Washington Post reported Wednesday. The email senders claimed to be members of the Proud Boys, a fringe right-wing group.
Director of National Intelligence Dan Ratcliffe confirmed the Iranian efforts during a press conference Wednesday evening.
Ratcliffe told reporters that “we have already seen Iran sending spoofed emails designed to intimidate voters, incite social unrest, and damage President Trump. You may have seen some reporting on this in the last 24 hours or you may have even been one of the recipients of those emails.”
The Lincoln Project helped the Iranian misinformation go viral on social media, garnering more than 12,000 retweets by amplifying the false claim that the Proud Boys were trying to intimidate Democratic voters.
“The Proud Boys are attempting to scare voters away from the polls. This is punishable by up to a year in jail and a blatant attempt to prevent people from voting. Let’s find them and make them famous,” the Lincoln Project tweet said.
The political group, which was founded by anti-Trump Republican consultants, deleted the tweet Wednesday night.
Iran has previously been caught running anti-Trump influence campaigns. Iran used hundreds of fake Facebook and Twitter accounts to run an anti-Trump, pro-Bernie Sanders propaganda effort, the two companies announced in August 2018.
The Lincoln Project didn’t immediately return the Daily Caller News Foundation’s email seeking comment.

Trump, Frustrated by Lack of Investigations Into Political Foes, Reportedly Looking Into Firing FBI Director Christopher Wray After the Election
President Donald Trump is seriously considering the firing of his second FBI director in less than four years, having grown frustrated with the lack of investigations into his political foes by Christopher Wray.
According to the Washington Post, a frustrated Trump is looking at replacing Wray after the 2020 election. Wray was sworn in to a 10-year term as the nation’s federal law enforcement agency in August 2017 after Trump infamously fired James Comey earlier that year.
The conversations among the president and senior aides stem in part from their disappointment that Wray in particular but Barr as well have not done what Trump had hoped— indicate that Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, his son Hunter Biden, or other Biden associates are under investigation, these people say.
Wray has run afoul of the White House’s messaging on a number of critical issues of late, effectively dismissing Trump’s false claims of widespread mail-in voter fraud and knocking down the president’s hyperbole about the threat of left-wing violence from antifa. His very public break from the White House’s narrative earned him rebuke from the White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows as well as Trump himself.
In the past few weeks, as the 2020 campaign hits its home stretch, Trump has publicly pleaded with his Justice Department to arrest both his presidential predecessor and would-be successor, Barack Obama and Joe Biden, as well as his 2016 opponent, Hillary Clinton.
But according to the Post, the lack of action by Wray — and by Barr as well — to provide an 11th-hour, Comey-like announcement of an investigation into Biden that could tip the election in his favor as it did in 2016 is driving his interest in naming a new, more loyal FBI director.

Trump: Fake News CNN, MSDNC Want to ‘Scare the Hell Out of Everyone’ with ‘COVID’
President Donald Trump on Wednesday ridiculed cable news media at a campaign rally in North Carolina for focusing so intently on the coronavirus pandemic.
“You know, you turn on to this MSDNC and fake news CNN. All you hear is COVID, COVID, COVID, COVID, COVID, COVID, COVID, COVID, COVID, COVID, COVID,” he said as his crowd of supporters booed.
Trump continued, “That’s all they put on because they want to scare the hell out of everyone.”
The president said that the country was “rounding the corner” on the coronavirus pandemic, but acknowledged that cable news “hated” when he said that.
“They say cases are up,” Trump said. “Yeah, testing is up. We have more testing than India, China, and almost every other country put together.”
Trump promised that life would return to normal in 2021.
“Normal life will fully resume, and next year will be the greatest economic year in the history of our country,” he promised.
He warned that if former Vice President Joe Biden was elected president, Americans would face more punishing lockdowns.
“Biden will delay therapies, prolong the pandemic, close your schools, and shut down your country, and that is what he will do,” he said.
Trump said that he would continue to fight the pandemic but will allow the economy to move forward.
“This election is a choice between a Trump super recovery or a Biden deep depression,” he said. “It is between a Trump boom or a Biden lockdown.”

GOP Senator Ron Johnson Asks DOJ IG Horowitz to Open Investigation Into FBI’s Handling of Hunter Biden’s Laptop
Chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, Ron Johnson (R-WI) asked DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz on Wednesday to open an investigation into the FBI’s handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop.
The New York Post last week dropped an October surprise on Biden when they released emails between Hunter Biden and various foreign actors offering him money to have access to his VP daddy Joe.
Hunter abandoned his MacBook Pro at a repair shop and the shop owner, John Paul Mac Isaac, contacted the FBI and gave them Hunter Biden’s laptop in December of 2019.
Things took a dark turn this week when Rudy Giuliani announced he turned over the hard drive to the Delaware State Police when he discovered pictures of underage girls and inappropriate text messages.
According to a source who spoke to The Gateway Pundit, approximately one third of the explicit photos of minors in Hunter Biden’s laptop were of the same 14-year-old girl — who is one of his relatives.
Not only were there inappropriate photos of the child on her own, but Hunter Biden was in some of them with her.
Meanwhile, the FBI is not cooperating with Senator Ron Johnson and Hunter Biden still has not been taken into custody.
“On September 24, 2020, the day after Chairman Grassley and I released our report titled, “Hunter Biden, Burisma, and Corruption: The Impact on U.S. Government Policy and Related Concerns,” a whistleblower contacted my committee and informed my staff that he had possession of a laptop left in his business by Hunter Biden. He also informed us that he provided its contents to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in response to a December 9, 2019 grand jury subpoena,” Johnson wrote.
“As the first step in our due diligence, committee staff contacted FBI officials and asked for confirmation of certain facts in an attempt to validate the whistleblower’s claims and assertions. Unfortunately several days later, the FBI responded that it would not confirm or deny any information identified by committee staff even though several of the questions were not related to the possible existence of an ongoing grand jury investigation.”
“I respectfully request that your office open an investigation into the FBI’s handling of the laptop allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden,” Johnson wrote.
It is unclear, at this point, whether the investigation is ongoing or if it was directly related to Hunter Biden.

President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in North Carolina Wednesday recalled the forces that continued fighting his political movement.
“We’ve had to beat the really stupid dumb people, the Never Trumpers, we’ve had to beat the RINOS — that’s ‘Republican in name only.’ RINO. I love that term,” Trump said as the crowd laughed.
The president also noted he had to beat the “fake news lamestream media” that had partnered with the Democrat party.
He also referred to the wealthy and powerful “Big Tech” companies of Silicon Vally that were working against his campaign and censoring conservatives.
“Now we find out without any doubt we’ve had to beat the Big Tech giants,” he said.
Trump also noted that he had defeated all of the political pundits and consultants.
“I’ve soundly, every single one of these clowns … I defeated them so badly that they’ve never gotten over it … these people are sick. They are sad, sad people.
The president said that the “deep state” in Washington, DC, continued to be a problem as he tried to govern the country.
“The deep staters right? We had to beat them … you know the swamp and the swamp creatures are much deeper and much worse than we ever thought,” Trump said.
The president’s remark prompted the rally crowd to chant, “DRAIN THE SWAMP!”

Why Are Other Social Media Stocks Rising On Snap Inc’s Earnings Report
As Snap Inc. announced its third-quarter earnings report on Tuesday, its rival social media sites’ stock prices trended upwards at a significant clip, in what some analysts attributed to an increase in advertising spending on the platforms, Bloomberg reported.
Snap (SNAP) reported a revenue increase of 52% to $679 million for the quarter compared to Q3 2019. Net loss was $200 million, down from $227 million a year earlier, and operating cash flow improved by $21 million to $55 million for the quarter.
Snap’s stock was up over 30% on Wednesday with the news of the earnings, but so was its competitors. Pinterest Inc. (PINS) was up nearly 8% by mid-afternoon while Twitter’s (TWTR) shares rose by nearly 8%, and Facebook (FB) saw a stock price increase over 5% at the same time.
According to Bloomberg, two analysts raised their ratings on Pinterest to buy following the release of Snap’s results as the company is set to release its earnings report on Oct 28. Both Twitter and Facebook will release their earnings report on the heels of Pinterest just a day later on Oct 29.
Snap’s earnings were proof enough for Goldman Sachs analyst Heath Terry, who wrote in a report obtained by Bloomberg that the social media platform’s earnings report suggested that “advertiser demand strengthened over the course of the quarter, particularly for smaller platforms like Pinterest, Twitter and Snap.”
Bank of America analyst Justin Post echoed Terry’s remarks, saying in his report also obtained by Bloomberg that Snap’s earnings were “another sign of strong online advertising rebound.”
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel said in a statement about the earnings report, “Our focus on delivering value for our community and advertising partners is yielding positive results during this challenging time. We’re excited about the growth of our business in Q3 as we continue to make long-term investments in our future. The adoption of augmented reality is happening faster than we had previously anticipated, and we are working together as a team to execute on the many opportunities in front of us.”

Russian consulate says notified by US authorities about detention of Russian national

NEW YORK, October 22. /TASS/. The US law enforcement agencies have notified Russian diplomats about the detention of a Russian national on charges of conspiracy to illegally export electronics, the Russian consulate general in New York said on Wednesday.
"Today, the consulate general received a notification from the US law enforcement agencies about the detention of a Russian national (the only one from the US Department of Justice) as a member of an international criminal group on charges of conspiracy to illegally export electronics," the consulate wrote on its Twitter account.
The consulates’ press secretary, Alexei Topolsky, told TASS earlier that Russian diplomats had contacted the US Department of State asking to say whether there were Russian nationals among those detained.
The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York said on Monday that seven people - Akmal Asadov, Sayuz Daibagiya, Anton Perevoznikov, Shokhrukh Saidov, Marat Shadkhin, Kirill Sokhonchuk and Zokir Iskanderov - had been arrested in New York, one more person - Azamat Bobomurodov - in Illinois, and two more were still wanted on charges of transportation of stolen property worth more than 50 million US dollars, failure to provide exports information, illegal exports of electronics and conspiracy.
